YOKE Office Equipment and BM Office Supplies review: Unethical Trade Practices

Please beware of YOKE Office Equipment and BM Office Supplies. This two companies sell a group of identical office chairs (refer to the websites) and are somehow affiliated. Many residents may have received YOKE flyers before.

YOKE claims on website "If you can identify another shops that is lower than the lowest available comparable price on YOKE's website, you can email us and we’ll beat the price and give it to you lower then them". Upon consultation, YOKE assured that customer will be given 10% discount on the offered price by other supplier.

I then informed YOKE of the lower price offered by BM and was told to wait for reply but there was no response. Follow-on calls also ended with seemingly truthful excuses. In the end, this two companies referred me to each other and refused sale at offered or claimed prices. Are they engaging in price-fixing?

Do note that as there was no transaction, such dispute cannot be registered under Consumer Association Of Singapore. Time, effort and money wasted!

Let us hope consumers are not subjected to unethical practices. CASE should deliberate handling relevant cases to protect consumers so as to honour her mission "To champion consumers' interests and promote fair-trading" for her vision "A consumer-friendly Singapore".
