Yana Normandin is, in this student's informed opinon, a highly unethical, incompetent, malicious and predatory adjunct-college instructor. I'm an straight "A", 4.0 honors program student with a previous BA degree. I paid in full in advance for a college-level, criminal justice course taught by Phoenix Police officer, Yana Normandin, who properly graded and assigned me an A for my first class essay - so I/we know she has it within her to be fair and professional when she chooses to. Then she asssigned an online quiz which had bogus, unprofessional questions and wrong answers, which she refused and intentionally failed to correct even numerous emails from me. Then she did a 180 and became Yana "Jeckyl" Normandin after she found out that I'm a criminal justice/police reform activist and very unhappy and dissatisfied with her failure to fix her failed test and that I would be filing a complaint - which I did - to her boss and the equally ethically-challenged AJS Dept. Chair, Angela Kwan, three times, with no response - a serious Rio administrative failure, and a direct violation of published RIO rules/procedures. Then she began grading all of my A-level 150% over-performing essays, at insultingly low levels, like C's as payback and grading and returning my papers far beyond her legal turnaround time, leaving out required details, making baseless remarks which would support her lower grade then telling me to look for her detailed comments - which she did not provide. She took dispicable, unethical and unprofessional, passive agressive behavior to a whole new level. Due to space limitations here I'll cut to the chase - after submitting all assignments, amazing work which exceeded each and every assignment requirement, I received notice that she had given me an unrequested "W" (withdrawl) in the course and suspended me from the college for 6 months with NO - ZERO - details or reason(s) to justify this absurd and offensive and illegal outcome - and, again, in SERIOUS violation of the published college rules for discipline issues which cannot be executed in this manner. This malicious fraudulent grade-scheme retaliation cost me around 250 course hours, which at $100 per hour (what I charge for my professional work) or $25, 000 and around $500 in lost course fees plus damage to my health and a halted academic life. Now I plan to file a lawsuit against Rio AND all parties to this scam, including RIO President Bustamante, individually, and all who participated in this vile criminal activity. And because SCOTUS has already clearly ruled that student speech cannot be restricted, punished or retaliated against - as was clearly done here - this will be a slam dunk case. I'll also work to make sure that student and free speech predators like these are permanently banned from using public institutions to harm those with less power. It's also critically important for me to insert here, that, if you're a white American, like myself, who is reading this, and you've ever doubted, complained about, disbelieved or scoffed at the stories or plight of Black LIves Matter police-reform activists and the police brutality victims they represent, I can tell you that they are 1000% accurate and correct in their criticisms of police anger, bias, discrimination, vindictiveness and retaliation against anyone who looks at them wrong - or criticizes them. Now you've heard it from a real white person to confirm that, while police criminality is often a race-based hatred, it is really, essentially about, hatred and animosity toward ANY color civilian who has the audacity to speak up for himself, hold his ground and/or question or challenge a police officer in ANY way. In my educated opinion, insecure, often psychologically-damaged individuals, too often seek out the police officer career precisely because they desperately NEED to be ABOVE and SUPERIOR to, in their own minds at least - all others - but without accepting any of the normal accountability most other "life-or-death" power positions require. Yes - corrupt policing is a modern sickness that all civilains must work to cure - STAT- or police will eventually destroy and kill us all.
