I hired VIP Movers to remove and store my furniture when I left South Africa in 2008. Firstly Michelle charged me much more than the quoted amount for the monthly storage fee.
I was shocked when I saw the place they stored my furniture at. It was in the backyard of a resedential house. Michelle lied to me when she told me my furniture would be stored in an enclosed container in a proper storage facility. My property was dumped in a stack and mixed up with other property which belonged to another customer.
On returning my property, 4 boxes was missing, containing electrical equipment and other items. My books, linen, sheets, tablecloths and towels was rotten because the boxes it was in, evidently became wet. My kitchenware which included a Royal Albert porcelain set, was broken. This in spite of this being packed away covered in newspaper in boxes clearly marked as being breakable, to be handled with care. Also my antique furniture was damaged.
I asked them about the inventory, but this was conveniently missing. Due to their negligence and unprofessional service, I lost more than R20 000 worth.
Stay away from these people!
I have had the same experience with Deon. I am still trying to track him down and claim off the insurance he supposedly provided. I lost a huge amount and a bakkie arrived with a huge table on top which smashed tens of thousands of rad of waterford crystal, boxes we missing, opened and gone through and the valuables taken. Can anyone assist in tracing him. I have reported him to the police to no avail.
I also used VIP movers, Michelle is a liar. Apparantly the truck my goods were on went up in flames. I am still waiting for the photos of this? Also, she said that there wasn't one piece of salvage which I find incredibly strange as my metal fridge and washing machine were also on the truck - since when does metal totally combust into smoke? I lost ALL of my belongings. 10 leather jackets, copious amounts of boots and shoes, italian leather handbags etc etc. 3piece suede lounge furniture, patio furniture, fridge, washing machine and my prized possession, my big screen tv and surround sound system, queen bed, bedroom suite and a room full of clothes. ALL GONE. poof. apparantly insurance wouldn't pay out because they had sublet the truck. I just want my money back for what I paid (overpaid) for removal of the goods and 2 months storage fees. I lost R80000 worth of goods and my entire life savings. I just asked to be reimbursed for what I had paid. I have not received anything and am so incredibly desperate. if anyone can help i would really appreciate it. Lauren

HI ... we had a terrible experience with VIP Movers. Deon is the owner of Trucknet. He works with Michelle. We had a terrible experience with our. We paid her a deposit as well as the monies for the move, carrier for my vehicle and insurance. Our goods were never insured and my vehicle went on a trailer. All of our bobxes were open upon arrival in Joburg. Our furniture was damaged. Don't take anyone for face value! Don't trust references. Our move from Cape Town to Johannesburg was incredibly traumatic. Michelle's pre move service was fantastic but when the day of our move came, it was horrific. We then got Carte Blanche involved. After all her lies, and her deceit. Deon from Trucknet is not innocent either. He is the person who is responsible for employing the team who move your goods. The team have no clue on how to package or pack up your home. They destroy what it is their path. They steal your goods. When my husband and I chatted to Deon all we got in return was smoke and disguise! Lies lies lies! They steal your money and steal your goods.
