They took over my electric provider and increased my cost 3 times that it was before.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
Utility Gas and Power received notice of the customer's concerns on January 18, 2022 and contacted the customer by phone on January 20, 2022. The customer questioned the rate on her most recent bill. We explained to the customer that the account had originally been enrolled with Switch Energy, and the customer's account has since been acquired by Utility Gas and Power. We explained that the initial contract term had ended, and the contracted rate had expired. During the call, Utility Gas and Power offered the customer a 12-month fixed rate contract, and upon execution of the same, Utility Gas and Power would be willing to rerate the customer for the most recent billing period for the difference between the rate previously charged and the new contracted rate, however the customer stated she has already enrolled with a new supplier.
On January 19, 2022, Utility Gas and Power received a drop notice on the account from the utility.
We sincerely regret the customer was not satisfied with Utility Gas and Power. We will continue to monitor our sales and customer service processes to improve.

UG&P was my Electric Provider but once the locked in rate ended, my bill quadrupled. They trick you with only locking in pricing for a couple months. Be wary.

On 6/3/2021, Utility Gas and Power mailed a renewal letter notifying the customer that the contracted fixed rate the account was currently enrolled on was due to expire in approximately 45 days. The renewal letter also contained information about a new fixed rate option available to the customer. Utility Gas and Power received no response from the customer regarding the renewal letter. On 8/9/2021, the customer's fixed rate expired and the account went to a variable rate, cancellable at any time without penalty.
On 12/13/2021 the customer contacted Utility Gas and Power requesting billing information on the account. The customer questioned the rate on the most recent bill. Utility Gas and Power explained that the initial contract term had ended, and the contracted rate had expired. During the call, Utility Gas and Power offered the customer a new 12-month fixed rate contract, however the customer stated she'd chosen a new alternative supplier and requested a cancellation.
On 12/15/2021 Utility Gas and Power contacted the customer to discuss reimbursement options available on the account. Utility Gas and Power offered the customer a 12-month fixed rate contract, and upon execution of the same, Utility Gas and Power would be willing to re-rate the customer for the most recent billing period for the difference between the rate previously charged and the new contracted rate, however the customer stated she'd already enrolled with a new supplier.
We sincerely regret the customer was not satisfied with the UGP Program. UGP will continue to monitor our sales and customer service processes to improve.

Horrible company!
Horrible company! They lost my contract and my bill went from 85$ in November to 275$ for December! We don't even have snow and my temp is never more than 68 degrees!

The renewal letter also contained information about a new fixed rate option available to the customer. On 9/29/2021 the customer contacted Utility Gas regarding the renewal letter, stating she planned to enroll on a new fixed rate agreement through the UGP website. The customer contacted Utility Gas and Power again on 10/25/2021. The customer confirmed she had not returned a signed contract to Utility Gas and Power and asked that a new copy be sent. The contract was sent to the customer's email immediately following the call. Utility Gas and Power received no further response from the customer regarding the rate renewal letter. On 11/22/2021, the customer's contracted rate expired. The customer's enrollment continued on a variable rate that can fluctuate from month-to-month and can be cancelled at any time without penalty.
On 12/27/2021, the customer contacted Utility Gas and Power questioning the rate on the most recent bill. Utility Gas and Power explained that the initial contract term had ended, and the contracted rate had expired. During the call, Utility Gas and Power offered the customer a 12-month fixed rate contract and explained that Utility Gas and Power would be willing to re-rate the customer for the most recent billing period for the difference between the rate previously charged and the new contracted rate. The customer agreed to the rate change and the new contract was mailed to the customer following the call.
On 12/29/2021, Utility Gas and Power received a drop notice on the account from the utility. According to the drop notice, the customer was returned to the utility company on 1/3/2022.
We sincerely regret the customer was not satisfied with the UGP Program. UGP will continue to monitor our sales and customer service processes to improve.

The renewal letter also contained information about a new fixed rate option available to the customer. Utility Gas and Power received no response from the customer regarding the rate renewal letter. We have several customer protections in place to ensure our customers have all the information they need to make a decision on their energy needs. In addition to the renewal letter, we also call customers to explain the current fixed rate is due to expire and to contact us for all currently available rates. On 9/10/2021, the customer's contracted rate expired. The customer's enrollment continued on a variable rate that can fluctuate from month-to-month and can be cancelled at any time without penalty.
On 12/6/2021, the customer contacted Utility Gas and Power questioning the rate on the most recent bill. Utility Gas and Power explained that the initial contract term had ended, and the contracted rate had expired. During the call, Utility Gas and Power offered the customer a 12-month fixed rate contract, and upon execution of the same, Utility Gas and Power would be willing to re-rate the customer for the most recent billing period for the difference between the rate previously charged and the new contracted rate. According to the call notes, the customer stated he would contact Utility Gas and Power when he reached a final decision on how to proceed.
On 12/10/2021, Utility Gas and Power received a drop notice on the account from the utility and placed a call to the customer to gather more details. The customer confirmed the changed on the account. .

BEWARE! This company's canvasers, going door to door, should never go inside someone's home & not try to get elderly to switch gas suppliers! This happened to my 96 year old mother who has dementia . I'm sure he could tell after a few sentences, she had dementia He told her he was the gas company..& he talked her into changing her supplier. She has NO recollection of this of course. Now I have to undo this and get her original gas supplier back!

On March 10, 2021, the customer's daughter contacted Utility Gas and Power requesting cancellation. Utility Gas and Power assured the customer's daughter that the enrollment would be cancelled immediately and without penalty. The cancellation was confirmed with *** on March 11, 2021. During the call, the customer's daughter made no mention of issues with the Authorized Sales Representative.
Utility Gas and Power has several enrollment protections in place to ensure customers understand the program and hopefully avoid unsatisfied customers. We sincerely regret the customer was not satisfied with the UGP Program. Our compliance team will address the agent associated with the enrollment to ensure they are aware these types of actions are not acceptable. I have a No Solicitation sign on my door, yet Rob & Wendy knocked and I was stuck listening to their sales pitch about how I'm being overcharged for gas and electric. Maybe I am? I don't know, but it was the middle of the workday and I work from home. They gave me a business card with their names and phone number hand written on it, no website or anything to research at a later time. Apparently they are a ComplaintsBoard.com accredited business, but at the time it just seemed sketchy.

I was just visited at my door in ***, Ohio by a UG&P representative. He stated that he was here as "a courtesy check" just to ensure that Utility Gas and Power was listed on on my utility bills.
His pitch was EXTREMELY misleading, if not downright fraudulent. He stated that UG&P should be on my bill. When I challenged whether he represented a reseller he was very cagey, and said there was no benefit to him for me checking.
If I was familiar with this SCAMMY SALES PITCH I might have fallen for it.
Your website says "We believe that character and integrity are our highest priority." Your representative certainly didn't embody that.

A representative from this company, Jacob, and other guy, went to my elderly mother's house to sell the services
A representative from this company, Jacob, and other guy, went to my elderly mother's house to sell the services. She naively and mistakenly opened the door and let them in, and she doesn't speak or understand English well and this is very obvious. She said yes to everything they said. The rate was changed (even to a lower one maybe), but then I found out she was charged a $99 early termination fee from the other company she had. Of course she was unaware of this! My point here is that these representatives took advantage of my mother to sell the service. This is confirmed because when I call Jacob at the phone number he left my mom, when I started to explain to him what happened he hung up on me! Why did he need to do that? Mmmh! Please, make sure that the people you have going around to the houses are honest and professional people!

SCAM! This company told me they were so much cheaper per KWH. I would save so much money by using them. The door to door guy that came was really good at his job; I will give him that. My electric bill at this time last year was $171 TODAY it is $409 due three days after Christmas. So my family gets to suffer because I am a single mom and it comes down to keep the electric on or get my family something for them to enjoy. Shame on Utility Gas and Power for scamming people! I have called to cancel with them but it will take two months before I will see a difference. When I called the lady said I wasn't signed into a contract. Ummm pretty sure that's why I had your company was because you signed me into a fraudulent contract with empty promises. Also I received a letter stating if I didn't stay on with your company I would be charged a cancelation fee. I stayed but it was never beneficial for me. I wish I would have checked here first because I am clearly not the only one they have scammed.
