Walmart - Money orders

This review is in regards to a terrible and ongoing experience at the Walmart located in Rawlins, Wyoming (Store #04471).

Walmart seems to be running a scam with regards to how it handles money orders. On Friday, 07/21/2023, I purchased a money order for a thousand dollars. On Saturday, 07/22/2023, I returned to have the money order reimbursed. I was told by the store customer service that I would have to wait 10 days. I asked if there were other options. They told me that they could cash the money order, but that I would have to pay a cashing fee. I agreed. They instructed me to make out the money order to myself and endorse the back. I did. When they attempted to cash the money order, they got an error message saying that the money order couldn't be cashed. They provided a phone number to Giact, a 3rd party. When I called the Giact phone number that was provided by Walmart customer service, I was told basically the same thing; that the money order couldn't be cashed. They didn't give a reason, not even a stupid one. At that point it all started to feel like a scam, so I called Walmart's Customer Care phone number to report my store experience. The first time, I spoke with someone who transferred me back to Giact, where I got the same useless information from before. I called Walmart Customer Care a 2nd time. This time I spoke to someone who seemed sympathetic. She said that if the money order is through Western Union, if I have my receipt, and if I have a valid ID, the store should cash the money order. She gave me the name of the store manager (Aaron Nelson) and a reference number. She told me to give the reference number [protected]) to Aaron Nelson. She told me that if Aaron Nelson refused to cash the money order, I should call Customer Care from the store and provide the same reference number to whomever answered. I went to the store and was finally able to get hold of the manager. This was the same manager (Aaron Nelson) who had told me the day before that there was nothing he could do, and stupidly told me that he doesn't have magic. He tried the check again and it failed, so I called Customer Care and explained this to them. The person from Customer Care asked to speak to Aaron, the manager. Aaron basically told them that his hands were tied. I got back on with Customer Care, who told me to hold on. Suddenly I was transferred to Western Union. Western Union automated services asked for the money order number. When I provided it, the automated service responded that it couldn't find any information on the money order. I have called Walmart Customer Care five or six times now. As recently as this morning, I called and asked for a supervisor. They simply hung up.

Desired outcome: Walmart should accept and cash the money order I previously purchased from them.
