All My Sons Moving & Storage - Moving services

To all concerned,

I am writing to share a nightmarish tale that my 67-year-old mother and my 90-year-old grandmother endured during their recent move with All My Sons Moving & Storage / Business Development, LLC. Prepare yourselves, for this is a story of unfathomable incompetence, deceit, and utter disrespect towards my vulnerable family members.

On July 5 (moving day), my mother, a dedicated registered nurse, and my grandmother placed their trust in the company's full-service package, believing it would provide them with the professional packing they needed for a stress-free relocation. The movers appeared competent initially, as they packed one box with care while my mother and grandmother watched in relief, thinking their cherished belongings were in capable hands. But that trust was shattered as soon as my mother and grandmother left the movers to handle the rest. Unbeknownst to them, the movers saw an opportunity to take advantage of two women who were dealing with immense stress and vulnerability. What followed was a horrifying act of recklessness and carelessness that defies comprehension.

The movers threw everything into boxes with reckless abandon, showing no regard for the fragility or value of the items. Glassware was piled on top of glassware, precious Waterford Crystal treated with the same indifference as ordinary kitchenware. Delicate and sentimental oil paintings were carelessly thrown in with no protective styrofoam, paper, or bubble wrap to shield them from harm.

Imagine the devastation my mother and grandmother felt when they finally unpacked at their new home, only to find a heart-wrenching scene of shattered glass, broken heirlooms, and damaged artwork and furniture. Their cherished possessions, with decades of sentimental significance, lay in ruins, forever lost to their family's history.

To make matters even worse, the movers exhibited a complete disregard for the promised professional setup in the new apartment. Items were dumped haphazardly, creating chaos and adding insult to injury. This was not the seamless and stress-free relocation my mother had paid for; it was a nightmare beyond imagination.

Throughout this ordeal, my grandmother, already grappling with health issues and mourning the loss of her husband of 65 years, endured further anguish. The movers' exploitation of their vulnerability compounded her emotional and physical struggles, leaving her feeling betrayed and utterly devastated.

How do you put monetary value on the damage to an original oil painting of my recently deceased grandfather, which held significant sentimental value as it had hung in his law firm for over 50 years, or my grandmother's own original oil paintings, a testament to her artistic talent and exhibited in various art shows in Pittsburgh throughout the years, that was severely damaged with the oil chipped off. What about furniture which held immense sentimental value; an antique desk, which had been my grandfather's law desk for over 50 years, was irreparably damaged during the move. The emotional toll of losing these cherished possessions is immeasurable.

As if the damage inflicted on their possessions wasn't enough, the company's response has been nothing short of callous. Their settlement offer, an insultingly low amount based on weight alone, is a cruel reminder of their complete lack of empathy and accountability.

Despite my mother's diligent correspondence with the company's representatives, Eric Longhofer, Geoff Brugess, and Leona Maroney, via email, and providing extensive photographic evidence of the devastation, there has been a disturbing lack of urgency and response from their customer care department. All of this has left my mother navigating this distressing situation alone, enduring significant financial setbacks, emotional turmoil, and undue stress.

Now, after all the pain and suffering they have caused, their settlement offer is nothing short of insulting. To reduce the worth of our cherished possessions to mere weight and offer a paltry sum in compensation is a gross understatement of the damages incurred.

The settlement offer, which was received yesterday Geoff Burgess, from All My Sons Business Development, LLC, in response to the severe damages and losses my mother, Michaele Martino, and my grandmother experienced during their recent move, is not only insulting but deeply disappointing, considering the extent of negligence displayed by the company.

Their settlement offer, provided via DocuSign, claims to have significantly increased the offer from their legal liability limits of just $0.60 per pound per item. According to their calculation based on this guideline from the Department of Transportation, they have arrived at a paltry sum of $186. Let me emphasize that this is an appalling and unacceptable amount, given the scale of the damages and losses they incurred.

They stated that they increased the amount to $708 in light of the concerns we expressed. However, this revised offer still falls woefully short of addressing the true value of the irreparably damaged and missing items, not to mention the emotional distress caused by their incompetence and negligence.

To evaluate our losses based solely on weight is an insult to our intelligence and a dismissive approach to our legitimate grievances. How can they put a value on sentimental family heirlooms, antiques, collector's items, and original artwork by my mother? To reduce these items to mere weight is a gross oversimplification of their worth and significance to our family.

Furthermore, the offer doesn’t even address the amount my mom spent on the move itself which was $2776. We want to make it crystal clear that their settlement offer is entirely unacceptable. We have already invested considerable time, effort, and resources in documenting the damages and engaging in discussions with their representatives. To be presented with such an insulting offer demonstrates a complete lack of accountability and concern for the distress caused to our family.

We refuse to be silenced in the face of such a heartless act. We will not rest until justice is served, and my mother and grandmother are rightfully compensated for the unspeakable horrors they endured at the hands of All My Sons Moving & Storage / Business Development, LLC.

To all who may consider this company for your moving needs, I implore you to think twice and consider the devastating consequences that my family experienced. We will not stop until we see accountability, and we will not be silenced until our voices are heard.

Sincerely,

Alexis Ottier

Desired outcome: Complete reimbursement of the move and damages claimed: $2776 + $5835
