Sephora

On 2/4 my daughter, who just turned 17, was shopping with some friends at the Merrick park location in Miami, FL. she was asked by the cashier if she wanted a Sephora card. My daughter thought maybe it was another type of rewards card but wasn't sure so she told her she was not 18. The cashier told her just to make her birthday so she was older and to fill out the form. She gave her some extra free items, so of course my daughter was happy. Not realizing, she had just applied for a credit card. She is young and doesn't know how this stuff works... I explained you just don't give out personal info such as the last 4 digits of your SS#.

When she came home she told me what happened and I said oh my god she had you sign up for a credit card. I asked her if she was given anything to indicate such and she said no. So I was hoping it wasn't the case. However, yesterday she received a letter for Comenity stating she was denied due to her age. Well, of course she was. I called the store and spoke to a manager about it, but I think it's a pretty serious issue to have cashiers encourage minors to enter false info so they can get points with their store (if that is true). This really needs to be addressed. I am disappointed in Sephora.
