Purchased a puppy and at 8 months showed lameness. I contacted the breeder for genetic information. After a series of tests with three veterinarians - the third being OSU veterinarians, it was concluded he has Osteochondrosis Dessicans (OCD) bilaterally in his tarsal (ankles) joints and bilateral elbow dysplasia. OCD is a genetic issue that is painful to the dog, besides very expensive to maintain comfort not to mention medical therapies. I contacted the breeder two more times. The third time I was given an option of returning the dog for a new puppy! I explained that now at a year old I wasn't interested in that. She asked what I wanted... I strongly suggested to stop the breeding! They haven't. DO NOT BUT FROM STARLITE LABRADORS IN FORT WAYNE, Indiana
