Select Home Warranty GE advantium 120

Microwave part of oven stopped working (11/12/220. Called Select Home Warranty to file claim (11/13/22). I received an e-mail asking me to call them. I was advised to find my own it would be a month before a repair tech could take care of my problem and I should find my own repair service and then I needed to call to get authorization for repair. I was able to find a repair service that came out on 11/18/22 for diagnosis. I e-mailed estimate and received reply that they would respond within 24 hours. On 11/21/22 I still had no response and once again reached out for authorization for repair. I was told that I would have a response 11/22/22. Still no response. Repair Tech had appointment at 9:00 am so I called while he was here to get authorization. I was on phone 20 minutes and then told that I would be given a buy out of $125.00. My repair estimate was $293.00 including parts and labor. They said that replacement value for my oven. I talked my repair tech and was told that the exact same oven would cost over $2,000 to replace. He could not understand how they came up with that amount. To get the $125.00 I have to show provide a paid in full invoice. My repair tech said he has never seen a claim handled this way. This was my first claim with them. I have a three year policy and won be cancelling remainder of policy when my first year is up which will be 12/12/22. Stay away from this company. I believe customer service is from Asia. Tried to call salesman and call never returned

Desired outcome: I want nothing further to do with this company. It's not worth my time to deal with them.

Select Home Warranty Won't honor the warranty...

In 2020, I purchased the SHW for one year. In 2021, I extended the contract for three more years. In the Fall of 2021, the defroster coil in my refrigerator went out. I filed a claim, got no response, and had to call and email SHW several times to get a response. After several days, SHW advised me that they were having trouble finding someone to do the repair. After several more days, SHW advised me that Sears Service Department was sending someone out.

Sears came to my home, worked on the refrigerator, and told me it was repaired. I paid my $75 to the repairman. Several days later, the defrost unit was again leaking water. I called the Sears repairman, left a message several times. He finally contacted me, and told me that I would have to file a new claim with SHW, which I did. This started another round of no responses from SHW.

When I finally was able to talk with someone from SHW, they advised me that my problem was not covered by SHW, to read my contract. A back and forth with SHW, attempting to speak with people that had such strong accents that I could barely understand them. I would be told that the claim was under review, and I would hear back from SHW within two days. NOT...

This has gone on for a year, with the same conversation, the same notification that SHW does not warrant this particular repair issue, even though they had already authorized the initial claim last year. Each time I speak with someone, they again tell me that the claim is under review, and assure me someone will contact me in two days. When I ask to speak with a manager, I'm always told that there is no manager available.

It is obvious that SHW is a scam, that they have the phone representatives in another country that take the claim calls, and it's also obvious that these phone reps are reading the answers from a book, since all of them give me the exact same answer.

This company needs to be shut down. My guess is that the so-called POSITIVE reviews, that I initially found online, are false reviews put out by SHW.

Desired outcome: I want my refrigerator repaired. I want SHW to honor their contract, or I want all of my money back.

Select Home Warranty HVAC system replaced on their approval and not a penny reimbursed

I was given the approval to replace my 25+ year old HVAC system after several repairs over the 6 years. I've not had any real issues with SHW, but this is claim I submitted recently was rejected (after they've given me the approval), due to the technicallity that the work not being being audited by them before the work started. It states that in small print somewhere in the contract.

How cruel can this be? This replacement cost me more than $12,000 and they refuse to reimburse me a single penny..This is after they've approved the replacement!

I am livid right now and they are sticking to their decision of not paying me anything. I would have settled for a 50% or less after taking depreciation etc, into account.

I need and want legal representation and advice, because this is eating me up inside! There is no way I would have picked up this clause on my own.

Select Home Warranty Failed to live up to the agreement

On 10/22/2022 I filed an online claim with select home warranty, on which I have a contract paid in a timely matter. After getting no response after 3-4 days by neither email or telephone, I called Select Home customer service. I was told that they could not find a service company to come out to service my washer, but I could try to locate one on my own and would reimburse the charges. It took me a couple of days to find a service company, but I did finally find one (Old Homestead appliance repair) they came out, diagnosed, and completed repairs on 11/03/2022 for the sum of $335.52, which I paid in full. Upon submitting the necessary paperwork to select, their response was they will not reimburse me for said repairs due to 'unauthorized repairs'

Desired outcome: I feel that when Select Home Warranty failed to live up to the agreement of the contract that they breached such contract, and should be compelled to reimburse me 'in full' $335.52 for repairs done on my washer.

Select Home Warranty Claims - they wont cover anything!!

Last year in Feb 2022, my heat went out.. it took over 3 weeks before I could get them to actually cover the claim. They sent Sears out to fix it. Now in the end of Oct, the same heating system went out. They sent a different company out and that company said they couldn't work on it because the other company put in the wrong control board. Now, 2 weeks later, Sears tech came out to fix it and SHW wouldn't approve it! They said they had to review it. They've been reviewing it for 2 weeks! and in the mean time I'm sitting in a very cold house! They find any BS excuse to not cover things. I bought extra coverage for my sprinkler system, put in a claim and they found yet another bs excuse to not cover it. The same bs w/ the gas line to my fireplace! They are the WORST! EVER

Desired outcome: Get heating system fixed asap so I can have heat in my house!

Select Home Warranty in Sink Erator

Resolution Nov. 8th

Select Home Warranty is a bait-and-switch company. They advertise if a unit can't be repaired, they will replace it. They however have a clause in small print that if they determine, the repair is too much for the company they will give you a small check to go towards the repair/replacement. The amount doesn't even replace the unit itself. In addition, I never received an invoice on how much the Tech said it would cost. This is false advertising at it's finest... If they would have communicated the repair would cost too much and that they would just replace the unit I would be somewhat ok.. I will leave them as soon as the contract is up!

Didn't realize what clicking on the helpful buttons would do. So the 7 and 10 is bogus. SHW is a scam and a fraud. I'm talking to the same two people every time I call. The people behind this will certainly reap what they sow and I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure they do.

Select Home Warranty Policy number# 1549504

We want to complaints select home warranty - they rip-off & stolen customer money.

In august/12/ 2022 we purchased home warranty for $1320.00 for 3year. (us policy number: 1549504). After 1 month-we tried to file a claim no#[protected] for fix us hot water. It’s claimed on september15/ 2022. Because us hot-water was not working (only cold water). On the phone they said they will send some company plumper for fix us water heater. But they never show-up> in us house. Total 5 days no one come to us house (all of us used cold water only) after 5 days - they don't send any plumber come for fix heater & hot wanter. We are so madly.. We requested cancel contract.. It's all caused above we don't want to do more businesss with them... I requested full refund $1320.00- but I cannot belevied it.. They told us they will charger us $90.07 for services fee. We asked - what's fee? You guys did not send anyone come to us house. No one call or no one come. In contract said:"in 24hrs to 48 hrs" someone will come us house... But they're liar.. They tried to steal money from customer.. (they did not do anything, but they tried charge a fee... Can't believed..)

We paid them for $1320.00 full - now they said they refund only $1229.93- different $90.07 for services fee

Please investigated all us & requested them to refund us money. Full refund $1320.00. If you need more information feel free to contact us at [protected] or [protected]

In AUGUST/12/ 2022 We purchased home warranty for $1320.00 for 3year. (US POLICY NUMBER: 1549504). Select Home Warranty Dishwasher repair claim #[protected] -3 weeks and not fixed

Its now been 3 weeks since claim was filed. They reliable appliance to do diagnostic and reliable said they do that a lot out dol not have a contract with Select warranty, finally got CTI to do diagnostics. But the parts are not even ordered because CTI said Select has not approved it and Select says CTI has not submitted diagnostics.

Its all about denial and delay so the customer will give up

They take your money and then don't provide the service timely if at all.

Desired outcome: Please refund half of my payment, enough to fix the appliance.

Select Home Warranty Deceptive marketing and incompetence

In late July 2022 we called SHW to file a claim for an HVAC breakdown, After a few days we called to follow up and were told there was no record of a claim I their system. So the agent created another claim. A few days later we received a text message apologizing for the delay. They were unable to find a service contractor in our area in spite of their marketing literature that states that SHW has the industry's largest service contractor network. On August 17th we were notified that the technicians were backed up and that we had the option of finding our own contractor but that the pre-set authorization limit was $100. We needed to get their authorization if the repair was above that amount and before any repairs could be done. On September 8th we were advised that we were approved for the full allowable policy maximum of $150 and to allow 30 days to receive the check. On Oct. 5th we called yet again to follow up on the reimbursement only to be told we had to fill out an agreement form and that it would take 30 days to receive the check. Not only did we pay a substantial amount for the service contract, but we incurred additional costs

including having to buy a portable air conditioner since our area was under a severe heat wave. There is no benefit from purchasing a contract from Select Home Warranty. Buyer Beware!

Select Home Warranty Unauthorized charges

I called in to cancel my warranty in May 2022. They transferred me to the loyalty department and the gentleman I spoke with tried to save me as a customer. I told him I wanted to cancel the warranty multiple times. I noticed today 11/2022 that the charges have been coming out of the bank every month for $62.49 since May. I called in and they transferred me back to the loyalty department and the lady said okay we can cancel your warranty and we will be charging you a $75 cancellation fee. I have had a new warranty company since I have canceled and now I have been paying for both companies. I asked for my money back and she said she will be charging me $75. I expect to get my $378 back and not be charged $75 because they didn’t cancel it like I asked them to do.

Select Home Warranty Complaint

I saw the reviews on Select Home Warranty and thought it would be an excellent company with which to protect my home. Not true! I don't know who these people are who say that Select Home Warranty is the best home warranty company, but I think these reviews are as bogus as the company! I paid almost $800 out-of-pocket to have a heating contractor order a new gas valve for my furnace. I had the technician talk to a customer service rep, and I provided pictures of the unit as well as the contact information for the company that serviced the unit in the past. They denied my claim, stating that I did not provide maintenance records. The help line connects to the Philippians, so on top of everything else, I was dealing with people who did not understand me and whom I could not understand half the time. All in all, Select Home Warranty is a waste of money, and I have since cancelled my policy with them. If you have a contract with them, I suggest you do the same before you waste any more money on a company that will find any way it can NOT to pay a claim!

Select Home Warranty Home warranty

We purchased a home warranty from Select Home Warranty. The one sheet contract that we received from them stated they would repair or replace the item. The technician determined on August 17, 2022 that the dishwasher could not be repaired and recommended replacement. We filed a claim and to our surprise they only would reimburse $225. Where can you by a dishwasher for $225? Especially one in a luxury high-end home. They never mentioned the value would be prorated. When we filed the claim, they didn't tell us that we would have to complete a reimbursement agreement until I called to inquire about our reimbursement one week after filing the claim. I completed and submitted the reimbursement form and promptly received an email advising it could be up to 30 days (not business days) before I received a check. I called on the 30th day to find out where the check is and the rep said it's 30 business days. I called again on the 30th business days and the rep said I should get it any day. I have made 4 calls since and received different stories each time. Per the last rep I talked to I was supposed to receive the check on 10/26/2022. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Beware!

Desired outcome: I want the reimbursement check overnighted to me.

Select Home Warranty Repairing Oven

I had file complain about having issues with Tharmdor oven on October 10th and technician found problem with control board. Select home refuse to change the control board and offers $ 150 to fix the issue or replace the oven myself and submitting receipt of that.

Select home doesn’t cover any appliances when it cost them money to fix or replace it and comes with all kind of excuses.

What a rip-off company that wants the money for insurance but don’t want to cover those appliances. SCAM company !

Desired outcome: Would like that company fix the issue or or replace the appliance with new one as they advertise

Select Home Warranty Coverage

I have a policy with select home warranty. they have been giving me a run around about covering a water heater issue. I have submitted information that they have requested and they seem to not be able to locate that infirmation. I have also had my plumber submit a diagnostic report with photos and they can't even tell me if they have received this report. So far there have been three case numbers attached to this complaint and they want to reopen a new claim.

Select Home Warranty Not paying for replacement.

My water heater is inoperative and a new one will cost $1800 parts and labor. Select Home Warranty only will pay $200 even though when I got the policy it was explained that other than a service fee, $75, Select Home Warranty would pay the rest. They will not even pay the $200 upfront, I have to submit a claim for that. I called Select Home Warranty’s customer service and I reached a call center where I could barely understand the lady I was talking to. When I told the technician what was going on he shared with me some of the stories previous clients have had with the company. Avoid Select Home Warranty, my current policy expires Feb. 2023 and I will not renew it!

Desired outcome: Select Home Warranty needs to pay for the cost of the water heater.

Select Home Warranty Heater

I called Selecty Home Warranty and said it was an emergency that my furnace was completely down and it was in the 30's outside. They left me without heat for a whole week while they went through with their "resolution and authorization process." A whole week later, I told them a local contractor was going to replace the part that was broken. I had the company call Select and explain. Still nothing. I had to shell out $800 of my own money for the contractor to order the part. When the technician arrived at my home A WEEK LATER, he told Selecty Home Warranty that to fix my furnace would cost $1000. The representative asked the tech how much it would cost to replace the furnace. He said is it would cost between $2500 and $3000. Select Home Warranty asked me to send a picture of my furnace and a record of maintenance. A week later I get an e-mail stating that Select Home Warranty would only pay me $150. This company is a total scam. They deserve to get sued and put out of business but because all they do is employee Filipino's, they will get away with it. Don't believe these bogus ads that give fake reviews. This company is worthless and criminal!

Select Home Warranty Did not fix or replace ceiling fan

This is the second time I have complained about this company on the same issue. On Aug. 10, 2022 I called Select Home Warranty about my celling fan not working. I was given a claim number [protected] and my contract number is 1562113, I was told that I would have to go and buy a celling fan and have someone install it then send them the bill, then they would reimburseme $40.00. According to their contract they are suppose to send someone out to either fix or replace it. This has never happened. I called the Better Business Bureau about Sept 13, 2022 and 2 days later Select Home Warranty called me telling me that they would get someone right away. This never happened. I then called Select Home Warranty again on Sept 26, 2022 and was told that they would email me someone name that would fix the fan, this never happened. EVERYTHING THESE PEOPLE HAVE TOLD ME HAS BEEN A LIE. They have lied to me right from the beginning. Can you tell me what other options I can take against this company? I feel that I should be reimbursed my full fees that I paid in sense they are in breach of contract.

Desired outcome: Either replace celling fan or refund all of my money

Select Home Warranty Home warranty and claims not being solved

Been following up with the sales rep, claims department and the technician for past 3.5 weeks on for the simple Dishwasher claim.

I am getting wrong and misguided information from the claims department.

Unfortunately according to sales rep, I can not even withdraw from the contract for 6 months.

My money is locked in, I don't have any help and there is no Escalations Department.

Stay away from this fraud company.

Select Home Warranty Home Wrranty

Warning - Do not use Select Home Warranty - They will not cover your appliance failure costs, and they will be very difficult to work with.

My story:

Purchased a 6-year-old home, and as a part of the transaction negotiated a Home Warranty to be included, paid for by the seller.

The seller provided us with "Platinum Care" one year Home warranty which the Select Home Warranty marketed as a "shield your wallet" product. Platinum care is the highest level of coverage sold by Select Home Warranty.

7 months into our ownership of the home, when we shifted from using the HVAC system from heat to cooling, we started getting a Error Code 86 showing on my thermostat, and the system could not keep the house cool. I called the Select Home Warranty number, [protected], and was instructed by a recording to file my claim online at selecthomewarranty.com. I completed the on-line claim form and waited for a response.

In the meantime, I contacted the HVAC company that had originally installed the HVAC system (there was a sticker on the unit in the garage), and I had them come out and assess the problem. The HVAC repair company identified three different problems: 1) the outdoor condenser unit needed to be cleansed, 2) the freon level was low and needed to be recharged, and 3) the communications board had failed and needed to be replaced. It took several weeks for the replacement comm board to arrive. I worked with the HVAC repair company to get the cost of the comm board part covered under the original equipment warranty. So, they charged me only for the labor of installing the new comm board. When everything was said and done, I paid a bill for $1,007.50 from the HVAC repair company.

Having not heard back for Select Home Warranty for 2 months after I filed my initial claim, I called the [protected] number again, and waited/insisted on speaking to a live person to find out what the status of my claim was. The representative that helped me first told me that she could not find any policy written for my property - even though I was holding an invoice from them with a copy of the check paid by the title company in my hand. She tried several times to find the policy using different numbers, and then told me that because she could not find a policy, she could not help me and that I needed to hang up. I asked her to transfer me to her supervisor. She informed me that since I did not know the policy number, that she could not transfer me to a supervisor. I asked her what my next steps would be and what she expected me to do with this situation. She said she could not help me. full stop.

Finally, the rep asked me for the invoice number that I had in my hand. I read her the number and she said "oh, that's the policy number!" I'm thinking to myself: how could you be blowing me off a minute ago, and now you have my policy number from the invoice we discussed 10 minutes before... The rep then proceeded to tell me that she found my original claim in their data base. When I asked why I had not been contacted (I provided phone and email address on the on-line claim form), she had no answer. She transitioned the conversation to what the problem had been with the air conditioning and what I had done about it. I told her that there had been three problems identified and that I had them fixed. Now, all I needed was to be reimbursed for my $1,007.50 expense. She told me that I would be receiving an Email with instructions in it on how to scan and send a copy of the bill I had paid for the repairs the HVAC system.

Within a few minutes after I had gotten off the phone with the SHW rep, I received 2 emails from SHWclaims stating: "We thank you for contacting us with additional information regarding your A/C, Cooling claim. We are in the process of finding a local technician to come to your home to diagnose your A/C, Cooling. This process usually takes up to 48 hours, and an email will be sent to you with the Technicians information." I'm thinking: "this is unbelievable. Do they not understand the problem has already been fixed?"

After thinking about it, I decided to respond to the email summarizing the already completed repair status, attaching my expense invoice, and again asking for reimbursement of the $1007.50 that I was out of pocket on the AC system repairs.

A few days later, I received an Email back from SHWclaims stating: "After a Review of the diagnosis concerning the specific issue with your HVAC system, your unit does need Freon. It has been determined that your Policy Does Not Cover this issue, the HVAC system needs Freon and unfortunately Freon Recapture is not covered by your policy. Please see section 6.3.6 of the policy agreement." I'm thinking to myself: 1) I was not aware that there were any repair limitations, aside from possibly a deductible, and 2) what about the other two problems that were not freon related? How can you send me an email only addressing freon when there were multiple problems listed on the repair invoice?

So, I sent back another Email to SHWclaims summarizing the status of the claim and asking about reimbursement for the non freon related issues. within hours I received an Email back asking me to call the SHW number to discuss my claim over the phone, which I did. The SHW rep informed me that in addition to freon not being covered by the warranty, that cleaning of the coils was not covered by the warranty, and that labor required to replace the failed comm board was (you guessed it), not covered by the home warranty they sold. She quoted me subparagraphs in the policy (a copy of which I had never received from the title company or anyone else – whose fault that is, I don’t know.)

I informed the representative that I felt it was FRAUD for SHW to market a home warranty with the catch phrase "shield your wallet", that doesn't cover the costs of repair when the system clearly failed. I had their "Platinum Care", top of the line policy, and I have nothing in terms of coverage. So, now that this company has exposed who they really are, I want to get the word out, so others don't buy this worthless policy.

I also want to comment that SHW strategically makes it very difficult to communicate with them by using on-line claim submittal forms that aren't responded to, sending vague boilerplate emails, and having call center reps who stonewall and can't answer questions. At one point the SHW rep told me: "we've already provided resolution for this claim", to which I said: "your resolution is to pay me nothing", and she said "yes". Select Home Warranty Failure to live up to advertised service a/c repair

This complaint arises from the inability for select home to honor their warranties or assist the individuals who have purchased them. I purchase a warranty for five years based on the salesperson promises of better service and faster solutions for problems. I had a A/C unit stop working and filed a claim, the technician came and diagnosed the problem as the compressor locking up and due to this it resulted in a capacitor blowing. The unit is an older unit and utilizes R-22 freon which is no longer accepted except in current working units. This means that a new R-12 unit would need to be installed and the unit retrofitted for the R-12. The estimate for the procedure was around $4500 to do so. Select came back and offered to pay $600 dollars to settle, this amount would not even buy the compressor which runs in the neighborhood of 1500 to 2000 dollars. I complained and requested to speak to a supervisor when I called. I ended up calling eight times and did not speak to a supervisor till the last time. I asked to company to uphold their advertising and policy and replace the unit with a comparable unit. They stated that $600 dollar was going to be their only offer and wouldn't even consider compromising on the cost and splitting it. I will be cancelling my insurance with them and filiing a complaint with the attorney general of the state for fraudulent practices and getting in touch with local television stations. I will probably be looking into the possibility of a lawsuit as their lack of handling the situation promptly put myself and wife in jeopardy due to existing health problems. My recommendation to other individuals considering this company would be to not go with them but consider more reliable company and individuals who will work for their customers.

Desired outcome: No outcome was arrived and am requesting that my policy be cancelled and a refund be issued for the rest of my purchase.
