Today…after 5 years of shopping Safeway, I experienced the rudest, angriest, and unsettled employee that I have ever had the displeasure of crossing paths with. To the point Safeway corporate should be concerned that she is representing Safeway in a store, in any capacity. She is either someone that has been angry all her life, or, just got freed from the wrestling ring.

This incident occurred today, at around 445pm at the Glen Cove Safeway located in Vallejo, Ca. The quick check out person, known as Lia, became belligerent and visceral over a request to assist on a coupon that was not scanning. I tried to show her the picture of the item and the store app message and she became belligerent. We were talking anoint 3 items for extra 1.50 off (total of $4.50). She literally told me I didn’t know how to operate the app, even after explaining, or trying to explain, that her manager (amazing woman), has helped with the same item two days before. She started screaming and when I asked for her manager (who I saw 10 feet away bagging), she literally said ‘nah it’s going to be a while for you to get a manager’ and walked away.

When the manager came over, she also tried to scan the item, and lo and behold, guess what, it didn’t work and popped the same error. I asked the manager to please call Lia over which she did. Even after the manager demonstrated it for her, she put her hand up and said you still need to know how to work the app…. I asked for the corporate manager information which Lia jumped in and said I;l get that for you and make sure you know my name. She started saying more things as I finished paying. She then came and said here you have it now and gave me the information saying again, make sure you know my name. Then as I am walking out by her, she started being loud again and saying learn how to use the app and make sure you say my name right or corporate won’t know it’s me. She continued saying things and screaming across the store as I exited. I continued to say, ok Lia have a good day and exited.
