Regus Bait and switch scam

Signed up for Regus expecting to pay for what was advertised. In one month I was billed over 700 and only used the office a total of five days. When I called for three additional days, instead of modifying my agreement as I was led to believe, they opened a separate account and billed me 329.00. If contacted them repeatedly, received no satisfaction. That’s more than a thousand dollars. I was able to find a full time office for less than that! Yes, they’re trying to bill me north of $1000.00 dollars for five days of use in a month.

I am now this evening in the process of drafting formal complaints to the FTC and my states attorney general.

Do some research, they’ve been sued in class actions, and recently for these bait and switch schemes.

And yes, this company is a scam, they’ll bait and switch you and then threaten collections while you have an active dispute in process, as is currently happening to me.

Don’t buy into the responses by [edited] here either, I’ve contacted her and was directed straight back to the online help desk. Phone calls seem to resolve exactly nothing.

Desired outcome: I Waive remaining charges AND refund me all by the advertised 200 (roughly) price for a month.

Regus Not providing a fit for purpose service and then charging unfair restoration fees

To whom it may concern,

I joined Spaces, Whiteley, in May 2022. As a hypnotherapist, with a team of practitioners, my stipulation for any office rental lease that I signed to was that the office location would need to be as quiet as possible. This is an absolute necessity of the work that I do, as if working in a noisy office, this will easily negatively impact on the effectiveness of the session and on the client experience.

Both myself and the team were very happy in our Whiteley office until December 2022, when some larger offices were filled nearby. This resulted in the corridor right outside of my office becoming a through flow for everyone in the larger offices who walked passed to use the kitchen and toilet facilities and then back again. This caused issues due to talking in the corridor and the fact that there was a fire door right next to my office, which was now regularly banging (a client counted 16 bangs of the fire door in the first 5 minutes of her hypnosis live recording).

I approached the centre team seeking a resolution that worked for both parties, as my office was no longer fit for purpose. I suggested three possible solutions, one being to put a door silencer on the fire door. I even stated that I was happy to cover the cost of this. This option was refused by the centre manager, who told me that if he asked this of people more senior in the business, they would tell him I needed to be moved. There was no room for negotiation and the only option I had was to move.

I would like to add that I appreciate that Spaces is a shared business rental space. However, my stipulation when I joined was that the office needed to be in a quiet location with as little noise as possible due to the highly sensitive, confidential nature and requirements of the work that I do. I was leased a 12 month contract, which I signed in good faith, which then became untenable due to business decisions made by the centre. As stated, there was no negotiation and the only option was for me to move. I then also had to pay a restoration fee of £195.84 for a move that was a result of decisions of the Spaces business, was not through my choice, and I had tried to find alternative solutions but these were refused. I considered this to be extremely unfair, as the stipulation through which I signed the original lease was no longer being met, yet I was financially penalised for this. I decided to let it go at this stage.

I now write this having leased an additional office at Regus, Portsmouth. Again, my stipulation was that it needs to be quiet. I visited the office, on an initial short visit it seemed to be acceptable and I initially leased it on a rolling monthly contract, in part because of our experience at Whiteley and that I did not want a repeat of this. My colleagues have since used the Portsmouth office on a number of occasions and it is completely unfit for purpose. It is noisy, there are doors banging and people talking, with other office doors also being left open meaning that noise is travelling. We have already had client complaints. Furthermore, we live record sessions to provide our clients with recordings. My team are having to re-record the session at home due to the noise in Portsmouth, which I am having to pay them for, so I am out of pocket even further. This is completely unacceptable and unsustainable for the business.

Due to the terms and conditions of the lease, I am having to pay for the Portsmouth Office for the whole of April, despite it not meeting my business needs, which I stipulated when I was sold the lease on this particular office, and these have not been met. I am also being informed that I will have to pay the restoration fee, for an office that has barely been used, we have furnished it ourselves and it is not fit for purpose.

I have approached the Account's help desk, who are saying that they cannot help me and directed me to the center team. The center team are saying that cannot help me and have directed me back to the Account's help desk. I do understand it is impossible to control all noise. However, the noise level at Portsmouth and constant banging of fire doors right next to my office that I experienced in Whiteley is above and beyond what is acceptable.

In short, I have now been leased two offices that have either become, or are not, fit for purpose, there has been no leeway in terms of negotiation to avoid an office move at Whiteley and I have been financially penalised as a result. I am now also out of pocket due to having to pay my colleagues for additional work that they have to do at home due to an unacceptable level of noise in the Regus Office in Portsmouth.

I am therefore requesting that I am able to give notice of a 2 week period on the Portsmouth office, effective as of Friday 24th March when I cancelled the agreement, so terminating on Friday 7th April. I also formally request that the restoration fee on the Portsmouth office is waivered.

I would like to add that I intend on keeping my current office at Spaces, Whiteley and have relatively recently signed a 12 month lease.

I look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

Kind regards, Bobby

[protected]@hhchypnotherapy.co.uk

Desired outcome: That I can give a 3 week notice period on the Portsmouth office, effective as of Friday 24th March. Restoration fee on the Portsmouth office is waivered.

Regus Scam billing for months after cancellation request in March of 2022.

My late husband had a virtual office with an S corp and died in 2017. My son tried to keep business afloat but due to Covid and other problems, decided to close down corp in 2022 and Tegus was notified we no longer needed the virtual office in March of 2022. They continued billing a credit card I closed down and eventually turned over the scam debt of $2839.80. I am his 85 year old widow and the collection letter came 2 days ago. This is terrible business practice! They are still billing monthly I year after cancellation and nothing is owed to them! I want them stopped!

Desired outcome: No debt whatsoever after paying them 21 years in Las Vegas and 7 years to HQ global in San Mateo for 2 actual offices. Terrible way to treat a long old client. And could be elder abuse also.

Regus Agreement

Hi. I make a complaint about my agreement with Regus house. I want to cancel my agreement for virtual office after a few days i open the account because they asked me to give them my id and other references. I told them that I can’t give them what they asked and therefore I am not complying with them rules so they should close my account and stop charging me. Now is 3 months and keep charging me and told that I have to pay until the end of the contract for 1 years even if I am not complying with their terms. I make complain, I call, I send emails and same result. I have to pay for something I don’t use and I am not complying with the rules they have. Please someone help me and advise how to close the account with them. Be careful and don’t use Regus House. I can stop this horrible situation with them. Be very careful if you choose them. Best regards E.V.A.CONSTRUCT.

Hi. I think you misunderstood. When I make the contract agreement I didn’t know about using my ID details. You also said now in the message that it is illegal to provide Virtual Office services to me. I will ride again so you can understand. I can’t provide my ID. therefore you should close my account and stop charging me. This is a nightmare. Please someone help me and advise me how to stop this nightmare. Please if you read this message don’t use Regus House. They only charge you and it never ends until the end of agreement which is not right. I try to close my account after a few days when I open it. They tell me that if I login online I can close my account but they don’t tell you that you can’t close it once you open it until the end of agreement even you are not complying with their terms. So they take money and you have no rights. Please be careful with them and think more before opening an account with Regus House.

Regus Overcharging and incorrect billing

I signed an agreement with Regus Parkland Office in Colombo Sri Lanka in February 2023. They started their billing from January 2023. When I complained, they deducted the amount from the invoice, but did not update the account statement, so the over charge still remains in the outstanding balance. I have tried several times to get this resolved with the local office team and the accounts team (which appear to be international). No updated statement of accounts sent. Then last week I got an email from their debt collection team for the incorrect balance. I then sent an email to all three (local office, Accounts and the debt collection) and still no response.

This is not the first time I had to escalate regus billing to their international offices. They try to complicate and convolute the billing to such an extent, they end up confusing their own staff. are confused by their own invoicing. If there was an alternative service provider, I would have switched a long time ago!

Desired outcome: I just want the correct bill so I can pay it! Is that too much to ask?

Regus Unauthorised charge and renewal of contract

Outlet:

21 Merchant Rd, #04 to #06 Park Regis Office Tower, Singapore 058267

Summary of events:

1. Regus sent contract to seek renewal

2. There are 2 emails provided to Regus for contact, however, only one was informed and that email belonging to an employee already resigned, hence company is not aware of the contract

3. Regus, did not receive reply/confirmation, went ahead to renew the contract and did not even try to contact the other email provided to Regus

4. We approached the customer service and were forced to take on another 6-month contract where the company is not aware of such and we were told that "we did not inform Regus to cancel the renewal etc"

5. Question: How can we inform WHEN WE ARE NOT EVEN AWARE IN THE VERY FIRST PLACE and 2 EMAILS (Instead of one) were provided

6. New contract will commence on "April 2023", I do not know if this is a tactic to have delayed replies to us so when the contract it will make it even harder for the client to cancel

Desired outcome: I would appreciate any resolution from Regus Singapore, instead of using the "contract" to stand their ground

Regus Regus bellefield office park "lease" scam

I was currently using Regus's mailing service at Ballard.

I had informed Regus that I needed a office lease for my lcb alcohol license.

They introduced me to a sales manager [edited] and he introduced me to the Bellefield office park regus office in Bellevue. I liked the place, and asked if it was a "lease"(it is very important to know if its a lease because of LCB standards). He said yes, and kept calling afterwards despite the fact that I told him that I needed time.

Afterwards I signed the yearly agreement starting from March 2nd, 2023 because I needed to apply for the license. The LCB asked me for certain documents(affidavit of landlord, site plan, floor plan etc.), and I requested them to [edited] . From this moment [edited] was suddenly very slow in replying, showing a very different attitude compared to when he was always calling me for sales.

All of a sudden, [edited] told me that he could not give me the documents to me because regus is just a service and "this is not a lease nor a sub-lease"(which I was informed as a lease at the first place). Without the documents I could not apply for the license, so I could not proceed with my business, so I requested a refund and cancel to the agreement since the agreement was starting from march and it was December, 2022 ~January, 2023 at that time.

He told me that it was impossible. I asked for some mercy and some help because without the business going I could not make any money to afford the office. Then, he told me that if I pay for a month rental fee for February, 2023 I could change my year agreement to a month to month agreement and cancel the agreement. I did as I was told and signed another month to month agreement.

All of a sudden [edited] said he cant cancel the month to month agreement as well. I was now charged with two agreements. I was so upset, I told him I was going to take action for this. I called many lawyers and was preparing for a lawsuit, and suddenly today(March 21st) he mailed me that the month to month agreement was cancelled but the year agreement is still valid.

This actually meant that cancelling the agreement is a possible thing to do, but I am pretty sure that they just waited for March to pass so they could charge me for using the office(which I have'nt used at all)

I have almost lost my business due to this nonsense, my license application was suspended (I applied again and it made all of my business preparation delayed) and I have about 5,000 $ still retained by REGUS which really is almost everything I have. I have a record of all the messages and email that went back and forth, and based on this info I am preparing whatever it takes to report this nonsense.

Desired outcome: Please refund, and cancel my agreement.

Regus Fob and key - honestly the worst place to have an office in

Hi

The St albans Regus has been unfriendly in resolving issues and they charge me for everything.

I returned both fobs and keys while vacating and now they have been emailing me for an additional 50£ and claim i have not returned one key. This is outrageous and unfair. I asked them to check cctv and now they are charging me for seeing the cctv. really?

I really dont understand why you rip people out . the other day i asked for a spare chair and they charged me 10£ for 1 hour.

When i first had my office here they charged me for 6 months together without informing me and then refunded 5 months of rent back after i complained. Apparently it was a admin mistake - luckily i had the funds,

We are a startup and the only reason i left Regus is because its really unfriendly and only rip people off.

Please resolve this - its such a shame to have a company with so many offices with such poor communication with their clients.

I left this place as its very unfriendly , please resolve this key issue.

Desired outcome: Please understand i had taken 2 keys and 2 fobs and returned both. The one assigned to a prev employee has been returned through my new employee. We cannot create new fobs. Close this for me.

Regus A wire laying outside the building

On the 14th March 2023 I had an induction with a company, half way through the meeting, I was told I can go and get some lunch, as I proceeded to my car, I tripped over the wire, this happened around 13.30pm, a passer by saw me fall, they came over, and asked if I was alright, I did manage to get up, but I was in agony, they did mention that they worked in the building, once I managed to get my lunch, I went back to the building, I informed the manager and two other people of the company, that I was on the induction with, what happened, I have attached photos

Regus Unethical practices

Cardea Health is a small, Oakland-based, female and veteran led nonprofit whose nurses and caregivers provide clinical services to people experiencing homelessness.

As a growing nonprofit, Cardea Health recently began seeking office space. The Regus Oakland Lake Merritt salesperson, [edited], offered a small office space with free parking and 4% year-over-year rent increases, which made it an attractive and affordable option. However, as the process progressed, it became apparent that in fact the parking for staff costs more per month than the office rent, and Cardea would be subject to 10% year-over-year rent increases. Upon learning this, Cardea notified Regus that they would not be moving forward with the lease. In spite of this, Regus continues to send notices to Cardea demanding rent payment, and is now threatening to send Cardea to collections.

Regus refuses to honor the commitments made by their salesperson, nor have they made their personnel available for resolution of this issue. Regus simply continues to state that ‘it is in our system and we can’t change it, so you have to pay’.

Desired outcome: Regus must remove us from its system, and acknowledge that we are not bound by a lease whose terms we did not agree to

Regus Regus coworking offices Richmond London UK

I contracted with Regus for co-working space in the Richmond office from January to September 2022 (Account number [protected]).

I terminated my contract in September 2022.

On the 1st of September, I sent an email to the manager, informing him that I had lost the locker's key and would need a replacement. I need to recover my things in the locker, so I sent several emails to the manager at the Richmond offices without an answer.

I never received the key, and then I terminated my contract.

Also, I never received my deposit back (requested on 28/10/22). The app mentions the need to amend bank details. I have tried to do it many times, but it has a bug and does not recognize the sort code of my bank.

Desired outcome: Recover my things in the locker and have my deposit back

Also, I’m still waiting for the deposit of my retainer.

Regarding my deposit, I got an email asking for my bank details. I sent my bank details on the 16th of March, but I haven't received the deposit back yet.

Regus Office rent

I got a contract for one year with Regus Gaziantep in Turkey and we completed almost half of the period till a huge earthquake happened on 8 Feb. the one that all the world spoke about for a month. as a company we requested to move to a different branch or to cancel the contract but they refused.

I totally understand the long-term agreement but this incident of force Majeure it has to have its own condition and not treat the contract like nothing happens. the month of February the building of Regus was not assessed to be safe but they charged the fees completely.

I would like to explore my legal rights for a company selling me something that I cannot have access to and how to cancel the contract in such a disaster.

I hoped that Regus will at least take a stand for this but obviously nothing!

Desired outcome: cancelling the service without cutting from the deposit

I appreciate your clarification but it is not useful,

the centre was unfunctional for weeks and it has been no official assessment of the building till now. so, you either ask the customer to attend an unsafe building or you ask them to pay for a service they did not use!

In addition, I have been informed (by the branch of Gaziantep when I first joined) that I can move the service to a different Regus branch in a different city but this request has been rejected by the branch.

Regus Over charging and poor treatment

I was only innregus for 2 months. They overcharged me on both months. I rented a room for £600 a month and ended up paying nearly 3k in 2 months and they still say I owe them £500. I've been verbally abused by the office manager at king shill and thing up on when calling to enquire about the additional charges. It's been the least professional experience of my life and hosted me a fortune.

Regus Mail Forwarding

I was assured by Regus/Its Agents that the mail forwarding services will be provided to me before signing the Contract and assured that for any reason I am not happy with the service I can give them 30 days’ notice and terminate the contract. But that’s not what happened after signing the contract. For some paperwork reason, Regus refused to provide me the mail forwarding service and refused to terminate the service soon after signing the contract. Instead Regus insisted there is no early termination exists. Regus cannot provide the service, and I must pay for no service. That’s unfair business practice.

Desired outcome: Referred to Debt Collect by Regus.

Regus Regus Virtual Office

This company will take anyone off the street and stick them in an office that is shared. They deliberately create an unsafe office environment by placing you in danger with tenants who are dangerous, steal, harass and invade your privacy.

There is zero customer service. This is a completely dysfunctional company that should be put out of business. Avoid this company like the plague.

Untrue! If you had no office space the business lounge was your cheap space to work. You knew what you were paying for no privacy! Of course you’d have no privacy! Your expectations were unreasonable. Creeps are everywhere in San Fransicko. Public lobbies were free places to work but you couldn’t figure it out. Go find another city if you don’t like it.

Regus Virtual office

I signed up for a “virtual office” with regus. In October 2021 I spoke to a regus agent informing her that I did not want to renew a long term contract as I only needed mail forwarding for an unknown time period. She advised that the mail forwarding service was a month to month service. The monthly bills always varied despite the quoted monthly pricing, which no one at regus could ever explain. After February, 2022, I no longer was receiving forwarded mail from regus. I was informed by clients who were sending mail that the mail was being returned to them. I spoke with the regus agent Jennifer who said there just hadn’t been any mail. By August 2022, I contacted Regus and advised them to cancel all services immediately. The woman Jennifer I spoke with admired that the mail that was supposed to be forwarded was being returned. She advised that she would send me confirmation of the termination of services. She never did. Instead I kept receiving invoices. They chanted the phone number so the contact I had used for several years was out of service. I then started receiving collections notifications. The guest agency didn’t respond to any of my correspondence. Nor did regus. They just kept sending invoices. Yet another collection agency has contacted me by mail but when I called the representative could not provide any information about the account or amount requested. I spoke with a manager Jacklyn Brown who was of no help and just said Jennifer no longer works here and there is a new manager at the location so they can’t help you. I asked her to provide copies if their documents but she would not. She did provide me with her manager’s phone number and email. His name is John Carey. His voicemail has jo identification that it’s his voicemail. I emailed him regarding all of this and await his response.

Desired outcome: I want copies of all documents and calls with regus in relation to my account. I want all fees waived and a refund for fees paid from Feb 2022 forward.

No option for early termination. All they send is a "Courtesy reminder" for a two year contract without shame and auto-renew it without consent. I called their location (center) to ask about options for early termination. This is the first time I am calling them in two years holding their VO, and no one picked up the call, even after selecting "Urgent" on...

Regus Deceiving people of the rates and charging fees that are not discussed

My apologies as this email contains complains regarding Spaces in Calabasas, California.

Here are the events that happened:

1. December I inquired of the fees for virtual address, [edited] was the representative that I was able to talk to. What she shared was a $85 of month to month fee. That was the only number conveyed to me and no other information such as activation fee and double charges.

2. A few weeks later, I finally decided to sign up online of a promo for a month to month which was $79 not $85 of which I was quoted. I signed up and finally had my virtual address on December 28.

3. Two days after I received double charges to my account, I tried to reach out to [edited] but no reply to my email.

4. I raised this concern, I paid $79 in advance and I was charged again even if there was only barely a week that I am with spaces. [edited] replied and mentioned to me that these are the charges. Which was disappointingly not clear as I ahven't even consumed my first month.

5. I sent another email but no reply again, then I called. A new manager answered and promised to get back to me for the details and how to resolve it but no calls. I waited and still nothimg.

6. An invoice came of the activation fee of which again I was not told about and not mentioned in the online registration site. I disputed and still no one answered.

7. ANother invoice came from collections threatening me of the balance that I was not even aware where these numbers are coming from. I disputed this to [edited] and he said he is going to investigate. After a few days of thinking over, I decided to terminate the virtual address as it was obviously a bad business relationship. Until now no one has answered my email nor called back regrading my dispute and sadly I received another invoice.

8. It has been causing me so much inconvenience and distress. I'm sorry to say but that office are consist of very inefficient staff that do not care about their customers.

I kindly ask for your assistance in this. I appreciate you reading this.

Desired outcome: Terminate the Virtual business address, cancel the invoices that I was not even aware where these numbers are coming from. Compensation for my distress, this has been happening since last week of December.

This case is certainly not resolved. They want me to still stay with them despite my desire of not doing business with this company. They want me to pay 24 months, pay the activation and fee of which these were not disclosed when I called their representative. This is beyond words disappointing.

Lauren,

I appreciate this long explanation but unfortunately this was not the case. I initially called to gather information and these numbers were not discussed in the call. As I have previously mentioned, I have emailed Spaces Calabasas but it takes them weeks to reply. It started December and now its March and its still not resolved until now. These long explanation you stated here just to save Regus' business is not whats happening in your offices. And I highly suggest you look at it closely.

For sure I have been sending emails for 2 weeks, and no response, I signedup for a service at $90.00 and now they are charging me $115.00 for mail forwarding, and I did not signup for that, There is no response for over 2 weeks now, this place does not seem to treat the customers right at all. Its like a one big scam, I get emails randomly that say, thanks for signing up for additional service. I have never logedin or signedup for anything additional, they sent me those like 5 times in last 2 months, I have no idea what this place is doing !
