We decided not renew our subscription to Readers Digest and told them so. Of course they ignored this request and charged our credit card $32.98. When we complained about this they returned $21.98 to the credit card keeping $10.99 we complained about this oversight they ignored us again. They haven't returned any emails or money. What right do these crooks have to steal from us? I know this isn't much money, but why should we give it away to a rich company for nothing? We sure don't owe them this money!
How can you win an Ipod when the online site is not available
This seems again the usual to try to make you happy with nothing by simple not allawing to get on the website.
Very bad Service of Readers Digest
I have been receiving past due notices from Readers Digest even though I have not renewed my subscription. There is no phone number on the bill to call. I am not renewing my subscription only because of their practices of sending past due notices!
I have been receiving bills, now past, due from Readers Digest and I owe them nothing because I am not a subscriber to the magazine nor do I have one copy of it. There is no phone number on the bill to call and rectify the situation. How do I contact them to demand that they stop billing me?
These clowns keep sending me entry forms to win something on line There is never a place to enter . They have received my LAST subscription because they are driving me and other people crazy. As far as I am concerned they should not be allowed any space at all on any website.
Readers Digest is about as low as it can get. I have been getting their books for years, but now I am fed up with their phoney contests and underhanded ways.
Inserted into our last Readers Digest Magazine, was a book mark sized card telling us we could win a Nintendo Wii by e-mailing: www.rd.ca/wii and enter that 5 digit access code on the card to see if we win the Nintendo Wii. However, there is no such address on the internet.
They sent me a ballot to check if i won theres not even website, why would they do that when i send them a check for books i make sure the money is there don't treat people like fools.
For months the Readers Digest has been advertising contests where prizes can be won. When you attempt to gain access to the site to register there is nothing available. This is irresponsible and fraudulent exploitation. I did not think that such a household named magazine could stoop so low.
I was sent a letter in the mail with a cash payment pending free giveaway if I was to go online and enter my combination to this vault and the site could not even be found. I am not impressed!
The card in my Readers Digest offers a free surprise gift at www.rd.com/surprise. There is NO surprise!
What a rip off - it says just go to this site and enter your access code to see if u have won 1 of 5, 16gb ipod touches. Contest valid till may 31/2008 at midnight. No such site exists.
Readers Digest keep sending out "chances to win" at seemingly non-existent websites.
VERY FRUSTRATING!
Can't access site to enter contest. Agree everyone should not renew until more professional conduct from what we all think is a very upstanding publication
I DO NOT KNOW WHY READERS DIGEST PUT OUT THESE CONTESTS WHEN YOU CAN NOT GET ON THEIR WEB PAGE. IT IS A REAL SCAM PROBABLY TO TRY AND COLLECT INFO TO SELL TO OTHER COMPANIES
I wonder if the other person hit it on the nail. I wonder if the access code gets them ino your computer?
I have been buying thier books for almost 20 years along with thier monthly magazine.
I am wondering if I have been wasting my money on stamps entering a contest for nothing.
No such website. How can I get in to win if I can't access... www.rd.ca/ipodtouch says type in the access code to win one of five ipod touches 16 GB.
access code 65972

Readers Digest enclosed a card offering one of five 16GB ipod touches, and giving an access code to enter. There is no competition available on the website they give.
Does anyone ever win a Readers Digest competition?
Readers Digest offers a chance to win feee ipod touch by visiting their web site www.rd.ca/ipodtouch
And no web site opens
With my April Readers Digest there was a card saying I would get a surprise gift by registering online. I registered but there is no surprise!
I got a card saying go to this web site to get a free gif worth $20.00 or more all i got was pages and pages of complaints from people who DIDN'T get there free GIFT!
I think you will find them all on the internet under www.rd.ca surprise SHAMEFUL FOR SUCH A WELL KNOWN COMPANY THAT SO MANY PEOPLE BELIEVED IN WHOLE HEARTILY.
Imagine my surprise while trying to access this site to enter the latest contest to find out the site "DOES NOT EXIST". I think this constitutes false or misleading advertising and from what I have read it seems that this is not the first time Reader Digest has done this.
I got an insert with my r.d. magazine telling me to go to a web site to enter a contest I can't find the site!
Received card saying I had a free gift surprise and when I went to the web site I could not get any info. Beware of this scam!
I have wasted about an hour trying to find out who is sending me this magazine, and I am thoroughly disgusted. So quit wasting my time and give me an answer. I'm not as rude as you are, and would like to say thank you to somebody.
Was promised a surprise gift and could not even find a spot to log in as they said. I thought that this was a legitimate company.
Guess not!
What! You can't make it easy for people to find out what the gift is? What is wrong with you? You people should be ashamed of yourselves. I will NEVER get Readers Digest again!
no such site as rd.ca/ipodtouch on computer
I have tried to find a site to discomtinue receiving these books that are sent to me but have been unable to do so.I am not going to pay for any more of the books which I will discard.
Are you serious? There is NO IPOD TOUCH website accessible through Reader's Digest.
You must be really pathetic to have sunk so low!
As if those silly sweepstakes weren't enough to sucker people who can ill afford to be suckered...You've really struck the bottom now!
I have been trying to cancel a subscription for 6 months! The magazines stopped but they keep billing me. I have talked to countless people, faxed the information they requested and have been promised monthly that it has been taken care of. Right now I'm waiting for a call-back that was to take place last Thursday. Now I'm going to have to take it up with the credit card company. Beware of ordering promotional magazines for fundraisers or airmiles, at least that is the excuse Reader's Digest is using for the 6 month delay. their customer service leaves a lot to be desired!
I received two bills now from Reader's Digest stating I owe $31.36 for two books they say I ordered which I did not! I returned both books (Vol 1 &2) Crossfire about 2 months ago and have not recieved any confirmation that they recieved the returned books. I also included a letter telling them I did not order these books and to cancel any further deliveries. Thus far all I have received is two billing statements. My account number is [protected]. I do not intent to pay for something I did not order to begin with and I have returned both books. Your prompt assistance is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Michael C. Vorpahl
every time we get notifacation of different contests and website to go to it is a crock. as a long time customer i am beginning to realize the only thing that matters to you is taking my money for your gain not coming through with what you claim about all these contests. maybe it is time you got your act together. a disgruntled customer. by the way each year the cost for rd goes up and it gets smaller with less content!
Just another in the line of fools that actually fell for yet ANOTHER Reader Digest scam/contest. we have ben subscribers for over 40 years, We should know by now that there are NEVER any contests and therefore NO winners.!
I received a card with my readers digest magazine to enter a contest for a sony gps.when I went to the address on the card there was no contest there.I will not be renewing my subscription if they are not reliable.
My name is Chelsea. I work for Reader’s Digest in Customer Care and I just came across your post.
I am sorry that you were unable to find the contest. If you are using Google or another search engine, it is possible that you will not find it. When you have a web address (URL), all you need to do is type it into the address bar.
I hope you will try again.

WAS YOUR CHECK ENCASHED?VERIFY IT OK...
I, too, saw on my internet site that I am being billed $39.00 for a gardening book that I, apparently, signed up for while entering a contest. There are no forms to fill out to refuse this before it is billed to me. I want to cancel it NOW. How do I go about canceling this as soon as possible? beigereese1@yahoo.com
I AGREE WITH ALL THE ABOVE! . WE HAVE TAKEN READER'S FOR 63 YEARS WITH SATISFACTION EXCEPT THE LAST THREE YEARS. WE ARE CONSTANTLY GETTING BILLINGS FOR UNORDERED SUBSCRIPTIONS, AND/OR MERCHANDISE(THAT TAKE SEVERAL PHONE CALLS TO CORRECT) SPECIAL OFFERS THAT DON'T COME THROUGH OR ARE UNABLE TO FIND ON COMPUTER SITES SENT (WWW.RD.COM/FREEBOOK EXAMPLE) OUR MAILING ADDRESS SHOWS WE ARE SUBSCRIBED TO MAY 14 AND YET WE GET BILLING NOTICES AND NOTICES OF BILLING FOR GIFT SUBSUBSCRIPTION THAT DO NOT GIVE NAME OF GIFT RECIPIENT!
