I was promised by the owner *** $500 per referral that I provided. I provided 3 referrals, he paid me for 2 but refuses to pay on the remaining referral. If not paid I'll have to go through the hassle of taking McKinley Restoration Co. to small claims court.

I contacted McKinley Restoration to fix damage from a bad winter storm for my HOA. The company guy used pushy tactics with a contract that was unclear. The contract was for removing ice dams and being a public adjuster for our HOA's insurance. I gave them the insurance contact, but the guy didn't say they were working for the HOA. They crossed out parts of the contract, like saying 2 workers would come, but they said 4 workers would come and finish in 1 day. But it took longer and only 3 workers came. After they finished, we paid the invoice. Then they wanted another contract that I didn't agree with because it didn't explain what they would do and what the HOA had to do. I canceled the public adjuster contract because they didn't communicate well and didn't do what they promised with the insurance. They also wanted me to sign another unclear contract. When I canceled, they agreed but changed the invoice for the ice dam removal because they said they made a mistake. They doubled the cost from the first invoice, which I think was because I canceled. I argued with them and got a different price after disagreeing with their bad practices. I think they use pushy tactics and bad contracts to take advantage of people when they're stressed about property damage.

McKinley Restoration's project manager, ***, came to our building to check our roof after a rough blizzard and snow/ice buildup on our decks and roof. They discovered a spot where water was pooling, the gutter was higher than the roof field, vents and pipes needed resealing, patches were required on different parts of the roof, there was deterioration on the roof, a small opening at the roof's edge, and chimney tuckpointing that needed fixing. The company also suggested installing double heating wires around the gutter, downspouts, and four to five feet on top of the roof to prevent ice buildup. They provided us with two quotes: one for $180K to replace the entire roof and another for $26,500 to address immediate repairs that should keep our roof intact (with a 10-year warranty). Our condo board agreed to the latter option. All other work seems to have been done correctly. However, the roofers who came out installed all these heating cables on our entire roof without checking if they actually work. Even though Radek insists that the heating cables won't turn on when it's not cold outside, his electrician, ***, repeatedly confirmed that this isn't true. We have a switch in our basement (which the roofers had access to) that controls the heating cables. They turn on immediately, regardless of the temperature. They turned on at 40 degrees earlier this week. It doesn't have to be below a certain temperature. The heating cables they installed on our roof caused a power outage in our entire basement. If they had just flipped the switch once, they would have realized this. Their workers were here from Sept. *** to Sept. 22. Despite me telling them multiple times that I would unlock our basement door so they could test the switch, and them agreeing, they left and claimed it was working. On New Year's Day 2022, when we tried to turn on the heating cables (after finally getting snow and ice), none of them worked.
