On July 7, I bought a deep fryer from Ideal Food Equipment that they had on their website. The fryer cost $4620.00. I got the fryer on July 21 from the shipping company, but it was really messed up. It was obvious that the stainless steel fryer got dropped. I didn't accept the damaged fryer, so the shipping company took it back. I tried to contact Bill from Ideal Food Equipment, but he didn't call or email me for a few days. When I finally talked to Bill on the phone, he said he had the fryer (I didn't know it was returned to him). The shipping company wouldn't pay for the damage. Bill said I could have the fryer back and try to fix it, but I didn't want to because it was really messed up and I needed a fryer for my busy season. I was upset and frustrated. On September 11, I called and talked to Bill's son. He was rude at first, but we eventually agreed that he could fix the fryer and sell it to other people. He said if I agreed to take $500 off the bill for the labor to fix it, he would send me the remaining money of $3900 plus GST at the end of September. I sent him an email on September 15, confirming this. I didn't get any money, so I sent another email on October 2, asking when I would get the money. He replied "maybe next week". On October 16, I had to email again. He said they were waiting for an electrician to check it because there was more damage than they thought. I said "okay, keep me updated". I had to email again on November 10, because I still hadn't heard from him. That was the last time I talked to him. Finally, in February, I called Bill and told him I was still waiting for my money and that I had been really patient. I said if I didn't get my money, I would take legal action. He got really defensive and said he would hang up on me. I didn't want to do that, but they left me no choice. All I wanted was for them to be honest and keep me informed. He told me they sold it to someone in Manitoba, but they sent it back because they were having problems. We ended the conversation with Bill saying he would have an answer for me in a few days...but I'm still waiting. I hope the ComplaintsBoard.com can help me get my money back. This company has been unethical, rude, and they keep avoiding trying to fix this and give me my money back. I have been more than fair with them. Thank you.
