My HP's dv6000 Laptop had to be serviced continuously for 3 months and is still broken. First service call was placed in late 01/2007. The problem was found on defective wireless card. It was first replaced with a new one, but by replacing just the card did not fix the problem. The laptop was sent in for repair. Wireless card was repaired but soundcard was not working when the laptop got back. Also the battery was missing. The laptop was sent in again for repair. They eventually send a new battery separately. The laptop was eventually serviced but it has a battery and a AC supply that I did not send in, the DVD drive is defective and it also has someone else's hard drive inside my laptop (laptop has my serial number EZ472UA#ABA) with the owner's personal data.

Just to authenticate my case, I was assigned with HP's case manager, Joe Broadbur at [protected] x94 option 1. But I can not get through other than leaving messages. I also tried other HP numbers without any help.

First, I am extremely angry that this laptop keeps on failing. Second, not only they have compromised someone else's personal data, they don't seem to care because no one has called me back even though they know I have someone else's hard drive. This hard drive has a lot of personal files.

Beware people!

Yeah I have had this problem on my dv6140 and have had this problem ever since i got the computer. And nowadays i have to do the hp recovery every week since it fails to load the OS and a System file. So i have sent into Hp and hopefully they can fix or replace or give me my money back.

My teenager has the same laptop. His has been restarting on its own continuously so I spent the 60 dollars to take it to Geek Squad, but they ran all their tests and could not identify the problem. We think it could be the hard drive too, so we may buy one out of pocket because it was a gft and did not come with a service plan. We're not too happy about it and could not get through to HP either. But since we have no plan, we more than likely will not want to keep paying for service which would probably add up to the cost of another laptop.

I have a dv6000 and I believe the hard drive is bad, it intermittently restarts and I think its heat related. I don't want to send it off for TWO WEEKS to get a new hard drive so ill probably just buy another one out of pocket.

My wireless card on my hp dv6000 has also been malfunctioning for some weeks now, and I haven't even owned it for a year! I haven't had the time to send it to be repaired yet, but suddenly today, while I didn't even use it, it started beeping and howling, and no matter what I try it won't stop. :( Any ideas on what to do and what may be wrong? I don't know what to do, and it sounds like it'll explode any second..

I thought I was the only one who has problems with this POS Dv6000! I sent this in on january 2007 and within the week I got it back, the dvd burner doesn't work, the anti virus which is FREE was gone from the desktop-- of which i had to spend another $40 to buy a panda anti virus. sec software.

4 months after getting this crap, I got on the phone with an American (not another India guy) and took the brunt of my frustration, of which I apologized. They are getting it back for service but due to MANY sites like this or EPINIONS.COM where a lot of HP haters post, this is not a common occurrence.

I am writing the BBB and FTC to have my laptop replaced with a newer one. No more servicing. they had their chance and the final straw was when my laptop crashed and my work disappeared as well.

I have an HP DV600 laptop also and am really ticked off at HP. My wireless is not working, but the card works perfectly in another HP laptop, also the internal speakers make a weird high pitch noise when the computer is doing something. HP won't do anything about this.

I think that if you own an HP, sell it and get a Toshiba!
