I am appalled at this company's refusal to address repairs to my home (built in 2007), including the badly spalling concrete on my back patio and the shabby ("upgraded") carpeting that is fraying at every single seam, coming up in a corner of my living room, and pulling away from the tile in all three areas involved (because, according to his representative, he couldn't pursue the carpet installer due to the fact that the company he used has gone out of business (big surprise -- NOT)! I dealt with JOE BOYDEN, not the horrible, cheap and unethical, inept contractors he used to save a buck! I have an estimate for $2, 200 to tear up and replace the back patio before it becomes not only more unsightly, but dangerous, as well. Then there's the central fire alarm system that never worked properly, admitted to by the contractor who installed it for JOE BOYDEN, and a witness, which would require tearing out drywall to access the wiring, as there's no crawlspace...

I believe I've seen some raw deals, poor customer service and bad business in my lifetime, but this takes the cake. I am livid, and will tell anyone who will listen to not do business with this criminal! His motto should be "Beautiful Houses Not Built To Last", or The "It's Your Problem Now" Builders.
However, Mr. Boyden has finally been so kind as to allow his maintenance supervisor to repair a quarter sized hole in the stucco at the side of my front patio where an 8" piece of rubber tubing was left dangling, attached to nothing whatsoever on either side. How very generous to get this remedied after more than 3 years of doubletalk from the rude and worthless warranty department. JOE BOYDEN's profile on his website is a total joke! Everything he claims to stand for is a SHAM! He only cares about the almighty dollar, not the quality of his workmanship, standing behind his promises, or the lives of his homebuyers.
SHAME ON JOE BOYDEN and his staff!

Added 8/2/11: The stucco was applied to the glaring hole in the stucco by my front porch and never finished, in typical Boyden style!

I know of 8 homes on my street (including mine) that have had roof leaks in the first 4 years. Poor tile work throughout the home and this subcontractor also went out of business. Mis-poured back patio-did not pour long enough step from kitchen to outdoors and just patched additional portion that has now huge piece missing out of it. My neighbor had over $30, 000 in liens on home because Boyden had not paid subcontractor before closing. Clean title search-not here--One of the odd New Mexico laws that allow subcontractors to file liens on your home after closing when they have been unpaid. Nice Huh? You cannot refinance or sell your home because of these liens. You and your bank have paid in good faith to Boyden but he does not to his workers! Guess that's the reason for the shoddy workmanship. Outlets jutting out-they sent worker who used a sledge hammer to level them-now cannot screw in outlets covers as holes do not line up properly. Noisy heating/cooling system and also does not reach one of the bedrooms and have to use space heater. I had better system in my 30 year old home I moved from. SHAME SHAME SHAME

Pretty homes, cheap labor, shoddy workmanship, doubletalk and built by the cheapest contractors. I have experience workmanship with poor materials, bad installs, gaps, roof leaks, and hollow tiles. I have had to wait months to have repairs done while under warranty and you will not get any help right away. Joe Boyden will build your home right away and take your money and ride away into the sunset not to be seen anymore. The warranty staff will set appointments and staff will not show up or call to reschedule. They do not care about you anymore; they have sold the house and receive their money. Staff is very unprofessional, rude, and incompetent. I would not refer family members or friends to buy a house from Joe Boyden Homes. All the neighbors in our area agree too.
