Look out! If you sign up for your 'free' Grant Writing Express CD, you are also agreeing to paying $54.96 / month, once your first 'free' month is over. That information is in small type near the end of the pages. I did not see it. When I discovered the charge, I phoned to complain. The best I could get was a 50% refund.

Any time it's 'free' be sure to read ALL the fine print. I didn't, and got whopped.

Grantwritingexpress.com is a total rip off. They don't send CDs, and get away with charging ridiculous rates that they sneak past most people. I thought I had more than 7 days; on the 8th I found out and cancelled, but saw they had just billed it! ###. Total scammers.

It gets better--here's their address for costomer service:

Grant Ventures Today Inc.

Nevis--as in Nevis Islands in the Caribbean--as in tax shelter for scammers.

I'm reporting this info to IRS as well.

I am going through the same thing. I ordered that stupid CD, still haven't received it, and got tagged for the $29.95 BS charge (pending--check hold).

I was spared the $74.95 charge because I read through the "fine print" (terms) AFTER I ordered the CD, and saw the charge referenced in paragraph 9 E, I think it is. So I cancelled immediately, even received about 5 emails confirming it, because I cancelled so many times.

Actually, the $74.95 was even inconsistent; in the first set of terms it read $54.95; then in a subsequent version, it was increased.

But I still haven't found any authorization for the $29.95 charge, and am planning to contest it through my bank, and filing a complaint with the BBB.

b/t/w: I called that number you put in your article--many times trying to cancel, but couldn't get through, so I cancelled through email feature. Now that number leads to "information, powerd by Tell-me".

Scummy f*n scammers.

Good luck to you.

I thought it was only 4 bucks so if I didnt get it no big deal, But I will not shop on line again.. I will just keep my local stores busy...Watch them this is a SCAM@!

If you will do a little MORE reasearch in Govt. Grants you will find and learn that the Govt. DOES NOT give grants to individuals PERIOD. You must be a company or a institution and fill out a ton of paperwork first to see if you qualify, and next more paperwork to see if a grant is available for what you are applying for. Student grants yes, but if you go to grants.gov you will see right away they do not give grants to individuals. The scammers know you will not know this and yes they take your money for NOTHING.

Forgot this in my first post:
I did my research and chose this particular company because of an article recommending it on MSN. The site is called GrantMeCash.com
Thank you, Deborah Walters, PhD - CEO of GrantMeCash.net, for wasting my time any money. I hope you are proud of yourself.

I got a charge of $29.95 on my credit card from a MYFITNESS [protected] Sandy.

I've not dealt with clickincome.com (websites, "education, " & e-commerce) who seems to collect for grantwriting express. (part of them?)

emails say grantwritingexpress is from cheyanne, WY, contact link on website points to:

GrantHelpOrder.com
Grant Ventures Today Inc.
642 Main Street
Charlestown, Nevis

governmentgrantmentor.com (or even governmentgrantsmentor.com) appears to be non-existant as such or at least their server can't be found, (even if I stick "my" in front of them, ) is supposedly what is the "subscription" fees are for.

had to dig for this one:

Clickincome, Inc. / WNSI
9543 South 700 East
Sandy, Utah, 84070

I am a ### and did not read the fine print, and have canceled my credit card to avoid further charges by these shady individuals. The best part is that I paid for the CD on Feb 16th, and received the following email form the on Feb 23rd:

“If you've received your CD please disregard this message.
Due to a problem with our software replication facility, there has been a delay with some of the cd shipments. All cd's will be shipped, but in the meantime we've created a download page so you can get started while waiting for the cd. This is the same software contained on the cd so there will be no limitations.”

The link they provided doesn’t work…GO FIGURE.
To this date I have still not received the CD and they $74.95 hit my card on March 1st well BEFORE the 30 day trial period ended.

I purchased the CD on 2/19/09 and never received the CD. On 3/1/09, I received an email that the CD is running late. A download site was then provided to download the info that is on the CD. How can I do a 7 day trial without the complete help of the CD. The 7 day trial is over and on 3/1/09, I was charged $74.95 (monthly fee). I have tried for 2 days to contact them by phone, and line is continuously busy. I cancelled subscription and I am disputing the charges with my bank. They will investigate. This company has no right to bill my monthly charges without providing me with the CD in a timely manner. As of today's mail (3/2/09, still no CD and frankly, I am not going to download the info. It is there responsibility to provide the right tools on time before they have the nerve to charge me. Based on the other complaints I have read, this site is a scam. Unfortunately, when I searched Yahoo, they rated them very high. Its a shame that Yahoo is not doing their homework!

It's quite simple. I read all the fine print and wanted to try the product. I ordered the cd for 3.95, but never received it, so I called to cancel on the fifth day after my order. CD is said to come in 3-5 days. However, I could not call in. I went to the site and submitted my email for cancellation, but again, the website never pulled through. I did this three times every day until they charged me for the final 74.95. After they charged me, then I was able to cancel. I say that's a scam and fraud. I read the terms and conditions and understood on my part, but it's their end that didn't hold up. For those who make the comment about evaluating the product, most of us can't adequately review a product we never received. It's quite simple; this is FRAUD!

I too was also scammed, i purchased a cd for 3.95, ( have yet to receive the cd), and was charged 74.95. question did the bank refund the money after getting a new card issued ? i guess that is what i will have to do. also i read the small print. it looks like after 14 days they will also charge you 29.95 /month, along with the 74.94/month, has this happened to anyone? when you call now they claim they are sooo busy that they cannot answer the phone, but leave your name & number and they will return your call. i have not received that call as of yet..

This company is full of it... however, all you have to do is go to www.grantwritingexpress.com and at the bottom of their main page you will see an unsubscribe link. Click on that and all you have to do is enter your email. Hope that helps.

Don't order it. I called and the only thing I got was an answering machine, telling me to go to a website granthelporder.com to cancel. I called to report I never recieved the cd, therefore I wanted to cancel. No one ever returned my call. However by the time I was able to access this site to cancel I had already been charged 3.95 for the cd which I never recieved, .Then today on the 25th I was chargeed 74.95 on my account. I am fuming and I am demanding my money back. If I have not heard from them by 9:00 AM on the 26th I am reporting them to the better business bureau and every place known to fraud. I will also hire a firm of lawyers to shut this scam down no mater what the cost.

reading these comments has certainly been helpful. i'm not feeling like the only one who believed in this sites integrity based on their representation; esp the part about not falling for the "other sites" that were scams. i was not expecting to get something for free. the site i visited quoted a charge of $1.99 to ship the "free" cd; but when i ordered it was charged $3.99. that red flag was enough to prompt me to google search this company and while i couldn't find anything "incriminating" on them at the time i decided to call my bank and have them block the acct & reissue another card w/ a different #. the bank informed me that this has been happening alot and that people need to be aware that these companies change their names frequently so as to avoid being tracked. since i ordered the cd, the company sent me a series of emails...1st to inform me of the order...2nd to inform me of the shipment...3rd to say they are having "difficulties" at their shipping facility. they did offer me a link to download the information so i tried and will you be surprised when i tell you that nothing happened? what a shame that there are people out there preying on fellow human beings esp in these times of economic hardship. i take comfort that these people will be paying some hard karmic debt...

This is a SCAM! Right away, when signing up for the FREE CD this company sends a nice e-mail deducting the $3.95 from your acct. I dont know about you, but I couldn't get any response to the link in the e-mail for the 7 days of previewing the CD info while I waited for the CD. Also no response to the 24 hours of help if there was a problem. Even when trying to call GRANTWRITING EXPRESS the voice mail said they werenot OPEN on FRIDAYS, then numerous times of calling, the phone just rings. Now there is a nice voicemail that gives you info for support but its a link to buy more of their SCAM! Now NO CD, NO RESPONSE EXCEPT a hit of $74.95 to my bank account AFTER I CANCELLED WITHIN THE 7DAYS. PEOPLE BEWARE! You willnot GET A NICE E-MAIL for your $74.95 from your account for services RENDERED! THANK YOU!

Get online and send them a fax to [protected] - make it a 50 page fax or so in a 72 point font, like I did. The fax should clearly state your dispute. Let's keep that fax line tied up. I will send a 50 page fax once a week until they respond or acknowledge the complaint, even at the cost of $2.50 - They need shut down!

I was scammed by these crooks for 74.95. I was on vacation when I ordered the CD on 2/13/09. When I returned home on 2/23/09, the CD had not arrived, but I had an e-mail with an attachment that contained a nine page contract stating that I had seven days to cancel. I tried calling but no answer. I checked my credit card and they had already charged the shipping charges plus 74.95. I called my card company and disputed the charges and had a new card issued. I am waiting on the results of the dispute.

I never even received the cd. What is worse there was a whole article saying how there are many scams out there and that this was the best sight to use.
Free means free this is totally false advertising. People who use "small print" and then blame the consumer have no integrity! I can not believe the greed and disregaurd for hard working fellow americans!

I too have been SCAMMED by these people as I did not see the terms that said they would continue to bill me after the original $3.99 cd purchase. I do not expect anything for free that is why I paid $3.99 for a cd that has not been shipped as of this date. Yet just over a week from the purchase I got a $74.95 additional charge on my account. I hope the whole damn country goes bankrupt at least if everyone was broke the thieves would have no one to prey on. I still dont understand how these people can take money from you without a signed contract spelling out what they will do? Seems if it is hidden within a text file called terms that would not be a binding contract as its was crafted to be misleading to begin with. I noticed that some opinions suggested people are trying to get something for free. I am not one of them I was trying to purchase information for the cost of $3.99 and got scammed. If these people wanted more for the product they did not deliver they should have said so up front and allowed me to make the decision to purchase or not. This is just simple thievery with a candy coating. Maybe I am dumb but at least I am honest!

I ordered a " Free CD" paying 3.49 for shipping on Friday Feb. 13, 2009. I did not receieve the CD and was charged 74.95 against my PayPal card without receiving any notification on Friday Feb. 20 2009. One week, NOT 30 DAYS.

This caused me to cancel my PayPal cards and fill a dispute.

As stated in earlier comments there is a comment about the 74.00 charge AFTER a 30 day trial but the TERMS agreement is purposefully written poorly and difficult to find. I did not read this in advance expecting to HAVE 30 DAYS to review it.

I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU AVAID THIS AND SIMILAR COMPANYS. They all seem to have a web site confirming they are the best. I am also disapointed in Comcast for allowing this type of advertising.

"Ultimate Grant Secret Genie" took my money right out of my checking account and won't return it as I had never even looked at it until after a week and didn't know about the $74.95 fee. If I wanted to cancel, I had to call or email them all of the information that they should already have on hand after you give them a customer number within 7 days, this was in small print on their site. And seeing that no other site I visited had this type of deal I really didn't read all of the agreement, that will teach me. Well I never did any writing for a grant at any time as it didn't tell me where to write to and as if it mattered how you wrote it, it would be there in black and white and I'm sure they would get the idea if you weren't well versed. All the other sites I visited and bought CDs from never mentioned a fee for a service after a week, you'd just pay for the CD and that was that. Do not visit this site and pay for anything as I already looked on another site, and it was ruled as a scam also.

"To cancel the 7 Day FREE trial the user will need to contact us before midnight of the 7th day. Cancellation requests must include the following information to be canceled: First name, last name, shipping address, city, state, zip code, phone number, email address, date of purchase, type of payment used, last 4 digits of the credit card number used." - Quoted from their agreement. Can you tell me where granthelporder.com allows you to enter all that information?

Please note that on your initial email there is a contact link toward the bottom of the page. This takes you to www.granthelporder.com. You can cancel your membership by using your email address rather than trying to call and cancel. A email is immediately sent back confirming cancellation of your order. I very glad I read the "7 day trial information".

Scratch that last comment. I called my bank and changed my card number and got a new card issued. The guy that works for the bank told me that that will stop any withdrawals from them. Luckily I did it before any major transfers were taken out, just the money for shipping on the cd that i haven't received... So if any one else has a problem with this, you may wanna give that a try.

Well put, Dunamis. Everybody's comments are just about getting their money back - not the functionality of the product. Did they even open it? Even Jimmbo here writes that the software is a waste to time - but doesn't really say why he thinks that or how he tried to use it (and failed). Can somebody actually write what they liked or didn't like about the software?!? It seems obvious that most of the people complaining here wanted pie-in-the-sky and then want to moan about it when money doesn't magically determine that it's supposed to land in their lap. PS. I'm guessing that Jimmbo has a vested interest in Grants for Dummies, hence the comment. Nobody's honest...
