Apon doing alot of reserch I noticed that this breeder has had several complaints, but once they are posted the breeder threatens the people who he owes money to into removing the threats so that his bad buisness practices can continue..

I personally love English Mastiffs and I feel taking deposits prior to the conception or delivery is wrong exspecially when people in good faith par far more. Because they are promissed a puppy and if that litter only turns out to be 3 what happens to the 7 people that paid 3600.. For that litter.
I read on family waited over a yr for a total refund and never recieved it acording to BBB.
Another man was promissed a healthy puppy and made a complaint..
Please if you want a english mastiff. Not send a deposit to anyone that clearly states on his wesite that he will not refund your money even if he chooses your not a suitable owner...that is wrong and unethical.
He accepts more deposits than he has pups then people have to wait forever..
I breed My imported Mastiffs and I dont take deposits till after they are whelped. I check refrences first before I accept money and contracts are signed... This is what a ethical breeder does.. Goliath Mastiffs are Financially motivated so buyer beware...

I bought a dog from Goliath Mastiffs in 2007. I just lost him this past December. He was the best damn dog I ever had. He had lots of health issues and had surgery for benign tumors in his throat at 3, it seemed to be problem after problem after that. John told me my dog Boomers mom always had tumors in her throat, why breed is beyond me. Then as a 4 year old I found out Boomers sire wasnt really the real sire, I had his DNA done. John told me I should be happy as the dog he thought was the sire had several health issues. Again, why breed sick dogs. But bottom line, I would give anything to have my Boomer back, , , , , he was my family, my life and my heart aches daily for my big sick baby.

To who it may concern:
I bought a beautiful little English Mastiff from Goliath Mastiff and the puppy was taken to the vet within 5 days of be here. We end up taking her to a specialist who found her to have a genetic kidney problem. We noticed John Main the breeder of the condition and it has been over 2 years since and he as threatened to not provide us with a new puppy if we didn't cancel our BBB record of his bad business practices. We have him recorded on tape from every call and saved every email of our request for a new puppy and even request he just refund the money to us so we could find another breeder since his dogs according to him were not producing more than two or three puppies a litter and that was his reasoning why he had not provided us a puppy yet. Needless to say, he refused to refund the funds to us. We spent, with Medical bills, for the puppy that he first sent us over 7, 000.00 dollars. Please take my advice and don't buy from him. I am hoping he gets his act together and someday we receive a new puppy that is healthy. If he did I would let you know. I really needed this dogs since I have sight problems and Miss Hattie was the perfect tempermant for helping me but we lost her 1 year and 5 days after her birth. The Doctor said she lived a long time because we took care of her. We did find two wonderful breeders that we received some great dogs from so they are out there. I am still looking for a dog to help me with my sight issues they are special dogs and our two current dogs don't have the tempermant for it. One is stubborn and the other is a little to protective of me. I hope this help you to find the right breeder. Blessing to all.

I bought a puppy from goliath mastiffs in Jan of 2006. He is an awesome dog but he has had his share of health issues. AND, after two years of owning him I found out his sire, really isn't his sire, which was the main reason I bought him. I love this dog and wouldn't trade him for the money to be returned, he is family to me. But they did disappear off the internet after this problem of whos your daddy came about. If you breed dogs for a living, oh wait, he claims it is a hobby, but seriously, , , , , , , , , don't you have to know what ### you breed to which stud dog. he also told me I should be happy the dog I thought was the sire weasnt because he had so many health issues, so why breed a dog with so many health issues. I don't get it, , , , , , , , , , , , , but I do love Goliaths Boomer brown so very much, his days are numbered but he is a beautiful loving well mannered dog.

You might want to do some research on these people. There was an article in the local paper where they abandoned their dogs after a search warrant for drugs

I also bought a dog from then who was sick. He was sick when he arrived and sick the whole time i had him which was sadly only 3 years i miss him every day and i hate that Goliath Mastiffs are still selling puppies to people and breaking there hearts. I bought my dog commited for 10 years of my life at least and he was sick and scared and you suck John!

I bought a puppy from Goliath mastiffs four years ago. He was sickly and scared. I did my best for him for theee years then one night the poor dog died in his sleep. I tried to return the puppy but they did not want him back he was aggressive and scared his whole life I took him to Dr and trainers for help but in the end nothing could be done and I was told to put him down I did not but he was sickly and did not survive. Do not buy from them your heart will be broken and your dog will not be healthy.

Still waiting on my mastiff puppy for almost 3 years now, thankfully I'm rich. Enjoy the 1K dollar gift. I bought 2 from a novel breeder in Kentucky whos primary business is breeding draft horses. I wouldn't do business with Goliath mastiffs unless you have money to piss away like me.

It is nice to know that he has help a few people with Mastiff's. However, I have to agree with Mastiff Lover. He is not living up to his business contracts. We have been wanting for over 2 years going on 3 years for a replacement puppy that had a genetic issue. I think most breeders would agree that this is way to long to wait for a puppy that you have paid in full for. Plus, he has threaten to not send us a new puppy because we posted a complaint with the BBB. I am still hoping he gets his act together and honors his health guarntee with a healthy new puppy or a refund, however I am not hopeful since his website has been taken down. If you are a breeder that sold him a puppy you may want to check to make sure he has not gone out of business and taken them to the pound.

I don't like to get involved with complaints, since more often than not everyone who feels they have been wronged spends endless days and nights pissing and moaning about it on some complaint forum, and those who have good experiences, well they just cherish them and tend to not go out of there way to brag about them. This may not make sense, but it is human nature. On the same note there are always to sides to a story, it is too bad that people read into these complaints without taking this into account. As far as John and Brenna are concerned, we purchased our second mastiff from them and like the first we purchased from a breeder in the lower 48, it felt much more like a job interview than a purchase. As it should, a pet is a responsibility and owning one should not be taken lightly. I spoke with john on multiple occasions about purchasing a puppy over the few months, and ironically though i knew roughly what he was going to cost, i never brought up the price once and neither did they. Come on, anyone who is looking a purchasing a mastiff knows that they might be expensive and if you are afraid of a deposit or the harsh demands on the website, then as i always say about the contracts i write up, "If your afraid to sign it then you are probably not the type of person that i want to do business with.

So to sum it up, I would buy another puppy from them in a heartbeat. You should have to apply for owning a pet just like we should probably interview people before they are allowed to have kids...

I really like and Believe John and Brenna are good and reputable Breeders and there motives are honorable toward what is best for the individual puppy, dog, ### and the Mastiff Breed. In no way in all the conversations I have had with John over the years have I ever been treated rudely or without respect for my sudden onset Sjogren's Syndrome, Lupus and RA. In my book there are no better people than John and Brenna! Deb O.

We are Goliath Mastiffs. I have seen these type of complaint boards where someone wants to go after someone else. I dont like getting involved in these crap slinging forums because they dont go anywhere and the truth is often not an issue its some hostile feelings of the person who started the thread trying to slander a breeder.

In reference to us taking money...we do take a $500 deposit on puppies prior to them actually leaving. Buyers must know, and they do know from looking at our website, that this deposit is not refundable... it is their first payment toward their puppy. We breed for ourselves in producing what will hopefully be the next great champions in the mastiff world. We spend often in excess if $5, 000 in doing a breeding, and by the time they are ready to go we have poured often as much as $10k into the litter. If someone up and changes their mind after we have done this breeding or near the time the pups are ready to go it causes us financial hardship...and a bunch of extra time on the phone and emails trying to find a good quality replacement home for the puppy. Its always the puppy and the breeder who end up hurting the most in these situations. So if someone is serious about being a new owner of one of our pups...their commitment starts with a deposit.

In reference to the lady who you said waiting a year for a refund...the truth is that less than a year ago she reserved a puppy. She asked me if she could make payments in advance to her pup that it would otherwise be difficult to later raise all the money for the puppy at once. After about a few months the breeding was not pregnant... she agreed to wait until another litter. Some moths ago when her pupyy was soon to be ready for her she decided to change her mind. She was refunded all the money she paid minus her deposit.

The other man you are spaking of is yourself. The puppy got a rash called celluitus (probably mispelled). You waited a couple extra weeks for your puppy but i wasnt going to fly the puppy until the rash was totally gone. When you changed your mind and demanded your refund i mailed your refund out to you the same day. Now get over it.
