Glenn Associates, Inc. - New Hampshire Higher Education student loan collection agent - rude treatment on phone.
These guys need some physical human contact besides on the phone all day. I think they call their loved ones and plan things ahead via a telephone call because they have no personal skills. So they don't want to see or talk to them in person. I mean they think there god and that everyone needs to listen to them.
Now I'm not an angel either yes I have some debt and yes there office is handling it. But that doesn't mean they have the right to talk to you the way they want to. I don't even think they have a standard protocol for phone calls. Or I'm sorry it goes something like this, "Hello Mr. Bolat", my reply "yes", "when are you gonna (not going to) pay us this money". That's pretty much the start of the conversation. Which escalades into the person on the phone, whomever it may be (because they go back and forth with different people in the office. At any given time I could have a the same conversation with 3 different people), yelling at me as if I were their 12 year old child. They never let you speak and when you do get a word in they tell you not to talk because they're not finished. My last and by far the best conversation I had with them (notice I don't give out names cause they are all the same breed) was today (Tuesday August 28, 2007). To make a long story short I want to go back to school to finish up my BS. But because of my balance that I have with Hesser College which has landed at Glenn Associates' desk. I have to clear the balance before signing up. The person on the phone told me that he wanted the balance in full today which is impossible for me. So I asked the best way I can if they could put me on a payment schedule. Which he replied by saying he is going to make sure that he calls Hesser College and tells them that I am a BIG risk factor and that I will never attend school ever again. Hello, that's why I called them so I can settle my balance, so I can go back to school.
Anyway to make a long story short again they need to get their act together and realize that they don't own people. One day their disrespectful actions is going to come around and bite them in the behind.
Thank you for your time, Ahmet Bolat
they sucked nasty people trying to pay a bill i was told they have no time for me. ### hole they all where
Just to agree with Ahmet. I have been dealing with Glenn Associates for approx 9 years. I had an unfortunate financial problem and was not allowed to enroll for classes for a spring semester at UMASS Lowell. Short story is I ended up owing $10k and could not pay a dime. Glenn Associates ended up with my account and I went on a payment plan for what I could afford. I will never forget this guy’s name "Mark Rodgers" who would call almost everyday and leave a message on my answering machine. For YEARS I had these guys calling me at home and at work often harassing anyone that answered the phone including my old boss and girlfriend at the time. I was working two jobs and they were still calling to get more money. They were VERY rude and heartless people encouraging me to call a family member to pay my debt and even helping me apply for loans to pay them a "reduced" balance. All attempts failed to loan money at the time and the calls from GA continued. I had no choice but to follow the harassment protection procedures that I found online. I let them know that I was making regular payments and was tracking any interaction between them and me for a potential legal follow-up if the harassment continued.
Anyway, I was looking for the number to GA to pay off my balance today and came across this blog. I just wanted to give my 2 cents. It sounds like not much has changed over there. My phone call went well...I'm sure it was because I wanted to clear my balance!
Good luck to those that have to deal with these people. I guess when your job consists of calling and collecting money from potentially sleazy people you may end up not being the nicest person. But that type of attitude shouldn’t be given to those who are hard working people that are sincere about paying of a debt.
D.G.
I also had a horrible experience with Glenn Associates. I'm embarassed to say this now, but the guy actually made me cry once. They are really the most heartless people I have ever come in contact with. They are pathetic and I can't understand why they are so forceful on the phone when it's not even their money! Whatever is the opposite of sensitivity training- that's the seminar those collectors must have to attend.
Anyways, just write a letter to them telling them to stop calling you and they can't call you anymore! I never heard from them again once they got my letter.
I agree that this company wants ### out of you. I wonder how this so called higher education universities have contacted with devil like Glenn ###. I wanted to settle with UML but these UML suckers sent to devil anyway.
Now, I paid off everything and UML sends me an invitation to join their this and that freaking activites and irony is that they are now asking for the donations from me. What a B.S. school management. Every time I see donation letter, I say KISS Glenn ###.
I had a TERRIBLE experience dealing with Glenn.
"Mr. Hall" called me a few days after I recieved a letter saying they were handling my loan from school. I had already begun making my payments and asked why my balance did not reflect this. He yelled at me and asked me why I didnt' call him as soon as I got the letter. He was completely unprofessional, and he hung up on me! I called back three times and HE HUNG UP on me THREE times! I was appalled. I finally called Mass Board of Higher Education to handle this, and they contacted Glenn to correct my balance information. It was absolutley ridiculous. How am I supposed to get anything resolved when they hang up on me and refuse to listen to a word I have to say?!?!?
I have never been spoken to in such a rude manner. Bill Tyler at extension 210 needs to learn how to speak to the public. This guy is explosive and needs to keep his personal comments to himself. He hung up on me several times and just kept on screamins over me. This guy must get some kind of power rush or maybe he finds pleasure in his behavior. I don't have time to go into any more details, but I can say that he needs to learn something called customer service.
I just recieved a phone call from these people. I'm unsure who exactly I spoke to, but they were incredibly nasty. I told him that I fully understand that the loan is outstanding, and that I need to get on top of it, and admitted that it was my fault. He asked when I would take care of it, and I asked him to give me their contact information so I could go home and figure it out. I also told him that right now I wouldn't be able to do much, because my current income is near poverty level. His response was: "Fine, I'll tell them you said you refuse to pay." I told him that's not what I said, and that I had in fact said I planned on paying, and would like to get on top of it asap. He responded: "REFUSE TO PAY" and hung up on me.
I called them back, and unfortunately got the same person. I told him his attitude needs adjustment, and he said: "Yeah, go cry to Obama. No one cares. REFUSE TO PAY. Go back to your poor job and get your money, and screw everyone over." He then hung up again.
I plan on contacting these people either through the State, or through their HR department and showing them this site, along with others that I've found. When I did a google search on "Glenn Associates Collections" I'm not surprised that the majority of sites that came up were bad reviews.
Phil Hall has called me a few times. My loan with MA Board of Higher Ed has been in default for approx 8 yrs now. Just after 2000, I had many different student loans and couldn't keep track. I applied to Sallie Mae to consolidate all of them. I thought they had, but this loan was a no-interest loan and they could not take it on. I'm sure they told me that, but I never realized. In the process I moved at least 7 or 8 times and lost track and that everything was ok. When I began the process of buying a house 2 yrs ago, I pulled my credit for the first time in many years and saw that my loan listed in default. I contacted MA Board and tried to explain what happened and get on a payment plan again, but they told me to talk to Delta Mgmt because they were collecting. They were a-holes to say the least. They wanted every cent immediately or nothing. My realtor actually called them to try to work something out in paying them by increasing the bank loan for the mortgage, but all of these companies are so bad at what they do, that they wouldn't talk to him. Then several months ago, I got a letter from Glenn Associates and Phil Hall. Seems THEY were now attempting to collect this. So Phil Hall got me on the phone one day and said "What are you gonna do about this?" I said, "I can't pay it all NOW." The total outstanding is ballpark $6000. He says "you have to pay something or get on a payment plan." I said "Wow, I can do that? I was trying to but the last company wouldn't let me." He asked what I could afford. I have a mortgage, wife, 2 young children, so I told him $100 a month. Ok. He called the next month and mailed me a packet of envelopes to mail monthly payments or it had the website to make payments there. This was back in June or July. I pay everything online. To make things easier, I went on their archaic website and entered my checking acct number and routing info and set up to pay $100 every month at the same time. I recently realized that none of those payments were coming out but after reading complaints about these ###s online, I wasn't going to call them and tell them that. So yesterday Phil calls me around noon and leaves me a vmail saying I must "call him back today". I'm in construction and can't stop and call the guy on a job site to call our friend Phil. So, ten minutes into my drive home, I get a call. I answer and he says "It's Phil Hall. Did you get my message?" I say I did. He tells me my bank would not process the last few payments and tells me to call them to find out why and call him back. He's about to hang up and I say "Hold on. That doesn't make sense. Read my the routing and checking info." Turns out 1 digit in the checking account was wrong. So he says the famous "What are you gonna do about it?" I say I can give him $100 now and start up the $100 going forward monthly. He says "what about the other payments?" I said "I'm not making those up now." He says "Well call me back and tell me what you plan to do about those payments." I say "I'm telling you NOW. I'm not making up any of those. I'll pay one payment of $100 today and one $100 a month payment going forward." He says "that's no good. Don't even bother. I'll just tell them you refuse to pay." I said "Thank you very much" and hung up. Screw that idiot.
Hey g77, I don't understand. If they never took the money out of your account, then the money should still be there. Why don't you just pay the money you would have paid anyway's? Seems like they bent over backward to help you where the other agency would not.
I agree 100%. Today was my first time calling and they were absolutley rude and even tried to pull family members into this situation that I don't even live with. Its so disrespectful to have someon spread your private matters to people who don't live with you. My mom almost has the same name as me and they called her as if she was responsible for the debt.
I asked to speak to someone else and they said no.. im like what? Your extremely rude and rather not to speak to you.
what goeas around comes around. He'll get his for sure...
Glen Associates is a very rude company.
I finally spoke to someone after getting automated voices and elevator music every time I picked up.
This is definitely a debt collector. I have a bill that was apparently sent to them from an account that *I* closed myself and that had a zero balance when I closed it. I have not received anything in the mail as of yet from this company and when I finally spoke to someone it is because they had the complete wrong number on it.
They are rude and take everything you say and "update your account" with only half of what you say. I will be reporting this company every where that I can. Had I received anything in the mail from them I would have been able to respond to not only them but sent proof that I dont owe on this account... But instead they started off the phone call with how can we set up payment. I said I would need proof in the mail that this is who they are because I dont want to set up a payment with a company that has had no other contact with me. I requested he mail me a letter that he is legally allowed to mail, and the man said "Ok so I will update your account with you refuse to pay". I said I didnt say that I want a letter showing who you are and exactly what account I apparently owe on. Come to find out maybe he shouldnt have had such an attitude because they didnt even have the right number.
Little do they know I had it recording once I found out who it was, and they did handle my phone call illegally.
Guess what Glen Associates ... big words dont scare me because I know what they mean and I know what you can legally do. Why don't you stop talking to everyone like they are low life [censor] and actually handle people with respect until they give you a reason not to.
OH and before you start saying that I should have already heard from them, why dont you make sure you have the correct information on someone. OK? THANKS! Learn to be civil and maybe you'd actually get more money and have a better day at work.
Very simple. You want no more calls and letters send a Cease & Desist letter. Collection agency's can't sue you. They need to refer it to a Law Firm to do that. They have no leverage. All they have is the phone and thats one of the reasons why they are so rude and aggressive. If they continue to call or write you contact the Banking Commision and file a 93A with them and you can receive damages. Trust me, this will get the collection agency off of your back. By the way send your Cease & Desist by certified mail. That way they will have no excuses.
This use to be a good company until the ### kid Glen Misiph took over. Just to let the debtors know that voice messages can no longer be left on peoples voice mails from collection agencys. Wear them down, they will go away. However if you want to avoid legal actions make token payments on your accounts. The agency wants to keep the accounts other wise they don't get a fee, other than a small percentage from the Law Firm they refer the accounts to
Obviously the person that wrote the above message is not the real Mark Kres. There are too many inaccuracies in the statement that was made.
