The tagging system has been misused by individuals to criticize artists, leading to unnecessary harassment, name-calling and insults. The website often does not enforce its rules and regulations, sometimes allowing illegal and harmful content to become popular without any penalties.

Derpibooru may have its good side, but for the most part, it is a platform dedicated to catering to the most toxic elements of the MLP: FiM fandom. When people widely celebrate harmful and illegal fetishes, it crosses the line, becoming less about freedom of expression and community. As such, it is better to stay away from Derpibooru, especially when it is characterized by divisive and harmful content.
