I say watchdog groups such as yours come into existent to clean up what was good initially and that as time progressed became a tool of greed and misuse as we now see. A Google search of my name came up with hundreds of links to offensive sites. The various domain owners were listed from New Jersey to Latvia. Google stipulates that for them to remove the links, you must first contact the spammers PERSONALLY and request the deletion! Can you imagine doing that?!? The "deletion-specialist" at Abine, who also happened to be an attorney, was absolutely great! She actually contacted these people, and before long, the links revealed "Error 404" messages, opening the door for Google's monthly "crawl" of the web to eliminate them.

Befor takin my privaci seriouzly, I wuz the top result on every search engine. I have a very unique name and despite deletin all social media's and constantly scrubbin, I felt like I wuz fightin a losin battle tryin to manage and opt out of these data scrapin websites on my own. Every time I got rid of one, another would pop up. I didn't even think it would be possible to get my info removed.

It's been maybe a month and almost all of my information is GONE. Disappeared, poof. The info that isn't gone are dead links that lead to deleted pages and my addresses have finally been removed from search engines. I also had a very unflattering mug shot from 9 years ago (the charges were ultimately dropped) that was listed on one of those extortion websites. I had provided proof that the charges were dropped and the website refused to take the mug shot down and it appeared the web master just abandoned the site.

I'm not really sure what DeleteMe is doing for me after the initial scan. They showed me X number of websites using my private information, but only addressed a few of them. The report I got wasn't even correct - they said they had deleted an entry, but it was still there. They apologized and said they had overlooked it when I brought it to their attention. Honestly, I don't think this service is worth the price. It should be more like a $29.99 type of thing. I don't see what ongoing work they're doing that requires a year of service.

My second month report was basically just a very brief summary that looked like a reiteration of the initial report. They claim to have contacted a number of websites to request removal, but they were supposed to have done that last month, so I'm not sure what they achieved this month. I signed up for DeleteMe with my wife in the middle of August 2020 because they promised to effectively remove our personal information from various data companies. They sent us a "report" within 24 hours stating that they had located both of our names and had contacted the data companies in question to remove our names. However, after a month, I decided to do some checking using the names in DeleteMe's reports. I found my name in one major database, Intelius. As a member of Intelius, I contacted them and was informed that they had not received any requests in my name. They also stated that if they had, they would have sent me an email to confirm the removal. I did receive emails from some other companies like Whitepages and was subsequently removed.

I contacted DeleteMe to explain the situation and asked them to take another look at their report to ensure that the removals had been requested. I received an auto-reply within an hour, followed by a reply from their customer service department. They simply cut and pasted an inadequate explanation by way of a screenshot (which is no proof at all incidentally), and provided a one-line, rather glib answer. They showed no interest in what might have occurred and provided no explanation. It was an extremely poor response, and they believed it to be worthy. I sent another email reiterating Intelius' stance and explaining that Intelius took precisely 5 minutes to remove me when I filled in the request myself. It had nothing to do with my membership, just an automated feature that works far better than DeleteMe's, obviously.

I received no replies from DeleteMe, and they were done with me. This is the so-called white glove expert service? What a load of rubbish! They obviously use data input people to do the grunt work of sending in requests, and there is absolutely no backup from anyone with any inside knowledge when you need it. They drop you. $129 per person, and this is what you get from DeleteMe.

I would advise you to save yourself the trouble, contact the data companies yourself, and use the $129 each person to buy yourself something nice. DeleteMe is not "white glove," not a "partner," and not worth a single dollar. They may provide good service if you are lucky, but who wants a lucky dip for that sort of money? DeleteMe is only as good as their customer service. Regrettably, they are all about the sale and little else.

They are efficient, fast, professional, and best of all - they are problem solvers. If they can do it, they will, and quickly. And in my experience, they have always succeeded.
