These jerks just took $44.95 out of my debit card without my permission. I suspect this could be Norton anti virus. A year ago I purchase their software on line and since they have my card info, they took the liberty of billing me again. I could be wrong about this, I just don't know.

I recently purchased Norton anti-virus and I noticed that I was charged an extra $69.99. There was no phone number to follow up to what this charge is for. Please help me find a way to stop these charges.

It may be that you inadvertently purchased an Auto-Renew product from Symantec. You should call Customer Service to find out. If your Norton product is, indeed, one of their Auto-Renewing pieces of software, or a demo-product that automatically deducts from your account when the test period runs out, that could explain the charges.

Norton, Microsoft, and other companies sell software of this type.

Digital River probably has Customer Service people who can help you ferret this out.

Digital River paid for software download but didnt get it

I purchased student software from Microsoft through Digital River for $59 plus 6.95 for electronic downloading. There was an error downloading it. This problem started 10/3/08 and now it is 10/9/08 and I still haven't gotten my download or any help from Digital River. I have sent them emails once or twice daily and each reply is from a different person but the answer is always the same. It is a standard answer that makes so sense. I am being told to click on a link and when I do, I am asked for a password (which I never got).

Then you are told to click on an alternate link if you forgot your password so I click on this hoping they will send me another password. But now I am being asked for my university email address (which I don't have and I never had one).

Btw it's not needed, since I was given the download link without before. I have scanned all my receipts and registration from school to show that I qualified for this software and now I don't have it and no one cares.

There is no phone number for Digital River. No one ever addresses my questions, I don't think they read my emails, they just send the same reply over and over again.

I am now going to post a complaint on every board I can about this company. M3cents.com is next.

People - beware of Digital River. My next step is to write a complaint to my credit card company and if I have to write another one to Consumer Affairs then I will do that to. I have no idea if Microsoft is aware of how this company
Treats their customers. But I will try contacting them too.

Yes, I think Microsoft is definately aware of how Digital River treats their customers. The Microsoft representative that I spoke to said he gets "alot of calls" regarding Digital River's lack of customer service. He gave me their phone number: [protected]. I'm posting everywhere I can (because it's not online) and the only way you can contact them is via email (which they do NOT respond to). I also suggest that you file a complaint with the BBB. The form is an online form found at their website, and takes only a few minutes. https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/getstarted.aspx PLEASE FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THEM. These people are crooks, and won't stop unless they are forced to by someone other than their customers.

***********DO NOT ORDER NORTON ANTIVIRUS ON LINE - THEY DOUBLE CHARGE THEN REFUSE TO REFUND YOUR MONEY**********

On September 17, 2010 I bought a new computer, then went on line and purchased Norton for a total of $52.99. The next day I had another charge from DRICA.COMSOFTWARE for $44.99. I immediately called Norton and advised them what happened. Of course they denied the charge and claim that it was once a sister company but Norton no longer uses them. Well apparently DRICA still uses them and charges the customers too. Norton will not take any responsibility and will not help to get the customer's money back. Every number that I've called for this DRI is out of service. It is a big scam! I've contacted my bank and was told that I have to wait til the transaction clears then cancel my card and file a dispute. I'm going to do so, then contact Better business and file a complaint with them also.

I had signed up for the automatic renewal option on the CA Internet Security Suite. My original renewal date was 2/24/10 in the amount of $69.99 (1st time my card was charged). Not quite a week later, I received another email offering their newest package for $34.99. (Why would I want to pay full price?) I purchased & downloaded the new version on 3/10/10. The next day (3/11) another charge for $69.99 was put on my credit card.

I called my credit card company and put both of the $69.99 charges in dispute.

Tonight I called the [protected] (number recommended by accman) and believe I have gotten it resolved. Ramesh has given me confirmation numbers for cancellations on the 2 charges of $69.99.

Lesson learned! Don't go for the automatic renewal option! Thanks, ACC for the phone #!

I just had the same thing happen to me for $49.99 which turned out to be an automatic update of my CA virus scan software. I forgot that I had setup the automatic update. I called [protected] and talked to a service rep because it was an overcharge for the update. They gave me a rebate for the balance. Make sure you didn't accidentally signup for an automatic update from CA through some other software company. I stopped my automatic updates for the future.

up date.
DRI*DIGITALRIVER.COM. is the auto-billing for Norton.
if you use things that are not part of your pacige you pad for you will be auto-billed for the new thing you are useing.

like if you did not bye the onlin-backup and you try to use it Norton will not stop you
it will just bill you for it .

if you read the "user agrement" it will tell you all this.

I actuallly got an email from Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA Security Antivirus) a few days before I noticed an unusual charge while checking my account online

"Your Antivirus 2008 3 User Microsoft Renewal Upgrade subscription has been automatically renewed. The following email is a summary of your order. Look for DRI*CA.comSoftware as the merchant on your credit card statement."

The statement was actually from DRI*DIGITALRIVER.COM. I paniced at first, but then remembered the email. There is a customer service number: [protected].

If you go to there website, www.digitalriver.com, and click customer service at the top, they give you the option to enter your email (I know... am i gonna get a lot of spam now?) and the last 5 digits of your credit/debit card and it will reveal what the purchase was (or was supposed to be). In my case, the charge was legitimate.

It could be something like Norton Antivirus that you cancelled, but they never processed it.

I hope this helps!

- Larry

Digital River unauthorized credit card charge

My credit card statement received today shows an unathorized charge for $34.95 from DRI Trend.

I called the number 952.253.1234 for DRI and had a "live" person remove me from the "automated" renewal list. He said they would put through a Debit to my credit card account for the $34.95 today and later I received an email telling me that my account with Micro Trend was cancelled.

Keep in mind THAT I NEVER ORDERED A RENEWAL. They simply did that on their own initiative knowing that a certain number of customers will not notice the unauthorized charge and another percentage will just accept it, even though they have never ordered it. A SCAM!

Digital River wrongful charges

I was told I had spy ware on my computer, so I went to norton anti virus to download the latest version which said it would get rid of this. Stupidity came over me and I thought Norton anti virus program was legit and it wasn't. I was charged twice from this website but it came under Dri*digitalriver.com under my bank statement. I think Norton anti virus is the one making these viruses just so you have to buy their product which doesn't work. Thanks a lot security systems!

Digital River no ability to download purchased software

I renewed my antivirus on Feb. 11. Since I am on dialup I could not download the program. I notified tech support and was told to download somekind of Accelerator Plus which did nothing to help. I asked for a refund and was told that since it was past 30 days (as I had gone away on vacation in the middle of this mess) that I could neither redownload or get a refund. I sent all the correspondence and received an email from someone named Byron GO that they usually tell dial up customers that they have to purchase the cd in order to use - which I was not told. He said I would be receiving a cd in 5-7 days. Have heard or seen nothing for 2 months. I just noticed that they also acknowledged my order and said since I agreed (which I did NOT)_to automatic update and billing each year, that they would bill my credit card when it needs renewing-- so now I'll be paying for absolutely NOTHING forever? How does this company get away with this deception and how do I get my money back and rid myself of them? I will go back to Norton - it works!

Well just for clarification, Digital River, is not the one who sell this products (as all of you keeps on insisting that they are the one!) actually, they are just an e-commerce company who supports the online store for almost 44, 000 different companies, manufacturer's and vendors all over the world! can you imagine those numbers! still can't get enough idea from this you stupid nothing for good people which the only thing knew to do is to complain and whine without even knowing what they were saying. (such a ###ic attitude!) Digital River are not the one who make the rules or decide over a purchase, they were just following what the vendor or the merchants told them to do. And c'mon, the vendors and the merchants are the one who get away without any problems, and the DR's agents are being blamed for something that they are doing the bext that they can just for the good of the customer and taking the vendors away from trouble~!~! and the worst thing is, those agents are being underpaid, force to work overtime! not being paid for those mandatory overtime and poorly trained by the management (and also the vendors and merchant's fault since they were not providing enough information about there procedure whos just taking the liberty that they are getting for granted!) Just heres the bottom line, when you call Digital River, expect that they may be insufficient to assist you right away, but rest assured that all of them are doing the best that they can to getall the information that they need just to give you all the information that your askiing from them and they are doing eveything to satisfy you! and by the way, they were also being forced by the vendors to lower down their AHT (average holding time) for 5 minutes a call! which is totally impossible to do, well i knew you already know the reason why its impossible, because you customer just take for granted every rightrs that you have, but how about the rights of those poor agents that your shouting, cursing, telling them that they were stupid, not enough for you, not good enough for you, hense your not even trying to consider what they were saying, your just keeping what you want to know, and when they say something that you don't like to hear eventhough its totally true that its your fault as well, your just gonna tell them "Are you a ###ing indian? i cant understand a single word that you said!" (by the way all the calls is being recorded so when you complain about an agent who doest speaks well using the English language, they will investigate about that, and God knows they were talking in a very fluent ENglish that even a deaf person will understand what they were saying!) you just keep on telling this complains and keep on insisting that they were the bad guys, but look at yourself on the mirror dudes, you were just describing and insulting your own selves!
