Sunrise Detox - Detox Center

Sunrise Detox Toms River NJ does not offer the services as they state and we were completely misled on the tour. If facility had disclosed the following: We would not have admitted patient to this facility: We have tried to resolve this matter since August 2015: Patient was self pay as facility did not take her insurance. Charge $4, 200 to our credit card. Failure to get involved with onsite counselors when patients plans to leave facility on discharge date and patient being put in a dangerous situation as now detoxed, facility knew there was ongoing discussion among the patients during their stay on planning this. Failure to do a family meeting or any meeting as they refused to get involved on discharge day to try and resolve this with patient or other patients and their family involved. Failure to do proper drug testing through out patients stay and proper searching of all patients for drugs upon being admitted. Facility never disclosed the potential of drugs coming into facility by other people being admitted and patients don’t get drug tested through out their stay to see that they are using drugs while there. There were outside drugs brought in/snuck in from other patients. Patient we admitted has confirmed that. Failure of proper supervision in areas of facility. The minimal supervision provided of the patients and their discussions throughout the day such as on the patio smoking area where illegal drugs are being offered and given by patients to other patients who are detoxing. Failure to offer counseling the day after patient being admitted as stated to us at tour of facility. The counselors did not offer counseling on an individual basis in fashion as explained as they made it appear when we toured. Patient did not get that individual counseling until after day 3 when it’s a 7 day stay. On tour we were told patient would be with counselor day after being admitted. We were told by counselor there when we called that they must have bypassed her and that they really only just scratch the surface anyway. This is not how it was explained to us upon admitting patient. Counseling during detox would be important and individual counseling we were told was every day and would start day after patient admitted. That is not what happened. Failure to inform that the bed available when we were called was in known men’s section as when we were told on tour there is a men and female section. If we had known that there was no bed available in female section on day of admitting and that she had to be put in men’s section for any length of time, we would not have admitted her. Failure to supervise staff as a Male tech came into patient’s room and was engaging in inappropriate behavior and touched patients back and was trying to rub back of patient, had patient not said for them to leave not really sure what would of happened. Patient asked tech to leave and was uncomfortable as this was after 1am in the morning. I have tried to resolve this matter since August 2015. I have been laughed at and hung up on from their staff at corporate office in FL. I have never rec a call back from John Moriarity who was admissions supervisor at the time. I have disputed the charges which were $4, 200 with my credit card company and the facility has disputed back and would not allow the credit or even a partial credit. I have tried to speak to owners and or CFO or COO of facility and was told staff not allowed to give out their phone number. After 2 months I finally spoke with VP of Operations Lynda Mitcheletti who stated director at the Toms River NJ facility would be in touch with me. About 3 weeks went by and 3 phone calls from me before director called me back. Then yesterday after numerous calls the VP Lynda called me back and stated she would try to work with me and meet me half way and do a partial half credit back to my credit card then she called me back 3 hours later and stated our team decided not to help you, this was such a unprofessional call and their actions from beginning have lacked the professionalism that a business should have. This facility just appears to check patients in take their money if self pay or just bill insurance and do nothing to resolve any issue that may come up during stay or if issues are found out after the stay. This facility has refused to try and resolve the issues as stated above. I will be placing complaints with Board Of Nursing and State Of NJ and any other entity that may be able to help me. Its hard enough to get someone who is addicted to get treatment and this facility Sunrise Detox in Toms River NJ does not stand by what they claim to offer and mislead family and patient on what the services are and is a disgrace to any properly functioning facility out there. How does a facility offer detox and then not get involved when there is a issue, not even offer a family counseling session to try and resolve when a issue comes up? I was told they can do nothing in way of helping to talk and have a family meeting with all that was going on that day of discharge, Sunrise Detox in Toms River would not help at all and basically said we can do nothing. They would not even take the time to try. They also will not address all the other issues that happened during stay and were found out after or on last day of stay.

This detox also promised me a comfortable detox..the man from Florida was a really good liar and a patient brokerage..I really didn't want to go inpatient due to several reasons but I was really vulnerable and his SALE PITCH looking back was cruel. I was miserable the entire stay and unless your a heroin addict you'll be okay. Some patients were doing drugs and some were being over medicated. My discharge was on a weekend with no RX no contacts for outpatient treatment, needless to say, I had a seizure 2 days later. Plus the inmates were running the asylum. I was told by the guy in Florida your insurance is GREAT..I have it on tape ..Plus they took blood and urine only to come back to say it was LOST after they gave me medicine they collected more because I was told by one of the staff that if the first collection does not detect enough (I was trying to stop before I went) they will medicate you so something comes up in blood/urine so insurance covers stay. I too will go to other sources to investigate this cash cow

With what I was using it takes a very long time to come off so they had no f***ing clue how to deal with my detox, it was a dangerous game this place had me in..Oh the NP came in and checked my heart I had a coat on!

I heard there was drugs being brought in as well from other patients. No one is totally checked when admitted. My son was there 2 times already. He called them begging for help after paying out of pocket twice they told him the lowest they'd go was $3500 and that they are sorry they can't do better and good luck to him. Really...? What a**holes! He didn't get clean from going there and now I know why! I'm still paying his 1st stay to Sunrise Detox in Toms River off as I am a low income disabled mom. There is NOWHERE for a Medicaid patient to go in this state! Unless you get on a waiting list which if your child comes to you and said they need help are you really going to go on a waiting list? Their next fix could be their last! How ridiculous is that?
