The managers at this Publix are terrible. They do not care about their employees and are not considerate at all. For example, my friend who works there is trying to finish college and they won't even bother trying to help her finish school by giving her predictable hours. The only thing Publix is required to help with is high school students and employees who are participating in the Publix scholarship program. Anyone else who does not fit that criteria is left at the curb. This Publix It is one of the largest and highest grossing stores outside of Florida, and it shows in the managers' attitudes and poor treatment of their employees. Publix puts on a front to all their customers, but if their customers knew the truth, they would be ashamed to shop there. The more I learn about this company, the more I hesitate shopping here.

I have been working at Publix for 3 years as a cashier. Sure shopping may be a pleasure sometimes... But working there is a different story. Full Time is hard to come by so your stuck working unstable part-time hours. I mean how are you supposed to be able to live off of 30 hours one week and 15 the next? Managment doesnt like to get thier hands dirty and will often stand in a group and watch us struggle.Must be nice to get paid more to do less.I used to be a chipper, happy cashier with the 'publix' motto. I now tell this to all new recruits, this place will suck the life out of you. Til your left with a bitter tired being.Remember customers.. most the time it isnt the cashiers fault about changes in policies. The nitwits upstairs like to tell us different rules week to week. Often leaving us very confused on what is right. So if i seem and annoyed, be patient with me. I am as human(not robots who are stuck in kiss ### mode) as you are and have bad days myself. We cashier and baggers are just trying to cling to the small amout of sanity we have left.

If Publix is lying to the public then isn't that illegal? I would think that false advertising is illegal. Hummmm...

I agree! I have been working at Publix for about two or three months now and since the beginning I've been given 19 hour shifts AT MINIMUM (Last week I worked 36 even though part-timers should get 35). I had requested this date off since I started my job, today I looked at my schedule for the week. LO AND BEHOLD, for the first time ever I work 15 hours that week. I was shocked. Apparently this happens to everyone. A coworker of mine had to take time of for the weekend to take his mom to an out of state doctor (She has Cystic Fibrosis). He is already having money problems because he is helping to pay for all of her doctors visits and their going to cut his hours by 2/3 of what it normally is cause he needed to take a Saturday off? Dick move Publix. Dick move.

and what is it with posting the schedules up sometimes not till Thursday to see if your working that weekend? At least Walmart has its schedules up 2 weeks in advance. You cant even make plans for the weekend unless 1) you ask for a request, at which you will lose hours for the week and you're looked at as a "non-team player" or 2) you have set n/a days but if thats for any weekend time, youre schedule is bone dry. Some of us would like a second job, or go to school.
