Mate1 Enterprises unauthorised debit from my bank account

mate1 (an online dating service) advertised a £1.95 3 day trial, and if the service user wants to continue with the programe they will authorize direct debit of 39.95 (pounds) payable to mate1. Apart from the initial 1.95 I HAVE NOT AUTHOURIZED ANY FURTHER PAYMENT to mate1. now my bank has informed me that mate1 have lined up a direct debit of 39.95 payable to them on the 26/10/12. I would deem it a great help if this un-authorized withdrawal can be prevented post haste, and if they have already debited my account, my money should be returned. your promt assistance and response will be appreciated. sincerly yours. mr marcus erh-abor.

When you sign up for Mate1's 3-Day Trial, it states in four separate places throughout the purchase process that you must cancel before the trial ends, or you begin the monthly subscription. This is outlined in the first clause of the Terms and Conditions, which you must agree to in order to sign up.

Cancellation can be done online quickly when you are in the "My Settings" portion of your profile - simply click on "Account Settings", then click Subscription Status (you will be prompted to verify your password for security reasons) and then follow the prompted steps to cancel. Alternatively you can always call our toll-free phone support [protected], or [protected] if you are outside North America), or use our round-the-clock email support from our help page - http://www.mate1.com/nw/faq - as well as a live chat support feature available during normal business hours to cancel your subscription. After doing so your membership will be terminated at the end of the current billing cycle and you will not be re-billed again. You may re-activate your membership at any time.

Please get in touch with our Customer Support team regarding any issues you are experiencing, or any technical difficulties you have encountered and we'll be happy to try and resolve them with you. That's what we're here for!

Mate1 Enterprises scam site

OK, I am about to finish my month on Mate1. The negative comments continue to be true. Let me say that I signed on to this five years ago, and it was NOT like this. I did meet people. NOW, it is ONLY a den of porn stars, and marriage scams. I found only one person that was where they said they were, and she was in Malaysia. Mere in Ghana, Nigeria or Malaysia but claimed they were in the US, on their profile. If you take one line of their profile and put it into Google, you find that very often that same line is associated with many pics on different sites. I blocked 40 people who directed you to porn sites or were clear romance scams. After canceling, I did spend the last few days to see if I could find a real person. Just anyone, even less than desirable. I could not find more than two in a month, one was in Ghana and the other was in Malaysia. They seem nice, although you never know. Again, five years ago, this was a neat site, now it is just horrible. It should be shut down, it is a scam.

I see now that they do not charge women at all. I watched many of these scammers just change names and show up in my face, again. They should charge a small fee for women if they want to regain a semblance of credibility. When I paid for this, my bank, called me. They wondered if someone had accessed my account. since they are sure this is a scam site. ( That may be related to the overcharging people complain about. I have not had that yet. ) A couple of things, you can tell that they are working girls if the age range they are looking for, is bizarre, for instance it is often 30-90. If they put their email in the profile that is a sign. They do not have to pay, and so, it is not like they are trying to avoid paying by putting their email there. Again, I could not find one person who was in the country, not one. This is just horrible. ( I will remain on here to respond to what are clearly people who troll this in support of this scam site and post the names of the blocked people and other data if necessary. )

I logged off, and the month for which I paid ended, I am not sure if I can post the names of the 40 profiles I blocked. I will try to do so if challenged. Finally, they say that they will ban these people, but they never do so. Not once, each time they kept their names and continued or changed their names. Now, often they would delete the picture they were using.

Before I realized that I should open my own complaint, I did complain under another thread. THIS fellow responded to that thread. You can find what I wrote there by searching my screen name. He totally agreed with me, in less detailed fashion.

I totally agree with the opinion that this is a scam site. After only a month on this site, I met over 20 women from Ghana or other places outside of the U.S. Many women tried to say they were citizens of the U.S. but after only a few questions, I could quickly tell they had no clue as to our language or the city they claimed to live in. I would not advise anyone to fall for this scam site.

Oct 20, 2012 1:59 pm EDT

The change their name all of the time. I watched it happen and documented it. Again, none of these folks were banned in the 30 days I was on the site, AND mate1 only responded to about four or five of my complaints. Again, I am not one to complain easily. However, once I do, I am pretty detailed about it. This is my first complaint on this complaint board.

I found a security system that could care less. This complaint was a further test. When you get a poor outfit like this, they routinely defend themselves when they receive a complaint that MAY affect their future revenue. Even though they could care less about the running of the site.

Logging on right now, I can see several familiar faces with different names. if they charged you for each name or kept you from changing names, then that would not happen. This not rocket science, it is just fraud on the part of mate1.

Looking at the log, the flirts continued even after I had finished my month on this service. That is pretty funny. They just keep on coming. Again, when someone did that, I would follow up. It would happen as often as it is still happening. I found ONLY working girls in following up. To be clear, I just copy pasted the screen names of people who flirted with me in the last four days. My last day on that service was Sept 30.

A very common ploy is for the girls to ask you to their web cam. So, I would play along to see just what they were up to, and so I could docuement exactly what they were doing. FIrst of all, they ask you about the mate1 video cam upgrade. That is the giveaway, there is no such thing. But I would let them send me the link, so that I could document the process. Most often the link would LOOK just like a mate1 web page and tell you to put in your credit card information. At other times, it would send you to another dating web site.

Oh yes, when you screen the profiles by putting snippets of them into Google, I did find three that had been men in the past. Net, I documented that you are not even talking to someone of the correct sex at times.

Mate1 Enterprises unauthorized cc billing

I accepted a 3-day "free" trial membership from Mate1.com in March. They requested a CC number for "ID" purposes. Without express authorization from me, on Marcg 8, 2012, Mate1 charged $49.95 to my VISA debit card, processed by CCbill.com, which I disputed with my bank. Then, after my bank refunded the transaction price, on June 11 Mate1 AGAIN processed the same transaction my bank cancelled!
Mate1 is treading on very shaky (AND SHADY!) ground. I am considering this latest transaction as fraudulent, and reporting Mate1's fraud to law enforcement through my banking officer.

I did not "decide" to have CCbill.com process my payment. CCbill.com IS THE ONLY PAYMENT OPTION OFFERED. This is just ONE of the Big Lies that Mate1.com is telling. I notified Mate1.com Customer Service of my cancellation through its website. The requirement to have CCbill.com cancel the credit card processing is rightfully Mate1's - NOT MINE! (Does Walmart require you to go to a credit card center to issue a store refund? Of course not!)
This doesn't even begin to address the issue of all the young ladies who patrol the site, asking guys to ""register" (i.e. upgrade from trial to full paid membership) for the purpose of "VIEWING MY NAUGHTY PHOTOS!". I have several emails of this scam stored in my inbox, and plan to release these on this and other sites so that THE WHOLE WORLD WILL KNOW HOW MATE1.COM CONDUCTS ITS BUSINESS with unsuspecting male victims.

This is Mate1 Customer Support. When you decide to have CCBill.com process your online billing for our site, it means you are paying directly with them through your checking account. Your charges are then connected to CCBill.com, & you should then contact them directly with any cancellation requests or payment issues. It should be noted that when clients contact us requesting a cancellation with CCbill.com, we can contact them on your behalf & have your request processed. Please also note that if you do not see Mate1.com next to any charges, then this means we have never billed you anything, & you must contact the company who did. We apologize for not being able to help you with this, & we hope that CCBill.com gives you the support you request from them.

Mate1 Enterprises taken money not authorized

I asked for a three day trial and then cancelled but they went a head and charged to my credit card for full membership after I cancelled. I've tried to e-mail them, but it comes back, tried writting, no response, tried to call, they say thier closed. I don't know whatelse to do but called my credit card company and tell them and the BBB. I want my money back and the problem they created fixed.

I find this quite interesting, do to the fact that I tried for 6 days to get as hold of them, and finally today I was talking with someone that told me that they had been having a lot of trouble with the phone lines, and that was why I couldn't get them. She did finally say, they would give the money bac, that it would take about 5-7 days, but at least they were willing to finally work with me. But I must say that they were not up and runnning at all on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, plus Monday. I'm just glad that they will fix the problem now.

I was also on the 1.95 three day trial, and then cancelled after 1 day. They still billed me for the month of December. I tried calling and got nothing. How do I get my money back? This is a ripoff if I ever saw one, and the guy I met on here also tried to bilk me out of money. What a waste of internet time. Someone needs to crack this site wide open. They are nothing but thieves!

Mate1 Enterprises stay away from this site like the plague

Like many so called dating sites, this is just another scam where they are looking only for money. I joined for free in July and almost immediately received notification of the many women who were interested in me based on my profile. Of course in order to contact them or receive their messages, I would have to upgrade which of course costs money. The comedy of it all is that since I joined, 172 women have sent me emails, but only one individual has viewed my profile. In addition, most of them do not even come close to what I'm looking for (simple things like age and distance from where I live). Fortunately, I never upgraded or spent any money (having been burned on other sites), but get a chuckle on the almost daily notifications of who's interested in me. Stay away from this site like the plague.

Hi JoshT79

Creating an account with us is indeed free. As a free guest member of Mate1, you are able to create and edit your personal profile as you wish, including adding photos and a voice message. You are also able to browse among the millions of other members, and send free flirts (short, one-click messages) to other members with one click of the mouse.

As a full member, you can enjoy unlimited communication with other members of your choice. This means that you are able to use our live chat feature, send and receive email, listen to voice recordings, see who has viewed your profile, and view all photos in a member's gallery - all of which can be done as often as you desire.

As you can see there are benefits to being both types of member - however, in order to communicate with our other members and to use the site's full features, you must become a full member of Mate1. We occasionally offer a 3-day trial membership which we hope you will consider taking advantage of.

Please note that there is a limit of one 3-day trial per member - if you took advantage of a 3-day trial in the past, you can only renew your membership as a full monthly subscriber.

Please get in touch with our Customer Support team regarding any issues you are experiencing, or any technical difficulties you have encountered and we'll be happy to try and resolve them with you. That's what we're here for!

Mate1 Enterprises scam

I had my profile on mate1.com and another member from mate1 started contacting me from mate1. We have communicated now by e-mail, yahoo messanger, and by telephone. She said that her name was Lia Laura Lewis from Elgin, Il, she said that her dad worked for Julius Berger Construction Company in Nigeria. She said that he died in an auto accident there. She went there about 1 and a half years ago to claim her dads property and inheritance and gold from there. She said that she was going to marry me and come to Arkansas to be with me. I have sent her $3501 thru Western Union money transfers to Ilesa zip code 23401 state Osun Nigeria, for medical tests, plane fare, food, motel bills, travel agent fees and other things. She even told me that the government there wanted to charge her $1200 to sign her passport and $1700 to stamp her passport. I beleived her and I even contacted the Consulate at the US Embassy at Lagos for help, and other agencies for help. The US embassy at Lagos said that they would help her. She told me that she went there with her travel agent and the Embassy signed and stamped her documents for free. I even contacted the airlines that she was going to fly here on KLM airlines and they told me that the medical tests, and charges for stamping and signing her documents were fraud, that no medical tests were required and it is free to sign and stamp her documents. They gave me the Consulate's email address and phone number in Lagos and they said the US Embassy would help her to leave Nigeria for free. She had her flight booked and was going to fly here on 06-05-10 then she said that the wouldn't let her on her flight because she had no credit card for flight insurance that she said that Nigeria required her to have before leaving the country. I told her that this was Bull ### that there was no such thing making you have flight insurance and a credit card for the insurance. I then finally got the Consulate at the US Embassy at Lagos and the US passport and visa department to tell me that Lia Laura Lewis was a fraud and that she didn't have a passport or visa. Also I found out about the dating scammers website delphifaq.com you do a search under Lia19, Lia19.com, Lia Lewis, or Monica Akorful, and there are hundreds of Lia photos and scams, and nick names that are listed under these names and photos. Lia Laura Lewis [protected]@yahoo.com is the one that scammed me out of the $3501, she sent me numerous photos, drivers license, dads will, and pictures of vechiles, houses, and properties. Another person named Monica Akorful sent me a lot of the same pictures, [protected]@yahoo.com. They might be working together. Also I think Mate1 is working with the scammers also because a lot of the people that are members from Mate1 are listed on the delphifaq.com website also and have contacted me also. Lia Laura Lewis has been calling me from phone #+[protected], she told me last sunday that someone was going to kill me and her.

I sign for the three day trial period but then on the third day cancelled it because I couldn't get into the e-mail or anything else. But you went a head and charged top myt credit card anyways. I've tried to e-mail (which keeps coming back to me) tried to call (your voice mail said closed) and WROTE YOU, what more can I do? Stop takeing from my credit card and put back the $49.95, that you shouldn't have took in the first place. I'm going to notify my credit card company and BBB. If this problem isn't taken care of right away.

Mate1 Enterprises keep charging for something I do not use

I notified the company that I did not use this account. I already have an account with this company using [protected]@att.net and the fee is taken out of my account [First National Bank, Henryetta, Ok] I have another Email address [protected]@att.net and it become connected with Mate1. It could have very well been my fault. I contacted Mate1 and was told that no tranactions were used for the month I called they would refund that fee. Mate1 keeps taking money out for that email address and no mrefund was received. The fee is taken out of another account I use [American Exschange Bank, Henryetta, Ok] I would appreciated it if you would correct this and send refund or credit to the right account. thank you for your time. Wow! All of the above comments are true. She is a scam and sent me different picks then above a very attractive blonde. Orphanage came into play but location was Nigeria in our conversation. But started asking hard questions and honest questions and she bailed.
Where these scam artist get these picks I would love to know identity theft big time. Surely not her at all. The reason is its the language in her messages on Mate 1 involved does not fit the the profile at ALL! Ladies and Gentlemen BEWARE scam all the way!

I think i'm in contact with someone similar. Different picture of another person. Her mum has had surgery and needs help with medication, life and death situation. Also in Nigeria and her name supposedly Michelle as well. michellegeorge74@hotmail.com. The name Michelle caught my attention. Claims to lived in Port Adelaide, but reluctant to give you any information about herself. The dialogue and spelling differs in emails like there is two or more people writing to you. A number of questions have been repeated throughout the number of emails, and have had one signed under a different name.

The website is a scam, I was sent messages and replied to them. All I got in response was what is seemingly an automated response. Something on the lines of "hello, what are you doing this weekend" (not exact words, please keep in mind) I responded with an actual message, my response back was "what are you doing this weekend". However I did meet one Russian girl, we exchanged actual messages, about a week of exchanging we began to send emails to each other off the site. After about three weeks of chatting we were suppose to meet, when it came to the day we had to meet, she had to leave for Russia. It all had something to do with her family needing money etc... (you know the rest) Upon canceling MAte 1 I had nothing but difficulties, luckily my credit card had expired. Best way to cancel the membership is to just call your own credit card or bank.

Mate1 Enterprises fraudulent billing after cancellation

Having earlier cancelled my subscription in July 2010 with a note not to contact me with sales again, I was surprised to see them still emailing me about possible matches with my bank detail still held by them and bothering me severally to reactivivate again in August. I consider this as rougue trading and unlawful. I also see their action as an intentional and fraudly use of one's bank detail given to them initially when joining the site, which by law they are required to delete promptly after cancellation.

However, while checking my mails about 4 days ago I mistakingly pressed their "activate button" but never used any of their services still having realised my error immediately. This can be verified! Their action by still emailling me and urging me to reactivate after cancellation and after making my intention known that I never want to have anything to do with them again was very dodgy and questionable. I hope they did not take any money from my account as subsciption again this month (August). I demand again now that my name, email address and my bank account details are removed from their file immediately. They can not force sales on people in a modern and lawful society.

Thank you.

Mate1 Enterprises charged after cancellation

I subscribed for the temporary three day trial period. This was to cost only three dollars. In small print in back pages there is documentation that the subscription is renewed automatically. I took pains to check a box to indicate I did not want this done. But Mate1 ignored this and charged me a whopping fifty bucks for my first month's renewal. Unbelievable. I see many others have gone through similar experiences with Mate1.

This is so typical of this site and many other similar sites. In the small print they hide that it is a recurring charge and/or that there will be additional charges.

It is my contention as a scammer investigator that these sites should be forced to notify you in large print on the sign up page that the charges will be ongoing and in fact I believe that if they were ethical they would not require ongoing charges at all but set up that you must approve on a month by month basis before charging the card.

The problem with this site specifically and this category of sites in general is that even when you cancel they continue to charge for months. I believe that this is standard practice to enhance their bottom lines.

I personally had to file suit against one site to force them to stop charging my account because they threatened to file credit card fraud charges against me for calling my bank and demanding that they not pay the charge resulting in a charge back for the website. I even had a cancellation number and they still refused to cooperate.

Mate1 Enterprises fraud

Mate1.com is a total fraud! They run banner ads claiming they are giving away FREE memberships for men, but all they do is allow you to set up a profile. You CANNOT RECEIVE, WRITE, OR SEND messages, you cannot accept instant messages, as a matter of fact, you cannot do ANYTHING AT ALL on their web site except set up a profile.

What good is a profile when nobody can communicate with you, NOT EVEN PAYING MEMBERS. Most so called "Free" memberships to sites at least allow paying members to contact you and you would be allowed to at least send a flirt to show interest. NOT MATE1, their so-called "Free" membership is NOT a membership at all. They do NOT want anyone to actually have communication until you cough up BIG BUCKS!

They charge $49.95 a MONTH, and they are NOT worth it according to people who I know who have been on there, they have a relatively small number of members because their prices are so ridiculously high. Who in their right mind would pay $49.95 a month for a lame dating site membership?

I am very disappointed with this $49.95 month web-site. There are too many women on a gay/male site looking for the 'right' man! They are mostly from
Canada - like that country, but don't do this to U.S. citizens. My profile matches are the same, over and over. From California, Washington state, Ontario,
British Columbia, Vancouver, Idaho, deep south Ohio, etc., etc. I live in mid-state Michigan. I have tried over and over again to correct my search area, but
nothing works. I keep getting 200mi. and no ethnicity - b.s.. I e-mailed your company 2 days ago, 10/19/10, and asked about 'hotlist or hotlisted' - what
does it really mean. No one has contacted me back yet. I will have to cancel my subscription with you people, and good luck to me trying to do this - you
have too much of my information!

Mate1 Enterprises fake profiles and emails

I think the entire site is in one way or another a scam with fake profiles. I get the notices only to discover the profile is an ambassador working for the site, or some fake chat member - scam artist asking for money. Many different profiles and many different states all with different pictures HOWEVER; the verbiage is IDENTICAL. Skirt around every question and if you ask anything legitimate, the profile just disappears!

BUYER BEWARE - Google this site before joining!

Georgia Mason, same kind of result from me. False names/pictures/locations; scammers galore, asking for money or the famous "hit me up" on Google line. A total scamm altogether. These people shouild be ashamed of toying with other peoples feelings. Many of us who subsacribe have legitimate backgrounds, take the time to respond - - ususally quite elaborately, are serious and honest about our feelings, only to be let down by opportunists. This is a cruel game some people pay; if Mate1 and any other dating service expects to stay in business, they absolutely need to be checking the information of all who "subscribe" to insure they are legitimate. I would dare say that the percentage of scammers far exceeds the number of legitimate members!ers,
