l bought a kitten and than took her back to the vet at the shelter as she was twitching all the time, he said she was fine, l was still concerned after a few days so took her to Foothills Veterinary clinic, the vet there said its possible she is having fits and would need blood tests and perhaps a scan or mri, being on a pension l cant afford that so l returned her to the shelter, hoping they could look into it and than l could adopt her back again, they said they preferred the animal to go back to the home it knows. Long story short the lady at the shelter Sue Thompson said Bella the kitten will not beable to be adopted out and would most likely be put down, l said if she is not in any pain and nothing more can be done why cant l have her back to live her life out and be happy, she said this wouldnt be happening, l asked to see Bella and she said no. My complaint is why if this kitten can not have anything done for it and it is not suffering why does she have to be put down. l cant seem to get any help the ladies l spoke to at the shelter were very rude to me. My name is jennifer slimmon my e mail address is [protected]@yahoo.com

Hi Jennifer,
I have dealt with the same shelter, i am actually taking a legal stand against this shelter. I was given misleading advice, wrong guidance on procedures undertaken within the shelter. Based on this my dog was put down with no further discussion. The board member Christine was quick to hide behind policy and procedure as well as being down right rude and pointing out the fact that it was my fault. Technically it was their wrong doing as they allowed someone to surrender the animal who was not the rightful owner, when i contacted them for clarification i was reassured that i would be made fully aware of any movement made against my dog, little did she know i was the legal owner who never singed him over so therefore i had every right of knowing how i would handle the matter thereafter. Instead another staff member olga advised me that he will not be put down without me knowing unless i have been made aware and that it would be discussed further for me to go and pick him up again.. they overlooked this as on the day of surrendering my dog i was suppose to make them aware not to put down.. funny that as i did not surrender him, i called to verify what i can do as i was not made aware when he was taken there.. was told it is ok we will note it on the system. That was never looked into as they put him down without consulting me when i was advised by a staff member.. Christine than stated well you should have read the paper work and btw he was not registered and he bit a staff member and attacked another dog so he deserved to be put down it is your fault, sorry that his behaviour and anxiety got the better of him, at home he never did that, as a responsible pet owner stated in legislation dogs known to show signs of misbehaving should be watched carefully be fully enclosed in your premises as well as tied on a leash, this was followed and never did we have an issue! If i did bring him in i would have signed off the declaration accordingly and the staff would have been made fully aware of his behaviour.. well christine i didnt hand him over and when me being the legal owner found out i called to get misleading guidance and advised by Olga who obviously has no idea about what she can authorise nor had no authority nor any clue about her own workplace guidelines. I just dealt with Christine who needs to get off her high horse and possibly take a look at her own behavioural problems as she has no sympathy for someone who has lost their pet.. stating that i was bullying her because they did the wrong thing.. i will never forget that phone call. No communication skills what so ever.. you would think working in that industry and being a board member that you could speak to anyone on all levels without adding fuel to the fire. Not sure how she has lasted in her position but i guess being so defensive means only one thing... fault! This is Sezer, he was 3 years old, my family have been through a traumatic event where my mother gave him up without me knowing, i cried on the phone to olga not to have him put down i will come and pick him up.. it would have brought me time to make arrangements to suit Sezer, he did not stand a chance and i have myself to blame for not going and picking him up as soon as i found out which was 4 hours later because my mother would not tell me. After speaking to Olga i felt like he would be in capable hands, how can they let him escape? Obviously not secure and for him to escape it obviously meant he was not settling in well even though another staff member told me when i followed up the day after.. he suffered anxiety and got out and made his death wish.. no ifs or buts. I was the if or the but, if contacted like advised. Just another dog, another number..
