This company does not know how to take care of the employees!

For the last 6 months of my employment with them, I still have no clear job description and have to face several impediments to be able to do my job properly.

1. For a call center, EXL service does not have enough work stations. I have been thrown out of my work station everyday to give way to agents to take calls. Support staff and team leads also do not have a work station to fulfill their duties, create reports, listen to recorded calls, etc.

2. Management enjoys over-hiring agents to create a buffer. There are always 10-15 agents over-hired as buffer alone for attrition. These agents do not have a work station and just sits around waiting for a vacant station to take in calls.

3. For the last 6 months that I have worked with them, HR has never paid my SSS loan. I have provided the necessary documents but still no payment has been made and my loan penalty is now sky rocketing.

4. Management would always turn a blind eye on all complaints and suggestions.

5. The company has broken the trust of the employees and has never accepted or acknowledged confidentiality. One employee has filed a complaint to the main headquarters regarding a high ranking Philippine official, with the statement "keep this email complaint confidential as I do not wish to jeopardize my job", however, the main office has never acknowledged the statement and forwarded the very same email to the people involved, thus the complainant has lost trust with the company and has suffered from emotional and mental stress.

6. Food poisoning issues and complaints has not been addressed. It was only addressed after 2years of non-stop complaints and after a group of employees banded together to fight with management.

7. Incentives were never released on the promised date of release. Attendance bonuses from December are still unpaid.

8. Salaries are supposed to be paid every 15th and 30th of the month. Common practice in the Philippines is that if the pay day falls on a weekend, then salary must be released on a Friday before the cutoff, however EXL always releases the salary at 5PM! Meaning banks are already closed and if you're running after bills payment, you will have to pay penalties already since you are late for the banking day!

9. Management and higher Ops lack logistics in implementing their RnRs and incentive programs (including events), after too much damage has been done, they wash their hands and pass the dirty job of cleaning after their mess to senior executives 1-2 days before the actual event. No "thank you's" whatsoever!

10. Out of 10 promises, 20 are left undone!

11. Upper management has already admitted that the company has been mismanaged by the VPs sent from India, however they refuse to correct everything and instead would make short term goals without correcting the previous mistakes.

12. Philippine higher management employees have always denied their associations with other scam or defunct call centers.

13. Many employees have complained about non-remittance of SSS and philhealth payments by the company.

14. Contrary to the employment ads posted on the internet and newspaper, EXL does not provide dental care for the HMO --- false advertising!

EXL is indeed the worst bpo company. They do not care about their employee. 2 days consecutive days of sick leave even with a valid medical certificate would earn you an IR (aka memo). That means goodbye to your performance bonus. They work you to the ground and they do not care if you fall and die. It is true that you will not have your own station. You may be forced to wait until the morning shift finishes their work before you can work. But of course, work load will be the same. The workload is ridiculous. You barely have time for lunch.

And one more thing, they will really make it hard for you to claim your back pay, BIR Form 2316, and other relevant documents. Even though you already complied and completed your clearance, you will really have a hard time in claiming the aforementioned items. My clearance was completed last Nov. 3, 2016. Until now, I have no idea about the status of my back pay and other relevant documents. If you called their hot line for follow up, an answering machine will prompt you saying "All circuits are busy now. Please try again later." This was the answer on the phone no matter how many times you tried to call them. Very annoying and unprofessional!

EXL MOA @ 11th Flr. 2 E-com Tower >> Yeah, worst company that I've ever worked with. Very disgusting. Managers are very inconsiderate to employees even though they are attending scholarship classes offered by the company. They won't even agree to put you on slide shift. The result? You have to choose whether to skip classes or be late for work. Very pathetic! And even though your VLs are already approved, managers will contact you to cancel your VL while you are in the middle of your vacation! How arrogant! Those are the experiences that I've encountered in EXL MOA during my whole 1 year stay there. That's why I transferred to another company.

And to think I was about to apply at this company. Had the same problems from my previous company, tech mahindra, also managed by a large team of indians. After so long I decided that I really had no respect for the company at all and just went awol. i dont even care about my last pay and all. i really cannot stand having anything to do with that company anymore. they never remitted any of our sss loans or whatever deductions they get from our salary. what the hell is up with that? they dont even provide a complete and proper breakdown of your salary. they just provide the amount you're getting and how much was deducted that's it. just posting these because they are very similar to the complaints found on this article. these people from upper management from these types of companies, their methods are absolutely disgusting. one thing's for sure, they will never make it in the long run. everyone who's anyone knows that. Ginoo nay bahala nila.

I worked with exl as well.. and I strongly agree that the management is poor.
In India we complained a lot about the food to the AVPs and other higher authorities. Still we did not have any food on the counter at nights. We used to starve. When told about this to my direct senior he said "even we tried telling the higher authorities. Cant help."
The training team is excellent and I have no complaints abt it. The higher mngement however trouble you a lot.

Nobody falls ill 2 days in advance. I fell ill and was hospitalised. As there was a cab defect i was told that i wont be getting a cab for the month. I had informed about my problem approximately a day in advance.

Some comments are true while some are not. I am a former EXL employee and I had these issues with the final pay which was not yet settled until now (8 months and counting). I hope they will not leave a bitter taste in my mouth.

I work there now.Joined back in January, 2013. So far i have had no complaints. There is a gym, siesta room, cafeteria and the pay is on time.I have nothing to complain. Every office will have politics. I am yet to hear of an organization which doesn't have politics. But at the end of the day i feel the Indians and Filipinos here are getting along fine. We have a lot to learn from each other in terms of work experience and culture.I guess things have changed from 2010 when you were there. I wouldn't ask anyone to make judgments based on my opinion or the complainant. But i would really ask anyone who is looking out for a job at EXL to actually come down and visit.I feel its really stupid to let go off a well paying job opportunity in our economy based on something that was posted on the net 3 years back.

I joined in the same year EXL revamped HR. The new guards had a gargantuan task of undoing the wrongs of the past. I can empathize how it must have been difficult for them to start anew with so many horrors stories like the ones sent by this post. But I must say that they have done a phenomenal job in reengineering the function and changing the face of HR.They cleaned up SSS and Pag ibiig listings for one. Also, since the time i joined, Payroll has always been paid on time or ahead of time...but still within labor requirements in terms of number of days between pay outs. There are still misses. But these misses are immediately addressed. I have experienced payroll disputes immediately resolved. After all, the company knows what can happen if pay is not done or given out properly. Also, erring managers' attention is called and escalated if they miss approvals or submissions. This way, mistakes don't happen again. This HR team has teeth that bite those who need to be disciplined! I know that payroll is audited every year. I also know that the company has passed the strictest of audits for the past two years. With the huge growth, the company had to strengthen its leadership line up. I am very happy writh the managers we have. Well at least I can say this about the managers I have. Our Country Head has a huge heart. Even an agent can set up a meeting with him. And while he is Indian, he is more Filipino than some Filipnos I know. Whenever we have issues, especially payroll issues, he personally would work on getting thses fixed quickly. Even if it would mean paying extra to get a special payroll processed.

Obviously you are not an agent. No one from the lower ranks ever talked to the big/top bosses. The big bosses do not work on payroll issues personally. If you have any goodness left in you be honest.

The review was posted way back in 2010. It is now 2013! I am mortified that readers think of this review as if it was posted yesterday! I am a proud employee of EXL and I have not experienced any of these situations in my two years of stay with the organization.
Pt1: Exl now has three centers. A floor in OneEcom center and another floor in TwoEcom. A second floor in TwoEcom is being fitted for operation sometime in Q3 of this year. A third center was recently inaugurated this month in Cebu. I cannot comment how EXL was then in 2010, but this lack of workstations is a thing of the past. With a growth of 100% YOY, the company must be doing a number of things right! Besides, with audits from its various clients that happen almost every other month (monthly, at times), surely, an issue as basic as this would have been addressed if it had still occurred. I have a workstation and so does the rest in the organization. So there you go!
Pt2: Buffers are strategic decisions implemented to ensure that work is not impacted when employees pursue other avenues outside. Personally, it beats the hell out of being stretched to cover the tasks of those who left because someone is readily available to take on the work. Furthermore, clients are billed per agreed headcount. It makes perfect sense for the company to ensure it has the appropriate productive workforce to meet the committed expectations of the client.

Good for you. In exl 2 consecutive days of sick leave means you will be getting an Incident report ir memo. It does not matter if you are on your death bed or you have a medical certificate. 2 consecutives days of sick leave means you will be getting an ir/memo, which also means no performance bonus for the month.
They do not treat their employees like human beings. For them, they are machines. Nothing more but maybe even less.

ive worked with EXL.. most of these stories are true. sad to say. they have a high basic salary but what will you do if the higher ops people doesnt do their job? the AMs doesnt even CARE about you, whether youre in the office or absent or better yet, its good to be not there at all because, they will just notice you if youre interesting or should i say, pag popular ka sa floor.. with regard to the salary, its a good thing that you have a higher basic salary compared to other centers but let me tell you that they dont give the HOLIDAY PAY during training. we hate this during training. we came to work during holyweek, and holy crap, its like they dont give it all. i'd like to think that it just goes to the tax but wtf! all contact centers pay holidays worked. OPS people doesnt do their job, you asked them questions and yet youre not confident on their answers..talk about PROMOTING the wrong people..hell yeah! there are trainers who are not supposed to be trainers. im not bitter or what. im just telling the awful truth here. and oh btw, the basic salary of a company with 12k would be perfect with lots of benefits, with all the dental optical, meds allowance. people who are working there are organized compared to EXL. good thing im not with this company anymore. goodluck to people who will apply and be under on this poor managemnt company

Some of the points here are true... while some are mere exaggerations.

points 1 & 2 are true. i witnessed these. this isn't over staffing... it's over over staffing. haha.

point 3 --> isn't this supposed to reflect in your payslip? do you even check? or did you just check after 6 months with the company? mine are reflecting on the payslip & in SSS records.

point 4 --> if you were to generalize all managers, this statement is not true. There are managers who do their best to address concerns and not simply "turn a blind eye". Some (not all) managers even get pounded because they fight for their people. there are, however, some kiss-###, power tripping managers/ams.

point 5 --> this i am not sure.

point 6 --> the company just turned 2 in march here in the philippines. this post was written in january. proof that this is exaggeration. one thing i know is that a certain group of people wanted the old concessionaire out because they wanted their relatives' catering business to be the company's concessionaire. Another is that an employee was offering to supply products to the old concessionaire, which they rejected. I would say they had vested interests and personal issues, hence the pledge to replace the old concessionaire. Fact is, there are more instances of food poisoning now. They've been here a little over 3 months and the number of food poisoning incidents already exceeded the total food poisoning incidents of the previous & so-called 2 year concessionaire.

point 7 is true.

point 8 --> it's not government mandated that the company must release salaries on a friday if payday falls on a weekend. As long as they pay on or before the 15th and last day of the month, then it does not violate any labor laws. paying your personal bills is not the company's problem. there are so many other payment options nowadays -- online banking, phone banking, you can even pay your bills at 711 which is open 24/7. you're just giving yourself problems. bank transactions are never an excuse. blame your bank if they don't have these services.

point 9 is true, sad to say.

point 10 --> don't count on their promises. just go to work, do your job, and that's it. did you join the company just to listen and believe everything they promise? if it's in writing, believe it. if not, don't.

point 11 is also true. why not try a Filipino site director? culture gaps can mean big problems.

point 12 may be true. i haven't really done my research, but i've heard a lot. i just don't know which ones are true and which ones aren't.

point 13 i also felt that way at first. if you check sss online, they really don't update the payments after each monthly payment. the last i checked, they updated quarterly. i've never had problems with sss payments for more than a year now.

point 14 i don't remember seeing an ad stating that exl has dental benefits. can you post the link to that online ad please? aren't you supposed to know your coverage on your first week? if that's too important to you, look for another job that offers that. I know a company who has all that (medical, dental, optical, etc.), but offers 12k basic whether you're experienced or not. beat that!

i suggest that you back up your issues with solid proof. without proof, it just seems that you're badmouthing the company. it's not impossible that the posters who totally agree with you are just your friends supporting you. i'm not saying it's wrong. i'm just saying that it does not prove anything.

there's no such thing as a perfect company. if it existed, it'll be the only company existing now.

I can definitely attest that they usually give a much higher salary to indian nationals.and that those so called "Operations Managers" are much of a power tripper.it should've been given to a Filipino.they're more of a bossy type of interviewer and that they don't do it in a professional way.I've just experience with no intention of bad mouthing EXL.the operations manager is an indian national who conducted my final interview and that i've noticed before that most of the agents are pretty girls and that guys are a rare sight in the center.and so, then comes the interview this indian conducted the interview in a brief manner and that obviously, the result is that i failed the interview. most of these indians are sex maniacs and that they simply choose the ugly guys to get to that center and of course beautiful white complexioned ladies.I just hope that EXL change the way they run the company here in the Philippines. If the reason behind all of these is an Inidan Site Director that might be teh case there.Indians are notorious in all of these craps and that the main of office of EXL should know.how would that be if all the operations managers are indians there must be an indian who holds a higher office in that center.

very true! even so the clients from the US have heard about these complaints, they have not done anything about this yet. In my process, there are multiple OM's for which there are only less than 80 agents. Wrong people get promoted. Upper management doesn't have people talent and they need to undergo management 101. No organizational structure followed. Tax payables were "emailed", not printed, acknowledged. We were only notified on the day it will be subtracted from our pay. No one ever cared to explain why you are payable!
They like giving out your salary 5am the following day. When in fact it should be given the business day preceding the payout date of payday falls on a weekend or a holiday. So if the pay date falls on a saturday, you can only withdraw your salary, saturday 5am.

Definitely not a company to recommend to job seekers!
