I contacted Dr. Panahpour on Feb 8th as a zirconian cap he put in just 8 years ago pop off of my back molar. I had spent thousands of dollars getting a few of those put in as he told me they last forever (i remember him telling me i had a lifetime warranty which he says he did not tell me) and are non reactive - inert material.

When I contacted him feb 8th, 2014 he told me he did not have an opening until Feb 20th! I was and am experiencing hot and cold discomfort and i told him i was leaving for vacation. I did not confirm the feb 20th offer as i had a horrible experience travelling right after dental care in the past and did not want to open myself up to that again.

So today (march 5th) i contacted him and told him how disappointed i was that he did not get me in sooner, especially when i asked about a back up doctor because he made a point of telling me that he could not get me in earlier because he was working out of santa monica and seattle. He told me that the back up doctor was for ER - instead he figured it was okay for me to experience discomfort for nearly 2 weeks. This demonstrates a practitioner who really doesn't care about his patients. I am a practitioner and would never allow a patient of mine to experience discomfort for nearly two weeks before getting them in for a solution.

I contacted him today as i am returning from vacation and wanted to get a head start on an appt for the hole in the back of my mouth - a simple re cementing. Instead of making an appt, he threatened me with his lawyer (i told him if i did not handle this appropriately i would file a complaint with the ADA and file an online complaint) attempting to intimidate me which is entirely illegal. He also told me he was scratching me from his patient list because i was threatening to take action if he did not handle things appropriately this time around.

So that was his response -instead of making an appt shortly after the 10th when i was to be back home he attempted intimidation with his lawyer. Well, thank goodness i have every right to file a complaint with the ADA and tell my story online. I have emails to back up every word of this.

I know he has moved a lot - from Beverly Hills to Santa Ana and now he is in Santa Monica and Seattle. Moving sure does make it easy to not have to provide follow up work on things that go wrong with your original work.

I strongly suggest anyone looking for a biological dentist continue looking. I paid thousands of dollars out of pocket for the work he did on a few teeth and he doesn't have the integrity nor ethics to act promptly when a patient is in need. He also moves around too much. Who knows where he'll be next year.

Thus far (now nearly two weeks later) he has also refused to provide me his license number causing more time to look him up with the ADA. This is also not consistent with the law nor professional.

In the 4th paragraph above i typed "if I did not handle this appropriately" - I obviously meant if "he" did not.

I've also looked him up online and he has numerous complaints and very poor healthgrade ratings. There are much better dentists out there.

wow... the more i research Dr. Panahpour, the uglier it gets: http://www.casewatch.org/mal/pana/morschladt_complaint.pdf . In this casewatch (actual court papers) he is accused of incompetence, gross negligence, repeated acts of gross negligence; false fraudulent or misleading statements, and unprofessional conduct...

I could spend all day reporting the complaints about Dr. Panahpour!

All this and he still doesn't take care of his patients appropriately when they need rework from his original work. Forgot to mention above, the zirconian on my right back side has chipped half way off. And he doesn't even bother to get me in promptly to releive me of this very inconvenient and sometimes painful situation!

Off to find a good dentist in Santa Monica! He did me a favor by scratching me off his patient list for excercising my right to file a complaint with the ADA and tell my story online! He could have easily avoided this by simply doing what any right minded and ethical dentist would do... spend a half hour with a day or two to re-cement the crown!

march 31st - my SECOND request for my records as I have now found a biological dentist to work with got this response from him: good moorning, my next visit to California will be the end, of april..which time I will look for ur chart..also, how many times did u see me in IRVINE office?please advise..

AS YOU CAN SEE HE OPERATES THE WAY HE WANTS TO WITHOUT ANY CONCERN FOR THE PATIENT OR ALLEGIANCE TO STANDARDS OF CARE SUCH AS SUBMITTING DENTAL HEALTH RECORDS WHEN A PATIENT ASKS FOR THEM ON A TIMELY BASES. MY NEW DENTIST WANTS THESE BEFORE CONTINUING THE WORK I NEED TO HAVE DONE FIXING THE CAP THAT POPPED OFF THAT DR. PANAHPOUR PUT ON! AS WELL AS A LOT OF OTHER WORK I NEED DONE. THIS GUY IS SERIOUSLY DEFICIENT! NO WONDER HE'S HAD SOOO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CDA AND IN COURT!

He is skilled, but also limited and not open minded. He is also negligent, abusive and unprofessional.

Wow this person "Shimmers101" is obviously needs to get checked for issues outside of dentistry. No one can help you with your head issues.

The merit of this poster is rather non-existent. Not only was this posted on another site, word for word, as a blatant attempt to simply discredit the dentist but it is lamely contrived. It refers to a bad health grade review which is most likely a reference to it's own review considering this review above was posted on more than one site. The complaint above charges the dentist with supposed "lateness" in creating an appointment, which for one does take into consideration the limits of a small pratice with a very busy single dentist but completely ignores that this dentist is flying in-between two locations to take care of other patients who have patiently waited for a weeks or longer to see the dentist. Not only, it was obviously irresponsible of the patient in this case to not follow up with the dentist after we offered you a new appointment, when you didn't even respond for a whole month. The fact that you wait so long makes this seem like the discomfort you had with your tooth was not an emergy but that you were impatient. Also, if you are not aware, dentists and doctors are often threatened with lawsuits, so it's kind of natural for this dentist to respond this way. It sounds like you both were not willing to meet each other half way as opposed to one person being completely out of line. I agree with the comment above, that Panahpour is highly skilled, and you may have caught him in an especially stressful time in his life. He is one of the most professional dentists I've ever been to. None of this sounds like him honest, sorry to hear about your experience. I hope you found the dentist you were looking for because often clashing personalities are the cause of so many issues.

First off, I want to say that we drove from a different state to see Dr. Panahpour, it is next to impossible to find a .specialized dentist, like Dr. Panahpour he is highly skilled, and very knowledgeable I thought he was amazing and did a good job. I think traveling between two offices in different states, could put a strain on anyone's practice especially when he is the lone dentist. I have a regular dentist where I live, there are two dentists in the practice when my dentist cannot see me, his partner will see me, and if they both happened to be out, they have another dentist that will see you in the area . What I have learned is there many different types of biological dentists, and finding the right fit like anything takes time. I saw five biological dentists before finding the right fit. Anyhow, for me Dr. Panahpour got the job done, and did it right . I'm thankful to him.
