This company is another one of those credit card companies that thinks that they can squeeze blood from a turnip. We have been trying to pay these people every single month and calling them and working with them and still they charge our credit card fees that surpass the amount of money that we pay.

This creates a never-ending debt that can never be repaid that they hope to be charging us for forever. They refuse to work with us and they simply demand money that we just don't have. We are sorry that we got into debt, but we are like a lot of people who did that.

We don't have any active credit accounts anymore and we are paying off $7,500 in debt at the rate of $293 per month. At that rate, the debt will be paid in a little over two years. I think that we are working as hard as we possibly can to get out of debt, but this company, unlike the other 14 creditors on our debt management plan, refuses to accept payments, keeps the size of the debt going up and plans on taking the next step of suing us.

Thing is, we beg food from the church every month now and there is nothing for them to get from suing us. No judge on the planet will force us to beg more food from the church every month and that is what these people think they are going to get one to do. Good luck with that, Credit One.

These people are [censor]. Record every call you have with them. When they make harassing collection calls, record them and report them on the FTC online site. Read up on something called the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act of 1977. If you can record some of their harassing calls, they could owe YOU money.

I had a Credit One account for a while, it was practically impossible to talk to a real person and they kept raising the amount of fees and finance charges so often that I finally decided to close the account and pay it off. You should try to pay more than the minimum due every month, but if that is not possible and the company refuses to work with the proposal from the credit counseling company, you should just file for bankruptcy or stop paying them, they will settle for much less than you owe. Providing food and shelter for your family is more important than trying to satisfy this company's demands. You will not be able to reduce your debt if you continue paying only the minimum due every month and it will take years before you can see that balance go down.

Credit one, I would like to thank u for adding all the late charges etc, which caused my balance to be almost $1000.00 when in reality I had $400.00 to the plus, folks do not fall for this u will be screwed without a kiss. U will never see 1 penny of that due to the fact i'm now totally disabled and u can't squeeze blood from a turnip. Also, I 'm moving so I will not have to put up with ur lying e-mails or your mail period. Good luck folks u will need it. Cap One u caused this on yourself as I read more of the complaints it sounds like they are getting same statement

Credit One Bank is making plenty of money off of people trying to re-establish credit. Making a min. payment puts more money in Credit One's pocket..Iasked if they could lower the intrest rate..they said no..but tried to give me a line increase - how crazy is that...I told the customer service rep. why would you offer a line increase when I am having a hard time paying the current line of credit..wow.
I am determined to get this card under control..overall they have not been that bad but I would not suggest them to anyone else.

THIS COMPANY SUCKS I PAID OFF MY BILL AND THEN CLOSED MY ACCOUNT ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND JUST RECEIVED A BILL STATING I OWE 8.25 FOR THE ANNUAL FEE AND IF I DON'T PAY ON TIME I WILL RECEIVE A 35.00 DOLLAR LATE FEE. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE IN THE PROCESS OF PURCHASING A HOME AND I DON'T WANT THIS TO SHOW UP ON OUR CREDIT REPORT SHOWING NON-PAYMENT. I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH CARD BUT THEY WILL NOT GO AWAY.
I REPORTED THEM TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU I SUGGEST YOU ALL DO THE SAME THING MAYBE IF THERE ARE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS ON THIS COMPANY SOMETHING WILL BE DONE ABOUT IT. THEY ARE RIPPING OFF ALOT OF HARD WORKING PEOPLE...

My name is Charles A. Darby I just got from the war overseas and applied for a capital one credit card and was approved And when I received the card on the first day I went to use the card and was placed in the fraud department for no reason and when I called them about the problem I was told all types of storys and when your story is inconsistent theres something wrong, nobody could tell me what happend that day, at the end of all of this I was in the market and tryed to use the card and was almost charged with fraud in the supermarket because of there bull. I would for people to know that capital one itself is a fraudulent company itself be careful if you decide to deal with them if we all took this stand they could survive as a company, because there is more power in numbers.

These guys continue to call my number up to 3 times a day! Here's the kicker: I dont have a credit card with them! I have tried numerous times now to contact them directly, and ask them to stop calling my number, but all I get is automated service. I'll be damned if I am going to give them my S.S. number.. I have their address, and I live in Tahoe NV. I am considering driving down to their corp office in Vegas, and slapping them with a harrassment suit! I have a credit card, it is through my bank, have had it for nearly 10 years now. So I am not supried to hear you all having these terrible experiences with this company. If you would like to join the bandwagon of the suit I am fixing to slap on them, feel free to contact me. Max_n_me_2003@yahoo.com

well. i monitor this card closely - i got into the credit dumps due to divorce. the card is helping me, but i do this basic plan with the card and it is working and things have been more than improved for my situation - i budget what I will call cyclic life expenses and use the card to pay for gas, lunch etc...these expenses are costs of living. I do not charge the card up, little here little there. makeing timely payments is key and i never let the card stack up any balance. its paid in ful on a monthly basis. this card involves additional dicipline. i check the balance twice a week over the phone, do not let myself over charge and am very diligent about confirming the reciept of payments. THis card if used very carefully is a good card to have, but if you lack discipline, cannot make payments on time and dont priorities working harder on managing the account - then you will be in trouble and it seems like the company is not easy to work with once you get upside down.
i am not here to preach. but i think that it is fair to say that life hs its twists and turns, i used to have extremely good credit, everything was fine then divorce, then a down economy - but life continues.
I will say this, if any of you get to where you have to close accounts with balances on them - that is the worst thing that you can do and that dings a credit report in a vicious manner. due to the divorse i closed all my accounts with balances. i got stuck while in a weeknd state and should have kept everything open, i went from having a debt to credit ratio, but i made a misake closed all the accounts and then just had debt. no ratio and then the fico scores tanked. it took me a long time to get things paid off but take it from a person who is responsible, but had a rough time in life - never close your credit cards with balances never just pay them off that is the best thing anyone can do just pay them off and stay clear of minimum payments well i hope this helps again be vigilient with the card and if you are you will be ok, dont spend on things that you cant afford and use this card very wisely - it does help and it has helped me, but this board also helped me make sure that i stay on top of it.

My husband and I got this card as a means to build our credit. Due to some financial reasons, we had to charge some tires to the card. This "maxed" out the 300 right off the bat, which we fully intend to pay. We supposedly got the 0% APR card for 6 months.

We were late by 1 day, and were charged $64 in fees right off the bat. We paid the $25.00 and figured we would pay $75 the following month to bring it down past the limit and then some. Well...

We have made $50.67 so far and the balance is now $300.00. Our due date is 7/5, so we have another 2 weeks to pay the additional $25.00 we anticipated to pay. But guess what? Like clockwork, at 7:28 pm PST, we get a call from them. EVERY DAY. We haven't missed a payment at all, paid multiple times this month. Yet they KEEP CALLING. I don't intend to "jip" them, I am just getting tired of the incessant phone calls every damn day. I am on the verge of contacting the AG in CA because this is getting ridiculous now. It's borderline harassment. IF WE ARE PAYING YOU, AND HAVE PAID YOU 2 TIMES IN A SINGLE MONTH, PAID THE "MINIMUM" AND THEN SOME, WHY ARE YOU STILL BUGGING US?

look i have had this card for a couple of months now and managed to change my payment date with no problem. i changed it just in case i ever needed extra time. i still make payments way before the due date. i did notice little fees here and there but not more than ten dollars, upon reading the negative feedback i see that the majority are people who maxed out the card and are facing financial hardship. and cannot pay back the money owed. which it is unfortunate and can happen to anyone. however there is that outside company that offered credit protection once you signed up, in case you lose your job or financial troubles etc.etc. yes there is a fee. but hey in the event that happens that is what covers you. not credit one bank. they clearly say that the protection is offered by an outside company not affiliated with credit one. so when your debt consolidators try to arrange a partial payment or whatever. credit one bank cannot do that. they gave you money to use, which you had no complaints with credit one when you swiped your card and it said APPROVED.. every time until you reached the limit. and never opted for the protection plan. now those same people who cannot pay up what they spent and did not sign up for protection because they had that it won't happen to me and i'm not paying extra attitude OR LIKE ME SAID WHATEVER.. are bad mouthing this card. you should test it out first buy something small ..see the fee..pay it off.. and if your not happy''pay what you owe..and read card cancellation terms..and do it right. they cannot bill or charge on a closed account with 0 balance. i'm not taking sides i'm just saying that thus far i have had no problems and if i do i will pay and close it. i do agree that there customer service peeps are a bunch of no knowledge language barrier rude and ignorant individuals! but hey get what you need taken care of..hang up! and vent by cursing them out nice and loud..have a smoke or a drink or a snack... then go about your business ! F.Y.I... SOME GENERAL INFO ON THE SUBJECT OF CREDIT CARD COMPANIES...NEVER PAY WITH A DEBIT ACCOUNT. JUST GET A MONEY ORDER. ON ANYTHING THAT YOUR PAYING OFF. YOU NEVER WANT TO GIVE COMPANIES ACCESS TO JUST TAKE MONEY FROM YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. BECAUSE YOU HAVE DIRECT DEPOSIT OR A SAVINGS. BECAUSE THEY WILL WIPE YOU OUT OR FREEZE UR ACCOUNT. DIRECT DEPOSIT NO GOOD..GET YOUR MONEY IN UR HANDS..CASH IT HOWEVER WHEREVER.. THEN DISPERSE. LEAVE SOME IN THE BANK AND A STASH AT HOME.

I don't agree with some of the policy Credit One Bank has, normally when something goes bad its my fault for going over the credit limit, or a late payment. When they contact me they are very polite to me guess I'm just lucky.

I owe Credit One $400 and can't comprehend anyone charging over $7, 000! Credit cards should be for emergency use not a way of life. I have paid every payment on time for 29 months with the exception of one payment was late while I was hospitalized. Immediately a negative report was sent to the Credit Bureau where it will probably remain for 7 years.

The only thing you can do with these credit companies is pay them off and not use credit cards like it's free money. I was hoping to better establish my credit rating with this card but instead it has hurt my credit over one late payment. They just increased my available credit $100. I would rather they gave me a better report at the Credit Bureau and kept that $100 increase. I won't be needing it.

Just got it myself, I plan on using it what it's for, to build credit. I know it's expensive. If you have bad credit and want to build it, you have to pay. I plan on minimal use of the card, paying the 5.95 payment fee, the 75 yearly fee and anything else they throw my way for about a year. Then I close. Hopefully, this will have helped my score some, so I can get a REAL card.

fees and charges:
--well credit one bank is catering for the subprime market. meaning they are giving credit cards to those people who has not so good credit rating. that is the reason behind their high interest rate. with regards to the fees.. u can actually read that from the letter that was sent with the credit card and before activating ur card the customer service people will again read the terms and conditions.

all i can say is that these complaints came from being irresponsible in handling ur bills. there are lot of lame excuses when ur indebt. and the most common is the bill.

if ur a responsible cardholder then u must be bothered if u didnt receive any bill in a month.

I agreed to their initial terms and fees as well, HOWEVER, they increase them without notice... and on a CLOSED account! My closed account "maintenance fee" more than doubled on January 1st! They shouldn't be able to do that. It's NOT the terms I agreed to when I signed up with them.

Psychopaths who use the law, money and their marketing prowess to "stick-it" to the rest of us.

Please understand that, this is a " satanic" operation, which is intentionally designed with the purpose of destroying lives, breaking up marriages, causing grief or depression and if possible bring about suicide. When I received their notice in the mail and looked over the interest rates and various charges--I recognized a pattern, including the logo, of that hellish Capital One Bank (I don't know if there is a connection) and warning lights went off. They have the same modus operandi.

In short like a Tarantula spider, this company and others like them attract, trap and destroy those who try to improve their quality of life through improved credit so they may have something to fall back on in emergencies or just have available credit like everyone else.

I know from my own experience, that this is why so many inner city non-whites have been locked in never ending struggle, seldom advancing in life--with constant victimization from many sources--only now it's happing to everyone.

The continuations of satanic operations or companies like this are one of the major reasons this country is being destroyed and may come to it's final economic destruction.

Those who have the power and position are taking advantage of and devouring others. This includes not only government (at many levels) but also corporations, businesses, organizations (to whom we seek help from) and individual criminals.

This is the way of most empires; they rot from the inside out. God hates and unjust scale.

I was trying to rebuilt my credit after getting laid off and figured this might be the start I needed. WRONG! I didn't even activate my card yet and come home to a bill in the mail. I knew there was a 69.00 application fee which I chalked up to my seriously bad credit but thought I needed to jump start my credit.

I was quite surprised to see another fee for an additional 69.00 being split out in 12 month payments!

When I called, I was told there was an activation fee of 69.00 as well as an application of 69.00! No where in the paper work was this listed! And how conviently they spread this new fee out for me with their nice 22% interest rate!

I canceled the card all the while the woman on the phone tried to convince me this was the best way for me to rebuild my credit. Thanks, but No thanks.

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Get a secured credit card and go from there. A company that bills you for a service when you didn't even activate the credit card - BAD NEWS!

Stay away from the CreditOne card, far away. There are many other cards for bad credit that do not have poor customer service and outrageous fees. I'm sorry, but there is NO justification for charging someone $9.95 to make an online payment. It costs less than .50 to process an electronic payment, sometimes much less. It also saves them time and money processing paper payments. You're doing THEM a favor by paying electronically. And it doesn't take 7-10 days to receive a first class letter unless you live in bum@#@ Egypt. As for those @#@3! who parrot "Just pay your bills, " I have no doubt they either work for CreditOne or a collection agency. They troll these sorts of boards frequently.

I suggest two things if you're looking for a credit rebuilder card: 1) CreditBoards.com - an invaluable resource and 2) CreditKarma

And don't let these ###s get you down.

Good luck!

YOU WILL GET ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE WITH COLLECT AMERICA, BELIEVE ME! THIS IS THE COMPANY THAT BOUGHT THE DEBT FROM CREDIT ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE AND IS HOPING TO DRAIN EVERY DIME THEY CAN FROM YOU. CREDIT ONE HAS ALREADY WRITTEN YOU OFF.

PLEASE CONTACT YOUR STATE'S ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE, CONSUMER PROTECTION DIVISION. CALL OR WRITE AND FILE A COMPLAINT. THEY ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO WILL HELP, AND THEY ARE MORE THAN WILLING TO DO IT! I KNOW, I CONTACTED THEM IN MY STATE AND WITHIN THREE WEEKS, THEY INVESTIGATED MY CLAIM, FOUND THAT THERE WAS "NOTHING VERIFIABLE", (SOMETHING I HAD BEEN TRYING TO PROVE MYSELF FOR MONTHS), AND THEY GOT THEM OFF MY CREDIT REPORTS!

THESE SO-CALLED "DEBT COLLECTORS" ARE NOTHING MORE THAN PREDATORS HOPING TO SCARE VULNERABLE PEOPLE INTO PAYING THEM BY THERE HARRASSING SCARE TACTICS. CALL YOUR ATT. GEN.'S OFFICE FOR HELP AND MAKE THEM STOP!

I have tried to make payments on multiple occasions through the website and while going through their horrid customer service line. I have even called and canceled my credit card about one month ago. It is still active and none of my payments have gone through to my bank account. I really do not know what I should do about this.

It's not as if I do not have the money to pay, I would gladly pay off the balance right this moment, it's just trying to get through to them to make the payments to begin with and then them actually taking the money through you.

I can see now why these people have bad credit, no one wants to read the fine print and take responsibility. Having a credit card is a huge responsibility.
I have had fraudulent charges on my credit card several times and have had them removed, yes it is a headache and takes time to deal with -The charges are not going to go away on their own by ignoring them.Keeping you credit and good name in order takes time and effort!

Credit One is one of the worst credit card companies. They really don't work with their customers. They are a good example of how credit card companies have ruined a tradition of lending by taking advantage of borrowers. Rest assured though that they will "get theirs" when they crash and burn after there are no more funds for a government bailout.

I've had a card with them for 8 months and I haven't had any problems. Yeah you have to pay all of the fees but that's to be expected with this type of card. If you don't want to pay the fee to pay your bill use bill pay through your online banking. I can make a payment through my BoA online banking and my payment posts to Credit One the next business day. They have helped me improve my credit rating, thank you Credit One.

My account was charged off by Credit One Bank in April 2009. I received statement in mail from Credit One showing due date for May 2009. Account was paid in full about 10 days ahead of due date. Credit One sent my account to collection agency Hilco Receivable as charge off, they did send payment to Hilco receivable so Hilco receivable can clear their books. I spoke to Mia at Hilco Receivables who confirm with Credit One that payment was made. Meanwhile, item is still showing up on my credit report as unpaid by Credit One and Hilco Receivables. The collection agency said they cant remove item until credit on pays them. This has been going on for about 3 months.

I recently got a call from this Credit One Bank saying I owed money. I have never opened an account with this bank. EVER, we do not own or use credit cards. Never have. I finally talked to someone else with credit one and asked them to prove to me that I used this card, send me a detailed list of charges, they told me there were never any charges. That the card was activated and then never used but because it was activated now we are responsible for finance charges and of course late fees, etc. WHAT? How is this possible.

Credit One Bank is run by a bunch of sleezy people. They first try to charge you 7 bucks just to pay your bill online. If you try to mail in your payment they will intentionally hold the payment until you qualify for a late charge. I mailed two payments to credit card companies the same day. I live in California the bill to my credit card in Deleware was received in two days. Credit One bank which billing address was in the same state as I was California(they used to be in Nevada) wasn't processed until six business days after I mailed it a day after my bill was due. They charged me a late fee.

This company is nothing more than a bunch of corporate thieves. I paid my bill on time but as usual they sit and wait to process the payment in order to charge me late fees. After calling up and having to complain and talk to some foreigner who shouldnt be working in customer service because they cant grasp basic english, they finally admitted my negative account balance was a mistake on their part and my account would be back to normal within 24 hours and put me back on the positive side with available credit...but guess what 48 hrs have passed and im now $17 more dollars in the hole...what do they charge you finace charges and hidden fees daily now?

Not to mention now i have their "collections department" calling my phone all day every day from 8am til 11 at night, even after talking to the GED having ###s and clearing things up they still call every 30 minutes, so now im about to charge them with harassment.

No to mention i've already proceeded to file a complaint with the BBB as well as my States Attorney General and Nevada's Attorney Genereal.Im also looking into to reporting this company to the F.B.I as well. Wouldnt be the first time these clowns have been investigated or sued, last time they were ordered to pay back millions to customers they ripped off. They use to be known as "First National Bank Of Marin" go look on the BBC website, they have a terrible rating with them and over 300 complaints filed on them in less than 2 years.

For anyone wanting a physical address to contact them instead of dealing with Middle Eastern people on the phone or P.O Box's... here's Credit One's actual information (takin straight from the BBB's website)

I closed my account with Credit One Bank over the phone, using my Debit card. Three months later I realized my credit score had been adversly affected by a chare of $7 fees plus late paymens that I did not know about. The charge was for closing the account but they didn't bother charging my Bank. Now if I wanted to pay tha $7 on the phone, would I get another charge of $7 an on and on and on? I tried to explain this to a semi ###ed customer service who just couldn't understand what was going on.

She said I owe the $7 because I paid by mail, I told her there is no $7 charge if you pay by mail, obviously I used my Debit Card, she said Oh, then you probably didn't make the $7 payment on your debit card when you closed the account. I said the genius, why would you process the payment.

Unethical bank, I'll take this to BBB

Hey Sean-Who-Works-At-Credit-One-Bank...It is my opinion that your employer is in business to rip consumers off. Just like another comment above says: Life happens. Mine was a divorce that resulted in my filing bankruptcy. My Credit One Bank credit card account was discharged, however, Credit One continually calls me, bills me, sends me threatening letters, and turns the account over to various collection agencies (who happen to be affiliated with Credit One Bank). And I only owed less than $300. I have documented phone calls and copies of letters with court documents sent countless times to countless entities proving I no longer owe the debt. But Credit One, and its affiliates, turn a deaf ear and Credit One Bank continues to attempt to collect the account. THIS IS ILLEGAL. This action is in violation of U.S. Bankruptcy laws. And, because of Credit One Bank's flagrant disregard for those laws, I have legal recourse to pursue action through federal courts against Credit One Bank. And guess what Sean-Who-Works-For-Credit-One-Bank? That is exactly what has begun. Oh, you might want to help your employer stay in business during these times with the financially-troubled market (and, hence, you'll be able to keep your "wonderful" job), by recommending Credit One Bank begin COMPLYING with the orders that have been issued by the court, instead of IGNORING them!

I have had a few occasions where I needed to talk to their customer service reps and they have been rude and inconsiderate of my situation. I've even noticed that when it comes to questions regarding billing and payments or FEES...They laugh into the phone with a chuckle or sigh as if they are making me some kind of "private" inside joke. I'm sure I make more per hour than any of them will ever acheive in their low life careers yet they make their so-called "Customers" feel like we are way beneath their time and trouble when we call for assistance with our cards. These people are truly vultures in every sense of the word, they work for a company that encourages them to lie, cheat, steal, manipulate and harass people into giving them our sensitive data and money in order for their scam to go on.
STOP PAYING THEM, just stop. They are ruining our scores and making us pay them to get richer. Stop paying them even if it means losing a few points on our own scores. We can always write the credit scoring agencies and tell them how we got into trouble by using these fake companies, we can always add credit file disputes, but we can never get out of the way if we keep dealing with predators like these.

my complaint is Credit one Bank is charging me $200.00 for cutting up my credit card and sending it back to them with a final payment, and closing my account. They say it cost them $150 to make each card, that is the printing and the plastic card itself.
