It's been a whole decade since I signed on the dotted line with Chipmunka Publishing. Can you believe it? August 29th marks the glorious tenth anniversary of Amsterdamned by David Williams. This gem of a book initially hit the shelves at a reasonable ?12.00 for the paperback edition, but now you can find it online for a slightly steeper ?14.00.

Now, let me tell you, this book received some pretty decent reviews. People seemed to dig it. But here's the kicker: in all these ten long years, I haven't seen a single shiny penny in royalties. Not one! And to make matters worse, I have absolutely no clue how many copies of my masterpiece have actually been sold. I tried reaching out to those Chipmunka folks to get some answers, but guess what? No reply. Zilch. Nada. And just to add insult to injury, they've gone ahead and blocked me on Twitter. Can you believe the audacity?

Now, let's get real for a moment. Amsterdamned is not your run-of-the-mill book. Oh no, it's a raw and painful account of my life during a dark period when I found myself locked up in the Netherlands due to a drug-induced psychosis. Every word, every action, it's all there, laid bare for the world to see. And let me tell you, I was speaking nothing but the truth then, and I'm still speaking it now.

But here's what really gets my goat. If someone out there is making a pretty penny off the struggles and emotional distress of individuals who have battled mental illness, then we've got a serious problem. I mean, come on! These people were just grateful that someone thought their stories were worth sharing, and now it seems like someone's taking advantage of them. And let's not forget about the whole writer-publisher contract situation. It's like they don't even want us to have a say or question anything. It's downright unfair, if you ask me.

So, my dear readers, I can only muster up one measly star for this whole enterprise. Trust me, if I could give it a no-star rating, I would. But alas, that's not an option. Consider this a warning, my fellow writers. Beware of Chipmunka Publishing. They may not have your best interests at heart.
