I was an owner of the Odyssey Vacation package where I financed my vacation basically a try it before you buy it full package. I was informed that I had 18 months to take my vacation from the time the package was paid in full. When I called to book my vacation, the idiots informed me that I had to take my vacation before 9/2015. So I waited a little while to call back since I had some time left. I called back 12/15/2014 and they advised I had to take the trip before 9/2014 (wasn’t not 18 months after paid in full more like 8 months) So I guess I just gave the fools almost $1000 just because!!!...

Festiva Resorts - Fraud - out right lie!

I just dealt with what I believe may have been a fraudulent phone call. The person selling me the "deal" offered a 4 day 3 night stay at any of your resorts PLUS a "bonus" 4 day, 3 night cruise or could be used the same as the first at any of your resorts. All for $159 (originally quoted $199) with no tour since I had done the tour in a previous stay. I asked many questions & was initially told that each package was for 5 people & could be used at any time. I gave my credit card info & was transferred to the verification dept where I was then told that each package was for 2 adults & 2 children....

Festiva Resorts - South Carolina, Surfside Beach - special assessment

Special assessment charged in 2012 of $1200, this years special assessment is $2000. the company has spent nothing to upgrade the facility. Have owned there for over 20 years, since festiva fees have become excessive. I believe they are trying to drive us out. The money we have paid to fix the facility has gone elsewhere. the company did not conduct due diligence when hiring a contractor and supposedly lost all funds paid to this contractor. I believe Festiva needs to go. I am willing to commence a class action suit to make this happen. Any one else?...

Festiva Resorts - South Carolina, Charleston - Completely ripped off

A few years back while visiting our children in Charleston, we were approached on the street and were hoodwinked into buying into the system It sounded like such a great deal since we were interested in travel and planned to do much. After the first year of trying to get a reservation any where in any state for any week, we gave up and now are stuck with a worthless contract that we keep paying higher and higher fees each year. What a big loss of money from the start that continues each year. We have learned a painful expensive lesson. Please do NOT buy into this company. It is a rip off and you...

Festiva Resorts - Ripoffs Property Owners

I am very disturbed and angry how Festiva treats its owners. I have been a platinum owner at Paradise Harbour Club & Marina since 1992. Prior to Festiva taking over this property I never had any problems with securing time at the resort to deposit or exchange. However, since Festiva has taken over this resort, the maintenance and special assessment fees are outrages and the harassment to an owner to pay these fees is to say the least irritating. But what has sent me over the top is after paying these outrages fees to not be able to secure a time at the resort so that I can deposit my time in RCI....

Festiva Resorts - North Carolina, Mount Olive - Owners, be wary!

This is a follow-up to my complaint of last week, indicating that I was a Thoroughly Disgusted Owner. I am somewhat calmer this week after having received a call from their office, so I'll change my byline from Thoroughly Disgusted to Permanently Wary. Not surprisingly, they were able to accommodate me on the dates I wanted after I submitted my complaint. Whether this was done to appease me or not, the fact remains that now, suddenly, they were able to "find" a unit for me. Of course, I was told this was an exception and not the norm (and I should be grateful). I still stand by my previous...

Festiva Resorts - North Carolina - A THOROUGHLY disgusted owner

I sent the following letter to the Festiva Board of Directors today:

To whomever is listening (or pretending to be),

We have been owners since 1990. First through Peppertree, then Fairfield, then Wyndham, then Equivest and now the greatest curse of all -- Festiva. Do I sound disgusted??? You have no idea.

We switched from the fixed-week plan to the points plan when the company was sold to Equivest. We thought this would allow us the flexibility to take vacation time at our convenience and not when it was dictated by our fixed plan. We even bought additional...

Festiva Resorts - Missouri, Branson - Rip-off

Festiva Resorts sold Stormy Point Village in Branson Missouri to Summer Winds Resorts - February 2011. Today, I was told that about 3000 owners didn't convert to Festiva Adventure Club per Summer Winds Resort customer service. I'd read other complaints and I see some people were asked to pay additional $5K to join to elite group (Festiva Adventure Club). I know I was told that I'd have to pay $20K last year when I visited in September 2010. Maybe they bumped up the price because I'm African American. Well I'm sure everyone has heard that we can only go the Summer Winds Resorts...

Festiva Resorts - Horrible

Do not buy a timeshare at all, but if you do, don't buy it from Festiva. You will be locked into an iron-clad deed just like owning a house - and you can't just get out of it. You can't sell it, and you will leave the debt to your children when you pass. It doesn't go away. All around it is a bad deal. You can travel just about anywhere every year for the price (less really) of what you end up paying between your mortgage and your fees for the next 30 years. You can go to any travel website and book someone else's unused timeshare for a week for 1/2 the cost of what the...

I purchased a timeshare with festiva in November of 2010 and they promised so many things that were all lies! I have yet to be able to book anything anywhere and when I go to ask another question about anything they throw more stipulations at me! This company has done nothing but lie to me from the get go and has basically stolen 10, 000 dollars from my husband and I because we havent been remotely close to being able to make use of this waste of money and we wont be able to because of there stipulations. I am looking for a great lawyer so if you know of one that might can help me with a situation...

Festiva Resorts - North Carolina, Asheville - Selling assets of Stormy Points

Unfortunately we are not getting anywhere with the Festiva group/ They had sold their assets at Stormy Point in Branson Mo., to Summerwinds. Now we are told that unless we pay at least $5, 000.00 to belong to the Festiva adventure Club, we can no longer take advantage of any of their other properties. Upon contacting Summerwinds, located at Stormy Point, we are told that as we were Festiva owners, we also can Not take advantage of any of their benefits either. We are Stormy Point owners, period, . Upon contacting Festiva in Branson we requested that perhaps they could deed the Stormy Point property...

Festiva Resorts - Missouri, Branson - misleading to downright lying

My husband and I bought a timeshare from Festiva Resorts in Branson, Missori. We absolutly LOVED it. We could not go the first year so we let one of our dear friends and family(4 adults over 50) go in our place...THEY loved it. Then the next year we evacuated to Stormy Pointe Village in Branson for a hurricaine...LOVED it! While we were there the salesman wanted us to change to a point system which, of course, sounded DIVINE; we did, and the trouble started. First they paid us with 'bonus points' for our equity, which we thought was good because we wanted to go on a cruise and would need...

Festiva Resorts - South Carolina - Lies and Scams

A man called me from this company today claiming I had filled out a form in the local mall trying to win a 7 night cruise. He told me I was in the 'finals' and that I got a free gift just for having my name drawn. The gift was either $100 gift card or 4 day/night cruise. I am rather young and had never had this type of call before so I was excited. Then when he started asking for my credit card number for a $25 holding fee is when I got suspicious. I kept asking more probing questions until I found out I'd have to sit through a 90-minute presentation of them trying to sell me timeshares...

Festiva Resorts - Beware

We bought into in the late 90's and were very pleased with our timeshare. Each year we were able to use our points and take a vacation. Then received information telling us that we had been sold and sold and sold. I think we are now Equivest/Peppertree. The maintenance fees and special assessments are too high we are unable to make these payments. I believe that the Festiva company wants to suck every dime they can from us until we give up and either pay more money to them or give them our timeshare. We decided to just give up and give them our points but they will not accept it until the maintenance...

We are owners at Stormy Point, a Festiva Resort since 2006. Stormy Point has been sold to Summerwinds Resorts.

We have been told we are NO LONGER A PART OF FESTIVA Resorts, so we are no longer entitled to exchange our week at other Festiva Resorts. The only place we can use our time share is at Stormy Point. Our whole point in buying into a time share is to visit other areas of the country.

We would not have bought into Festiva if we had known this might happen. So far, Summerwinds isn't allowing us to be a full part of their family! Ugh!! We are the ugly step-children!!...

Festiva Resorts - North Carolina, Asheville - Not keeping promises

Several years ago we made the mistake of purchasing a timeshare at Stormy Point village in Branson Mo.Evidently this resort is no longer managed by Festiva, and they are now giving us a run around and are of no help in answering our questions, nor do they return our telephone calls.
Also, all the promises that were made those years ago, i.e being able to rent our week in case we cannot use it, can no longer be done, unless we join another club, for a fee of course.Another alternative now is to bank the week, and when we want to use it, there is another $159.00 fee on top of our already high...

We have owned in Banner Elk, NC, what seems like forever, then in Sept 2010, we gave in and paid an additional large sum to go to the points system. We are trying to get a week planned now for Beach area in the spring, and after several attempts, cant seem to get it locked in. They want to refer us to the Interval International, and that has not worked so far. When on vacation in 2010, our unit was HORRIBLE. They have promised to fix so much stuff in our unit, we figured we would go somewhere else for a change. I agree, they will BLEED you dry!!! I cant understand how maintenance fees go from $200...

Festiva Resorts - Purchased timeshare in Charleston with travel card that never worked

In March 2007 I purchased a Festiva timeshare in Charleston, Sc only because a special travelcard promised discount trips around the world . I gave $2300 downpayment, made 13 payments @ $312 each and 2 $500 maintenace fees in 1 year. And never was able to access travel card or website. It was under construction according to Representative from Festiva. I tried to get a refund to no avail. So I stopped payments in hope of this turning into a legal matter that would be taken into SC court. To this day I have never heard from this company, or received any refund of my $7000....

Festiva Resorts - Bad service

I am extremely upset. I was told we would be staying in one place, then we were placed in another, supposedly the same resort just a different part. It's January, cold, and my kids were looking forward to swimming in an indoor pool, however Festiva had different plans. Just wish they would have told us.

We refused the hotel and were told we could reschedule, the fee would be waived. We were still charged a fee, supposedly for not showing up, which is why we called.

If they think we are going to purchase and we are already treated like crap. No thanks! Poor customer...

We have had our timeshare with Festiva Resorts now for about 3 years. We've only used it once in South Carolina at the Church Street Inn. It was AWFUL...the room they put us up in was being renovated, smelled terrible. We complained, then they tried to put us in another room as bad if not worse than the first one. We have tried to make several attempts through Adventure Club to get resort reservations for Festiva...never happens. They always have an excuse. Also, the MAINTENANCE FEES are through the roof. Now they have tacted on additional assessment fees...THIS IS definitely taking advantage...
