Burrtec Waste Industries review: Double billing of Indio solid waste charges on property tax bill

Upon receipt of my property tax bill in October 2022, I noticed that the fee charged for waste service was extremely high compared to last year. I contacted the Riverside County assessor's office and was told to contact Burrtec directly. I contacted Burrtec via phone and e-mail on October 31, 2022 and was told that there was a glitch in their system in July 2022 and many people were double billed on their property tax bills. I was told that refunds checks would be issued on November 11, 2022, which were not. I called again on November 30th and December 5th and again was told that the refunds checks were mailed on November 30th. Again, no check. It seems to me that "the check in the mail" goes only so far. I live in a retirement community and to my knowledge, many others here were also double billed. We live on fixed incomes, and it affects us, especially with the way the economy is right now. I sent an e-mail to the mayor of Indio but have received no response. I hope that filing a complaint will result in the receipt of my overpayment check.
