Dear Taffy and Bill,
I received an email from Taffy on June 21 regarding setting up an appointment for a quote on my roof. It was not until the end of the week that CJ came out to give me a quote for our roof that had a minor leak around the skylight. That quote after a week of leaking was no problem for me because this skylight had a minor drip, and we were in no rush to repair the roof.
CJ did come out to my home on June 24, was very friendly and verbally quoted me $1200 for a ridge vent, patching around the skylight and check for any leaks around the chimney. I told him the end of the following week would be good because I wanted to be home when the work was done. He agreed that the crews would not be available until the end of the following week and that this arrangement would work out fine.
I called from my workplace on Monday, June 25th, to cancel the services on the roof only to hear from Taffy that the crews were at my home without my permission, cutting into my roof and installing a ridge vent without me being there, no contract signed-- NO PERMISSION.
I then receive a bill from Taffy for $1500. I called to rectify the bill, and you told me that the crew had run into some issues and had to do more work-- again, with no permission. You told me that you would have CJ call me back. No one from your company has spoken with me since that time. Believe me, I would have been happy to speak with someone.
In your letter to me dated July 20, 2011, you state that you did not provide services in Columbia, and it was only due to your compassion that you came out and quoted us on the roof work. I did not need your compassion. There was no rush.
Your poor business practices have put you in this situation. Your poor business practices have put me in the situation of having someone threaten to sue me over a $300 discrepancy on a bill when the work was done less than one month ago.

I would suggest not doing business with Bill Ragan Roofing, but if you do business with them, get a signed contract prior to them doing work. They will try to come up with some "verbal agreement" that you actually didn't agree to. Then, she threatens suit against you claiming she has been a paralegal for 10 years, and she has been very successful in suing people. Also, when speaking with them, site that the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act of 1977 was adopted "to protect consumers and legitimate business enterprises from those who engage in unfair or deceptive acts or practices in the conduct of any trade or commerce."

I’m Bill Ragan of Bill Ragan Roofing Company. My wife Taffy is not the one responding here. We deal with our issues face to face when given the opportunity, not over the Internet, unless we are forced to protect ourselves. The two individuals who have posted the comments above would not give me the opportunity to solve the issues they had. I left both of them my personal cell phone number so that they could reach me at any time convenient to them, but neither would return the three phone calls and messages I left for each of them. When people won’t give you the opportunity solve the problems they have, but instead cowardly leave disparaging comments on a website, I have a problem with that. If anyone has a problem with any work that my company has done, then call me personally and I will handle it. Posting lies about my company solves nothing. Amy didn’t mention that she only paid the amount that she felt comfortable with. Bellevue was quoted a price prior to the work being performed and he didn’t pay it. He sent us a check for $75 stating that if we accepted that amount, he would not file complaints or post things such as he already had. He said that his next PR project was going to be a smear campaign against my company, yet this coward would not take ANY of my phone calls. I was left with no choice but to get an attorney involved when he was threatening my company with slander. I have been in business for over 21 years. I am an honest, hardworking man that tries his very best to put out good quality work and I, along with every man that works for me, have a very strong work ethic. My business has been built solely by word of mouth and that means something to most honest hard working people like myself. If a customer of mine has a problem, call me, [protected], and I will solve it. I think of my customers as friends of mine. If I do you roof, I consider you a friend for life. “Roofers Wife” is not my wife Taffy. That was a post in February 2011. We got married in April 2011 and Taffy was not working with me at that time. I don’t know who it was that made that post, but thank you very much. Some people just want something for nothing and if they don't get it, they will scream to the world by making the posts like above. Neither wanted to pay their "quoted" bill, that's the real issue here.
