To all those looking to rent at this property, please take these comments seriously before making your decision.

I have been living here with my boyfriend and pets since July 2013. When I first saw the place, it seemed reasonably priced, clean and with courteous management. I soon discovered that this was not the case. When we moved into the unit, it was extremely filthy and many things were non-functional. For example, I went to turn on all the lights yo see if they worked and more than 70% of them were either blown bulbs or blown fuses. The toilet seat lid was broken and taped together with duct tape, and I spent half a day scrubbing miscellaneous stinky patches of goo from the fridge. I was determined to be optomistic though, and just chaulked it up to a busy season of people moving in and out of units.

The next issue I came across was the elevators and their constantly breaking down and needing repairs, sometimes for weeks at a time. While they blamed this on the elevator worker strike, I heard from others that this has been an ongoing issue for many years. Several days I had to walk up 17 flights of stairs because both elevators were out of service. This is not a horrible issue for myself, but for orhers with physical impairments and illness, it was not a very functional environment. Apparently they are going to replace both elevator cars entirely in February 2014, but I will not be holding my breath.

The worst part about the poor management here is the constant need to shut the water to the entire buildig off for 8 hrs at a time to do "repairs". It happens lime clockwork about every 2 weeks there is a day where the water needs to be turned off from 9-5. Although these times are usually posted 24hrs in advance, the management are completely inept at notifying tenants in a timely manner that the water has to be shut off for an "emergency". For instance, they shut off the water around 10 PM on a Friday night and the only notice they gave were tiny signs bu the elevators. No phone calls or even a note under the door. Just shut everything down and expect that you will be taking the elevator somewhere in your pyjamas late at night when you require water to wash your hands or brush your teeth. And they get annoyed and angry with you when you call and ask why there is no water, as if you are an all-knowing god of some sort. I would like to emphasize the fact that I have been told by many people that I am a very polite and pleasant person, even when faced with annoyances.

My last example of how awful the management is here is the day that I was sound asleep in my bed after a night-shift with another one to go to that evening, when I was awoken to the sound of a manager entering my unit, with no warning or standard 24 hr notice, or even a phone call. Thankfully, I had the chain on the door, and they could boy get very far in. When I came to the door and asked them to please leave and call me later to schedule a proper entry, they told me that it was an emergency because they had to see that my electricity was working as they were installing new meters. I politely commented that they could have done this by calling and asking me, or by notifying me that they would be requiring entry that day 24hrs in advance. I was told that situations like these do not require any notice. I was very upset as I had been both woken up abruptly and with some anxiety, and my when I complained to the head of the management group, my complaint was pushed aside quickly and was told that the building managers were in the right.

So, in conclusion, I would like everyone who may read these comments to not consider them lightly. I wish I had been warned or had found the many other complaints similar to mine prior to moving in.
