I understand that in these hard economic times, it is vital to have employment. However, in the same economic times, we must all appreciate employees, treat them fairly and not break any laws. I do like the concept of the Woodman's Markets. However, I think they could 'modernize' their way of thinking. A $2.00 limit on internet coupons? Please. This is how I am getting many of our coupons. I understand the "NO CREDIT CARDS", but when you take a debit at the register and NOT at the gas station, what's the point with that? Also, I cannot believe that their isn't any consumer protection laws on the books about expired food products. You can go into a Woodman's store on any given day and find 20 items outdated. Take it up to a manager and they put the blame on the vendor. While this may be the case, WHO is WATCHING the vendors? It SHOULDN'T be the consumers.

Did you know if you call in sick (even with a dr. excuse) you are given 'punishment' days for calling in? Did you know that if you 'self cover' with another employee wanting off and you cover and when it's your turn and they don't help, no assistance or punishment from the management? In most companies, the store will take away the ability to switch hours when you have a bad record of helping back... Did you know if you happen to be graduation that day, tough luck...get someone to work for you? What about if you are taking the SAT's...Too bad, too sad. Oh, and what about going to church? Nope. Even though we found a spot in the law that states "if attendance is required in your faith", too bad. Woodman's does not comply. SOOOO, if you are going to Sunday school, tough luck. Getting confirmed? Forget it pal. I have witnessed female management (if that's what you call it) at the OC locale, talking about employees. This is a definate no-no in business.

***BUT*** alas, I figured out why this all happens. It's called "NAPOLEON'S SYNDROME". You know, when a guy is so short, he has to have a bark worse than his bite...You know those types of people...The owner of Woodman's fits this description to a "T". Or, should I say "P"?

Update as in fast forward! This store is plagued by rude employees who chit-chat among themselves while working registers and bagging. They ignore the customer except for a brief hello. This is called POOR WORK ETHIC! This slows down their checking out customers and invites errors in checking out items -- as in bar coding products twice and more than once on the same receipt. I agree with the employee as to how frequent outdated items are found on this store's shelves. The idea that it's the vendors fault is pure poppycock! Its their flagrant way of passing the buck. I have already seen a whole food section shut down with employees taking EVERYTHING off of the shelves (the seafood isle). They would not comment on on the HEALTH DEPT. possibly shutting the store down. I have also had a store manager glare at me from behind the one-way glass cubicle used purposefully to spot random customers. I was just being handed my bill when he came out looking askance at me. I won't detail how I was able to figure this out except that someone complained that I cursed them. Yes, under my breath I did indeed curse someone who blocked a shelving area with their cart. I merely stood quietly waiting. Then this person opened their item, tore open the cellophane wrapper, pulled out a cracker and offered it to a toddler sitting in their cart. Finally I squeezed my hand in between their cart and the shelving, picking out my item as they finally then moved on their way -- singing loudly as they went. Softly for the toddler -- nope, this person was obviously goading me. Yet I never was asked about this -- my side of this rude occurrence. This Dousman St. store has very rude clientele on a regular basis. They cut off my dear wife with their carts in rude and disorderly fashion. NONE of this is policed by store staff. My emails to the Woodman head office go unanswered. In accordance, I will shop a very nice nearby store more. They are pleasant there and clientele have some decency about themselves. I will also begin buying more meat from a second store sun by smiling relatives whom are so very pleasant and always available to greet customers. This store will be in addition to one I often already go to. The meat at both stores is higher quality than that at Woodman's. So be it!
