Ingles Markets - manager complaint

My lawyer bought my husband and I $963.00 worth of food out of the blue because he felt bad for us ( My husband and I were involved in a truck accident 10/24/10 on I-26 where a semi tractor trailer truck hit us at a stop going over 75 mph; killed 5 people). So our lawyer brought us grocerys because I am not medically released for employment and don't have money at all. My husband and I had to leave town and all that food was going to go to waste so I tried to return just some the next day. When I walked in, I told a man I wanted to return some items and he said he had to get the manager. The manager (Shawn) walked up, didn't say anything and I said "hi, are you the manager?" he said "yes." and I said "I would like to return these things my lawyer bought it for me out of the blue. My husband and I are leaving town and can't eat it." he said "I remember him, so is it going back on his card?" I said well yea or I could I have store credit?" and he shook his head no. That surprised me. I understand not giving me money but no store credit? From not even 48 hours ago? He DID NOT look at my things at all. I had 8 lbs of spagetti sauce, 8 lbs of peanut butter, etc. Stuff that wouldn't have gone bad for awhile. I called him to let him know I was displeased and after 11 years of shopping there we will no longer shop there. Ever Again. I have been a manager before and his managing ethics are extremely immature. Thank you for listening.

You can't work and have no money. Someone did something nice for you so rather than try and get credit from the store, why not pay it forward? Donate it to your local food bank.
