Roy Robbins installed a box window in the kitchen approximately 2'x 9'. Within a short time it bagan to 'drop'. It was no longer level with the kitchen floor. After many phone calls and words he finally came out to inspect it. He did nothing. I contracted an Engineer. His conclusion was that the window lacked support. Robbins returned--attempted to fix the window. His fix did not work. The situation continued to get worse. Conversation continued with him. He finally told me that it could not be fixed and refused to work on it.

In addition to the window he replaced a wooden deck with a vinyl one. The old deck had 4x4 uprights for support and set on piers below the patio. Mr Robbins replaced these with 6x6 uprights. He did not bother to set them on the piers. He set them directly on the patio, causing the deck to rise and fall with the weather. The pitch on the deck did not allow for propeer drainage. He refused to fix the deck also.

I reported him to the BBB. He refused to settle by means of arbitration or mediation.

I can verify the above statement via letters and photo's.

I just discovered this site because I misplaced Roy's phone number and was looking for it online. I have no knowledge of the background to the above complaint, but I do have extensive experience working with Roy Robbins and the above sounds nothing like the Roy Robbins I have worked with multiple times over the past 7 years. He built a large garage for me in 2004 and I was completely satisfied with him and with his work. It was my first renovation project and my experience was nothing like the horror stories you so frequently hear. Roy and his crew were courteous, efficient, very trustworthy and did excellent work. I called him when part of a tree fell on the garage and he was here quickly and repaired the damage in no time. I used him again for a minor remodeling job a few years later and as I write this, Roy and his crew are busy building an addition on my house. Nothing has changed in the time since I first worked with him. He is certainly not perfect and adding on to an old house has created many challenges for Roy along the way, but the work is exceptional and he remains a pleasure to work with. We never even considered using anyone else.

I originally got Roy's name and number from a friend who has used him for years and I have never had any reservations about recommending him to others.

Roy Robbins Constr. Co. has been in business for 30 years relying only on repeat, satisfied customers and referals. He has one unsatisfied customer and that is Mr. Mieger. The Bay Window in question settled a minimal 1/4" on a 10' span due to comforming to attachment 0f existing structure which was not level. The deck complaint is just a ploy to expand his pursuit of the original complaint. He did not once mention the deck until five years after the construction (the window complaint was more than two years). When the deck was built, he insisted in putting the new vinyl decking on top of old worn out cedar joists "to save money". Anyone knows that cedar is a soft wood and it was showing signs of weakness and age six years ago when the work was done. The posts were put exactly where the old onces were on the existing piers also to "save money" per his request. After many visits and additional supports at RRCC expense, it was decided that Mr. Mieger is that one customer in a lifetime that can't be pleased. He continues to exaggerate and lie and takes pride in being a professional complainer. He has even sued his own family members. See public record at www.courts.mo.gov/casenet and search Al Mieger vs. Douglas and Danielle Mieger. STAY AWAY from Mr. Mieger!
