Visa Desjardins Credit Card Unfair collection practice

We purchased some furniture from Leon's everything was going well and our payments were made on time. 18 months later Leon's call us to tell us they we didn't buy just one T we bought two which was not the case. We ask them to provide us proof we purchased two and they couldn't because we never did purchase two. Leon's then charged our Visa Desjardins credit card for the TV without our authorization. We contacted Visa Desjardins to do a chargeback because we never authorized the charge and never signed acceptance of it. Desjardins does a lot of business with Leon's so they refused to do the chargeback in accordance to Visa International rules and regulations. We then refused to pay them and they put us in the credit bureau. This should be a crime. Their conduct is appalling. We would not recommend this company to anyone.

Visa Desjardins Credit Card Unreasonable Collection Practices, Harassment.

I am 30-60 days behind on minimum payments with my credit cards. I got a phone call two weeks ago to ask me about payment. I made an arrangement and said I am having a seriously difficult financial time now. I eneded up paying more than promised within two business days, and made another arrangment to pay a bit more in 9 days. But, three days later I got another collection call. I told them I already made an arrangement, buzz off. The agent kept insisting and told me they dont have any arrangmeent on file and can keep calling every day if listed as late in their automated ring centre. So I made arrangment with him and said in 10 days I'll make X payment and that is it (lowering and delaying my original arrangment cause I had new problems). Plus this guy was menacing and effectively trying to intimidate me.
A week later another one calls me with same story " we have no arrangement on file". She tells me something about being allowed to call all day if she wants till I pay everything. I told her this is harassment and I am calling supervisor and making a complaint.
They were calling me alot all weeks really, just the only ones I answered were these ones.
I spoke to the supervisor who also insisted that even if I ask not to be called, and even if I am being harrassed, that Visa will not stop the calls.

This is a first party collection I guess, and so not within Fair Collection practices (or however you call it).
Jerks!
Fact is I was R1 before all this, and they quickly decline to ### bottom feeding in two months!
If anyone knows on what basis I can complain about this on..please help!
I want to keep these cards pay them off, fix my score again..Thanks Visa-A$$holes!
and never do business with them again.
They ask you tons of questions keep you on the phone for 30 minutes and dont seem to write it anywhere at all. So just a big waste of time.
Actually any credit card company would do this..but still the choices are limited in Canada now that my score is all messed up! I cannot do that anyway with a bad score now.
For anyone who has ever NOT had difficulty before..please do not comment till your older..you never know what may happen..and at this point everything went wrong at once and plus I get nasty calls from a company I am actually paying. More stress means I am off work longer, and less money So nasty calls all day, all week are making it worse not better!
Anyone know what laws first party collectors Do have to follow? Who do I complain to and where can I push back hardest?

I went to get a new contract and a new phone from Bell. The salesman was grinning a bit oddly when he said something about Desjardins. I didn't understand. He never said I'd be getting a credit card. I didn't know what Desjardins was apart from Complex Desjardins which is a place back in Montreal when I lived there.

Somehow I have to pay both Bell and Desjardins for my phone and I got a credit card in the mail. I put it in the garbage but it was too late. I had just spent three years trying to improve my credit rating after funeral expenses for my father wrecked it. My credit rating plunged. I had no idea of what I was was paying off or why. Maybe they charged my new phone to it (I was given the impression that I was being given a touch screen Android phone for a token sum because I was a good customer). I felt and feel trapped. Even with the card destroyed I have an account with these F@$%rs and no understanding of why.

I got two nasty phone calls asking my to pay my monthly bill. Bill for what? I tried to pay the entire thing off going through the process of registering them with my web bank and sending the full amount. That is when I got the second nasty call.

How can you get a credit card when you didn't ASK FOR ONE?

Biggest losers ever the worse credit card to ever own and don`t ever get a secondary card for your kids or anyone for that matter. They have no respect no understanding and they are very rude.they totally screwed an elderly person over and are continuing to damage this person even after 6 years. This person was struggling to even make ends meat so this person had to declare bankruptcy due to not being able to come to a understanding with them they put the debt in the bankruptcy accepted a dividend, waited one year and came after the secondary card holder for the entire amount. Now they have damaged two people`s credit and they are still being completly ignorant about the whole thing. if you really need a credit card you would be better off with a master card and even capital one is a lot better then visa.and for those who tried to speak to higher authority for visa forget it, it is also a waste of time for such a big company they are the worse and may none of their members ever go through a hard time cause god forbid they would be lost.underStanding and compromise's don`t exist for such a big company and even the higher up group don`t give a damn.

I have recently had a very bad experience with this company. They suspended my credit card...here's the kicker...I haven't been late making any payments...ever. They decided to look at my credit report (which they did not have permission to do) and then they decided at that point to suspend my card. I hadn't used the card in the 2 years I had it...ever. And then my husband was off work and we were struggling for a bit so I needed to use it to balance for a bit so we had some flow going and not stressed even more. I haven't paid ANY debts late and always on time. I have good credit but my debt ratio is a bit high right now and they suspend me...for being a good client. Believe me...I didn't have nice words to say to them and I told them I will be paying the balance and cancelling right away and telling everyone I know and more about the horrible experience with them. I tried to talk to a supervisor and the girl on the phone insisted it was "policy" she then tried to say I asked for a credit increase...never once in my life did I ask for an increase...ever. Not happy that they did a credit check without my permission!

I received a call from Desjardin Visa today. BTW, they call under an unknown number. A few months ago I made payment arrangements with them and kept the arrangements up. I received a letter in the mail demanding my card back; so I sent it back. Today I was told that my file was transferred to another representative. While talking to me this man was rude, intimidating and would not hear what I was explaining. My last representative according to the new one lied to me. The arrangement that was made was to pay four months at $420 to get caught up, then I was told by rep #1 that my minimum payments after the 4 months would then be around $100 a month. Rep #2 said nope no way would my minimum payment be $100 a month, it is $317.25 a month. LIES LIES LIES. I have a Visa card with my bank that even when I couldn't make minimum payments still treats me like I matter to them. Thank you to Scene Visa, oh plus I get free movies with this visa. Anyone looking for credit, should use Desjardin as the ULTIMATE LAST resort, if need be.

Hi ! I agree as well. They are totally harassing me. I got 2 payments behind because they decided to change their terms of agreement, and it was the Christmas holidays. I called them to make arrangements and I respect that arrangement and pay even more.. but they keep on harassing me.. they call at least once a week.. The changes they made without notice.. minimum payment when from 2% of the balance to 5% of the balance.. and because I cannot pay 5% as minimum payment, my preferential rate off 11% was waived and I now pay 19% interest !.. I have been with Visa Desjardins for over 20 years and have always paid in time, in full and more than the minimum. I find this treatment just and unfair and am tempted to stop paying and have them bring me to court and make a formal complaint. This is really not right.

I completely agree with this and would love to get some further information regarding complaining against this company as well. My experience has been very similar and I have tried several times to escalate the call to a supervisor and have been numerously shut down by them. HELP!
