This breeder sold me a kitten that looked healthy when I took it home but within three days wouldn't eat at all and was clearly very sick. My vet found it had kidney problems and the poor kitten died within a few weeks despite 3k dollars in vet care. When the kitten first got sick I was told that it was healthy at Deanna's house and I must have done something to stress out our poor sick kitten. This was not true at all and husband and I paid $1000 for this kitten and we took very good care of our baby. When the vet found the problem was kidney failure Deanna than told us she had PKD paperwork proving her cats had been tested neg. for PKD and that my kitten must have been starved to death to have had kidney failure. This again was not true and I was totally disgusted at the things she was accusing us of but also her lack of tack and all the filthy words coming out of her mouth we never heard when she was selling us our baby. I was completely floored and felt completely scammed. My vet told us any breeder can have cats tested for PKD that they know are neg and send in the paperwork for multiple cats. He also told us any breeder that gives their own shots and won’t take their kittens to a vet is a huge red flag and they are not reputable and any breeder that tells you otherwise run. Her written health guarantee was a joke because she wanted us to have autopsy done days after our kitten had suffered for weeks and then died at my vets office knowing that our vet had already gotten rid of his remains. Without the autopsy she refused to honor the health guarantee and we are out vet bills and 1k for the kitten and the painful memories of our poor baby dying. When I looked for another breeder to get another kitten from I talked to Tammy Victors who told me she worked with Deane and .opalannies.com and they had all kinds of health issues including Herpes which all .opalannies.com kittens and cats have and unexplained deaths that happen all the time. Tammy went on to tell me that she bought a cat that was co-owned by Deanne and that it two was sick with herpes and now all her cats had it and every kitten that was born from the cat Tammy bought from Deanne never lived longer than a week old. Tammy now had another cat that was exposed to the cat she bought from Deanne that was only producing dead and our dying at birth kittens. Beware of this breeder she seems like a nice person at first but her breeding program is all about money she won’t spend a dime to make sure her cats are well at a vet because they are not well. So why is she charging $1000 for a kitten? She has non she is in it for the money and selling sick kittens.

Disagree! I have two of opalannies kitties as well. Deanne puts so much hard work in raising her kittens. I am sorry this person lost thier kitten - but they need to go to the vet within the first two days and that is a clear condition in the contract they signed. They are so delicate and vulnerable and need to be closely watched. I would highly recommend opalannies to anyone. Thank you for my wonderful kitties Deanne - we are over the moon!

I own 2 of Opal Annies Persians and am utterly appalled that some one can spew such complete lies about DeAnn... I absolutely agree that KittyMomma should be banned and her ridiculous complaint as well. I have a 6 month old boy, Azrael who is completely healthy. I have also never had ANY issues WHAT SO EVER with my almost 3 year old boy Atticus. DeAnn takes complete care of her kittens and all of the parents as if they were her children. I have been to her home and have seen this personally. Herpes, kidney probs and whatever other lies this person made up are just that COMPLETE LIES. I own 2, my other friend owns 1 and our other friends have 2 Opal Annies Persians and NOT 1 of us have ever had any of these problems this person is speaking of. These accusations are completely false. She is very helpful always and so informative about this breed and I seriously just cannot believe any 1 could say such things. Our cats have always been happy and healthy. I know 100% without a doubt that this baby did not pass because of any wrong doing or health issues from Opal Annies. I am so sorry for your loss KittyMomma but bashing DeAnn is not the answer. :(

After reading the two separate but same complaints from "KittyMomma"...and the responses from Tammy Victors, it should come to the attention of the Complaints Board that this is an obvious case of fraud and defamation of character towards Opal Annies. DeAnn is a reputable breeder and I sincerely hope that they ban "KittyMomma" from this site. I cannot believe the great lengths this anonymous person has gone to with malicious intent towards a caring person who has done nothing to deserve this. Unbelievable!

In all honesty, I have bought cats from 8 breeders and would only recommend 3 of them and Deann is a breeder I recommend all the time! :0)

Honestly I do not understand how this complaint can be posted twice. Seems wrong. Again, I am Tammy and I have never bought a cat from Deane simply because we breed different colors. I am confused completely about this complaint; it is fictitious as I have never bought a cat from Deann or said these things about her because they are not true. I do not know how this lady put me in the equation. I do believe Deann is an amazing breeder and mentor for me and I simply would never have said any of the above things this woman has stated because they are not true. I know Deann and her cats quite well; they are healthy, friendly, gorgeous cats. Deann has helped me so much over years while I learn about breeding. This is purely a hobby and I have literally never made any $. You could only do this well because you love it. Deann told me that when I started and she was right. I go to Deann because she is one of the best breeders I have come across and trust the way she breeds. I have a few really good mentors and have been blessed. However, I will restate, I would have never have said these things about her breeding because I feel she is one of the best. Maybe the person who wrote this can explain better if she reads this or can call me. Feeling very confused. Hope this helps my friend and mentor who has
done an amazing job at this for over 20 yrs. I am very picky about my mentors because I love cats waaayyy too much. Anyone can call me if you have more questions. I would highly recommend Opalannies and Deann to anyone who wants her colors; Actuall I recommend her all the time! Sincerely, Tammy :0)

Hi there,
I am the owner of 2 Opal Annies Persians: Chubbs(3 years old, blue & white) and Jabba (2 years old, black). Prior to Chubbs and Jabba, I have not ever owned cats, only dogs. My husband, a devoted cat-lover really wanted to get a cat to join the family. After months of research, I stumbled upon Opal Annies kittens on the internet...I was so thrilled to find a breeder not too far from Las Vegas, because we could visit, see, and pick up a kitten in person. It's not as easy as that: first I emailed her...she wrote back (one of at least 30 emails) to ask me questions about why we wanted a Persian and our home environment, etc. Not being a former cat owner, I admitted I knew little about the care of cats but having dogs all my life, the transition would be easy...but I had a ton of questions. Not only did she answer ALL of my questions but she sent me reference links, helpful hints, suggestions on how to prepare our home for a Persian. This is even before we decided on having one of her kittens. Then there is a waiting period...Chubbs was only about 4 weeks at the time of our initial inquiry, so there would be an 8 week waiting period: DeAnn doesn't let her kittens go home unless it is at least 12 weeks of age, to insure the kitten is healthy and ready to leave the mother. For 8 weeks, DeAnn, sent us updates, pictures, videos, and emails to me...the time she spends taking care of her cats, kittens, and updating new owners is more than a full-time job...it is her PASSION. And yes, we have been to her home in Arizona...several times...she is so open and caring...she welcomes people to visit her and see her amazing kittens. When it was time to finally pick up Chubbs, it was possibly one of the most exciting days of our lives. She made our visit so warm, loving and EDUCATIONAL...we signed contracts...went over food, health concerns and vet visits for Chubbs. We were able to sit and spend time with all her cats, kittens and family. DeAnn is not only a respectable breeder but she is an amazing human being, my husband and I stand behind her 100 percent. That is why we adopted another kitten a year later, Jabba. Both of our Persians are free of any and all health issues...our Vet, Dr. Brady Vanderlind. at Centennial Hills Animal Hospital, in Las Vegas can vouch for both of our cats because he has cared for them since day one. We have another friend, who lives in Las Vegas, who also has 2 Persians from Opal Annies...Atticus and Azzie. We plan on getting a third kitten from DeAnn, because quite frankly, she is a knowledgeable breeder that cares and I trust her. I feel really bad for the lady who had this tragic experience with losing a fur baby...it's heartbreaking. But I know in my heart-of-hearts that there is no way...no possible way it was the fault of DeAnn of Opal Annies. There are irresponsible breeders out there but by the same token, there are irresponsible pet owners. New owners need to be ready to care for a baby animal, it is a huge responsibility and a labor of love.

We do everything we can to educate buyers. We provide books, and a web page full of tips and helpful information. We encourage (beg) everyone to call, text, or email us with any problem. And we demand in writing they take the kitten to the vet within 48 hours of purchase date. We can’t be held responsible once the kitten has left our home and the suggested care isn’t provided. We are extremely upset that one of kittens passed away. Any breeder knows all the hours of work that goes into 1 kitten. It is a labor of love let me tell you – very little money is made breeding Persians. Even the state considers it a hobby, a job requires you make money. I spend hours with every new buyer; I provide kitten books to every buyer, even repeat buyers that echo’s these same words. Sadly, the reality is a kitten can only go about 2-3 days without food before the liver/kidney is affected. If we had gotten a call early on, saying it wasn’t eating… I would have insisted they return it or get it to the vet. I implore new owners to keep the kitten separated, like in a bathroom or small bedroom for the first 24-48 hours to insure they are eating, drinking and are not stressed out from their new environment. Our health contract is simple and clear; take kitten to the vet within 48 hours. Sadly this wasn’t done. We were notified weeks after the kitten left us, by then it was to late. With the vet simply guessing what might be wrong because no necropsy was done. Without, there is no way to know what happened. But I do know the kitten was not sick when it left our home. I do know 100% it was not PKD as every one my cats are individually tested. (Copies of the reports were provided.) Not that any of these words help. You need to vent. But there are always two sides to every story.

As to the quotes from Tammy, I have never sold her one of my kittens or cats. So ? Perhaps she was referring to the other AZ breeder she used to work with…
