Omnitrace review: Scam 7

Do NOT give them money! I, too, am a victim. I paid $1200 for a search in Oct. 2017 and have been strung along ever since. I completely understand that not everyone can be found, but they outright LIED to me. They told me they could "Definitely" gain access to sealed adoption records...guess what? NO, they cannot. They have no special avenues as promised...in fact, their weak "research" involves looking up names online...ANYONE can do that themselves. A Class Action Lawsuit needs to happen ASAP. They need to be stopped before they continue to rob innocent people.

Anyone who is looking to retain an agency to assist in a search to locate an individual should always look at the following prior to doing so:

1) Ensure you have a written contract outlining what you will be billed, and what the billing is for. If the agency is charging per hour, then they are accountable to you the client as to providing you concrete statement of account outlining what they did during the time you were billed.

2) If any agency GUARANTEES they will find the person you are looking for, stay clear of them, as in people locating it is never guaranteed that 100 percent a person can be found. Although the agency may have a lot of successes every case is different dependant on the information you have about the party you are searching for.

3) Paying a Retainer is fine however, you should have an INVOICE for it and payment should be made through a trackable method ie: Check, Email transfer, Credit Card. Never pay through Western Union, or Money Gram. If you pay for a retainer always ensure you have an Invoice & Contract to go with it. Also ensure the money is being paid to a COMPANY NAME, and not a private individual. If the company asks to pay through PayPal that is fine as well as long as the PayPal Account matches the company.

4) Always do your diligence in looking into who you want to hire. Success in locates isn't just what you want to look at. If an agency is saying they find thousands of people, stay away from them, reason being is it is not the Company that is doing the work it is their Skip-tracer, and sometimes those numbers are skewed if the tracer they had that was really good isn't working for them any longer. Also, ask for References, most legitimate skip-tracers will have references to whom you may pick up a phone and call, and ask how they dealt with their searches. This is helpful as reference letters or reviews on line, may not be truthful.

5) Depending on where the Skip-tracer is located or your search is starting, the Agency may require adequate licensing, some USA States require them to hold a Private Investigator License, other states there is no licensing, it is dependant on where the worker is performing the work. For example my agency is in Canada, and we locate people all over the world.

6) Remember locating people, has no borders, it can be done from anywhere.

Final note ALWAYS HAVE A WRITTEN CONTRACT, ALWAYS EXCHANGE MONEY TO A COMPANY, AND NEVER USE MONEYGRAM / WESTERN UNION TO A PERSONAL NAME, STAY AWAY FROM AN AGENCY THAT GUARANTEES THEY WILL LOCATE THEM FOR YOU.

Omnitrace is a wolf in sheeps' clothing. You pay a lot of money to get some answers, likely after a long time of contemplating whether you even want to know...Then you contact customer service with requests of an update and you only get voice mail. If you push them, you may or will likely get a rude customer service rep with no information because "I'm not your search representative." And I have to reiterate that these people have no compassion for those in the situation of looking for birth family. Having been taken for a lot of money, I advise anyone in the market for finding birth relatives to beware of Omnisource. I have been taken for a lot of money. They prey on your emotions...Hire your own local private investigator.

Omnitrace is the worst. Asked for my son to be located. but before listening to or asking for information regarding the search asked for credit card or banking information. I smelled something fishy from Canada. Said before my son was too young to be located. They made my wife break down after hanging up on her. She was furious that they wouldn't assist her. She has been searching for years. We did not pay them anything. You should not either. They are scammers and impolite.

I also have used them to find my son in Louisiana. It has been over 3 years and I still get the same report every 4 months. Spent $1300 also because they said they could cut thru the red tape and find him. Scam Scam Scam. And they refuse to give me any money back at all.

It has been 3 years, and I still have not heard one word from OmniTrace. As with everyone else, I was told the results would be speedy and accurate. They took my money and now nothing. On my own I have managed to find 3 well-established leads. I would like to know from anyone if there is a class action law suit against OmniTrace. I would be happy to join in. Anything having to do with information on adoptions should have a red flag next to OmniTrace to worn of a major scam! I have called their toll-free number numerous times and either put on hold or told "it takes time, you need to be patient". Funny, I find leads when they can't!

Omni trace Are THIEFS! We paid them $1300 for the services for a 2 and a half months. I found message on my computer this morning I believe it was one of my daughters printed out the info and there it was name of adopted mom and address so I called 411 they gave me the phone # we smoke for half hour . Best day in my life, then I called Omni trace they said that they found this if that ain`t the [censored]smorning which is bull. Then I had to ### someone from Omni for some of the money all they are refunding is $200 I do not recommend to anyone, they are some of the rudest people DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT HIRE!
