On 10/18/2022 I was referred to see Dr. Newman at MUSC in Charleston, SC. I prepaid a copayment amount of $30.00. I was also scheduled to see Dr. Lee, if necessary, for this I prepaid the amount of $275.00. I was supposed to see Dr. Newman first (an ENT Dr.) and then if necessary see Dr. Lee (an oral oncologist). I was told when I arrived that Dr. Newman was backed up and so I was told that I could see Dr. Lee. Upon seeing Dr. Lee, I was told that he didn't have anything he could do for me until I saw Dr. Newman. Upon then seeing Dr. Newman, I was told I did not need to see Dr. Lee. I was billed $275.00 for seeing Dr. Lee. I contacted MUSC on 10/19/2022 and explained the situation. I was told that I would be credited $275.00 to my credit card and that it would take 3-5 business days to appear. I called MUSC on 10/28/2022 and told them I had not been credited. I was told I would have to wait for my insurance (Medicare) to process. On 11/25/2022 I received my EOB from insurance basically stating that MUSC owed me $245.00. I called MUSC on 11/28/2022 and was told that there was more unrelated insurance to to be processed and that I would have to wait. I claim Medicare fraud.
Desired outcome: I wish to be credited for $275.00 for a service I should not have, and did not, need and I would like MUSC to be investigated for Medicare fraud.
