Wu-Yi Source Tea Complaints - Unauthorized charges!

Review all Wu-Yi Source Tea complaints

Wu-Yi Source Tea

Unauthorized charges!
Complaint Rating: 97 % with 391 votes
Company information:
Wu-Yi Source Tea
Moreno Valley, Arkansas
United States

I ordered the tea and was charged 37.00 for a 60 day supply. Which was fine since I didn't want to go through the trouble of returning. However, even after I called and canceled there was a charge of 19.95 on my credit card. This was not authorized plus they did it after I had canceled and had paid the 37.00 dollars. This is ridiculous. They do not disclose this initially. If they had said that this "miracle" tea was going to cost 56.95 I would never had ordered it. Plus. they were sneaky about it. Instead of the charge showing up as a payment to Wu-Yi Source it showed up as a payment to Living Lean/Las Vegas Nevada.

Stay away from this if you want to save yourself a headache and time on the phone trying to reason with these unscrupulous people.

I agree total scam. I just had to deal with the same issue today!! And not to mention the tea, doesn't even work. I decided to keep the tea, and not worry about returning it for the $37.00 either, but then when i got this other charge from living lean, I was #$%^ off.

i just dealt with this today. i had kept the tea to avoid the hassle of return, so paid the $37 without issue. but then i tried to cacel the account by e-mailing the "markcustomerservice@gmail.com", to which i never received a response even though i wrote three times. finally today i saw a charge for $19.95 to "Living Lean". furious, i googled living lean and found all sorts of complaint sites. so i went back to the wu-yi site and clicked on the customer live chat. some guy "helped" my by telling me basically sorry, too bad, the Living Lean was a "mandatory" subsciption when you bought the tea, and to call 866-396-5711 to talk to thier customer service. i said fine, but i still want to know why i never got a response from the "mark" e-mail address. he just kept saying "ma'am, just call the number" but i wouldn't let it go. he finally said "sorry to inform you, but the new e-mail address is teahelp@usa.com". of course i was furious. what, do they change their e-mail address every other day so that poor fools like me will exceed thier trial period while trying to cancel on a fake e-mail address? whatever. so i called the 866 number and a really nice guy at Living Lean told me that he would remove the charge and that my account would be cancelled. he explained to me that the Living Lean info is found on the page just before you put your credit card info in for the tea (there is a pic of a women with a measuring tape around her waist). i guess it's really fine print or my dumbass missed it. PLEASE BE CAREFUL, or just don't order from sites like this. call that 866 number and someone will help you. i hope now to see the charges removed from my account.

I too made the mistake of doing business with this company.

Their shady business practices immediately left a bad taste in my mouth. Their advertising methods are also suspect, and they make it very difficult for people to cancel their order for the tea, as well as third parties like LivingLean.

They lead customers to believe that they are not risking much money to try their tea. First, you pay $4.95 for shipping and then an additional $2.00 insurance for a "free trial." Not too sure of their definition of free.

In no time flat - you learn that trying their product is anything but risk free. They automatically enroll you in LivingLean which you have to cancel or you'll be charged around $19.00 per month.

After cancelling LivingLean and asking them whether there were any other third-parties whose services and products I needed to cancel - they informed me that I needed to cancel the vitamins that I didn't order!

THAT was the last straw! I looked up their rating with the Better Business Bureau and to my horror discoverd that they have received a rating of "F." Well-deserved I might add.

Here's what a rating of "F" means:

"We strongly question the company’s reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law’s licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the company’s industry is known for its fraudulent business practices. "

The BBB has received lots of complaints about Wu-Yi Tea and I'm sure that they are going to receive many more as long as these folks remain in business. I'm considering being the next to file a complaint. If this leopard is "true to its spots" - I probably will be filing a complaint with the BBB and any other regulatory agencies who would be concerned about this manner of shady business practices.

By the way - Oprah Winfrey does NOT endorse them - but these folks are happy to use her name on their website!

http://www.oprah.com/community/message/89982
http://www.oprah.com/community/message/166668

They also mention CNN and FOX News. It would be great if both of these news stations would do a nice little investigative piece on these folks. I'm telling you - it would be far from complimentary.

It seems that one of their tactics they use on customers is to try to convince them that no matter what their decision about the product, and regardless of whether the entire box of overpriced tea is returned within the 14 day time fram - the customer will have to pay them $29.95. Their confirmation e-mail clearly states:

"Thank you for your order! You will have 2 full weeks AFTER you receive your tea to evaluate the product and see the results for yourself before you are ever billed."
(emphasis mine)

The agreement clearly states:

"You will be billed the discounted price of only $29.95 at the end of your fourteen day trial period (this is a savings of twenty five percent off the retail price, and is only available for those who secure their trial today). "

This is really misleading. What they appear to be trying to slide past unsuspecting customers is that their trial of this product will cost them about $37.00. And if you want your $29.95 back - you'll have to jump through hoops to get it. A cancellation call is required - and I had to stay on the line for 15-20 minutes to speak to someone. I went on live chat to get clarification and make sure they cancelled my order. Next - if you are irritated with their misleading business practices and decide not to try the tea - you have to mail and track the package of tea and get it to them within the 14 day trial period. The package needs to be accompanied by a letter and you have to call these folks to confirm that they received it. Next you have to wait 2 weeks for the refund of nearly $30 that you never intended to spend in the first place! You find out these little jewels AFTER you've ordered their tea.

Here's how their e-mail to me read:

"Here's the answer you've been looking-for..

INTRODUCING...

WuYi Tea

As seen on MSN, CBS, NBC, and 60 Minutes!

If You Haven't Claimed Your Own Already, You Can Try It Now For Only $4.95!"

The REAL investment is not $4.95. You actually spend $37.00. And it is obvious that these folks count on people chalking it up to experience and eating the $29.95, which they do not make it clear that they intend to charge their customers no matter what they do.

According to the agreement - I should not see a charge until I've had their product for 14 days. And I fully expect a refund from them within the 2 weeks that they stated.

Do they outright lie? I'm not sure. Do they mislead people - YOU BET!

STAY AWAY FROM THESE FOLKS AND ALL OF THEIR AFFILIATES!

I WISH TO CANCEL MY ORDER, BUT HOW DO I DO THIS I HAVE BEEN TRING FOR A WHILE KNOW. DOES ANY BODY KNOW HOW TO CANCEL THIS STUFF.

This is a total rip-off! After being charged $37 for the box of tea (which doesn't work!), they also made an unauthorized charge for living lean, and when you try to call the phone number given, nobody will pick up the phone! They're making it hard for anybody to cancel at all! And then they give you another website, teahelp@usa.com, and as soon as you open it, you're automatically given another order #!!! even if you didn't make one! BBB should stop this group from doing business!!

I agree with all above comments. Total Rip off. Hard to cancel.

I feel I have been ripped off also. I have tried cancelling this order, but still get charged. Phone number 866-449-5567 I only get recording to send e-mail to cancel. Phone number 866-396-5711 for Living Lean tells me that they cancelled this and gave me a confirmation code, but I don't feel comfortable about this. I am taking to my bank tomorrow and will probably cnacel my card to stop charges.

These people are crooks and scam artists! after paying for the worthless, horrible tasting tea, I got the first ding for the $19.95 for something else(?) I didn't order and never even received!!
after calling the 866-396-5711 # 3 times over the next week and NEVER getting a live person. I then reverted to contacting wu-yi since they at least answer the phone/e-mail. Since they were the ones who have out my credit card # to living lean without my permission, I asked them to take care of it and cancel BOTH "subscriptions" and get me a refund for the $19.95.

One month went by and there was ANOTHER charge for $19.95 from living lean. I finally got through to above number and (tried) to talk to a CSR whose accent was so thick I had to repeatedly ask her to repeat herself.

After threatining legal action she offered me a refund of $19.95. We will see if I get it. It is supposed to take 3-5 business days.
Either way, I will be writing a detailed letter to Better Business Bureau on both of these loser company's who are obviously entertwined.

I have absolutley lost patience and have never been so scammed in my life! DO NOT ORDER FROM WU-YI!

All of the above has happenned to me too. I innocently took up an offer for a trial on this product - realised I was going to be charged the $37.00 but no way did I ask for
or want the Living Lean.

After many emails back and forth I was assured that the Living Lean subscription
had been cancelled - I live in New Zealand so cannot ring the toll free number
provided - but then the next week my card is charged for LIVIN LEAN too and I have
not even received anything.

It is unbelievable that this can continue and people like this exist and do this to others.

THEY ARE SHITS excuse my English - and I hope they get nothing but bad KARMA
but in the meantime anyway to shut them down is the avenue I will pursue.

It is disgusting - and I hope they read all these comments but of course they wont because they are laughing all the way to the bank.

I have been billed AUS$21.73 on my Visa Card today. This charge is by Living Lean/Las Vegas and is totally unauthorised by me.
This is theft, plain and simple.

As I live in Sydney Australia the toll free option is not available to me, so I am reporting this scam to our Federal Police HQ, for further investigation.

DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH WU YI TEA or LIVING LEAN.

OMG I checked my balance on line yesterday and found 3 overdraft fees of $39.00 each total $117.00. I called the bank and asked them to check as I was very careful not to go over my balance. They said there was a hold for $19.95 for living lean las vegas. I had no idea what this was about GUESS WHAT? Wi-YU you guessed it . These slime balls had charged me even after I had cancelled before the trial was over. I cancelled because after asking three different people what the exact f/u fee for the tea was and how often it was sent and getting three different answers I felt uncomfortable. I asked why can't I get a straight answer out of your company the cancelled me. They NEVER did answer that question.Beware these people.

I agree with everyone. Stay any from this company they give your credit card to Lean living and they charge you 19.95 a month to use their website. I had to get a my credit card company to call them with me to stop the charges. I have since had to cancel my credit card to stop them from trying to put through charges

I ordered this tea and found it repulsive. I have tried repeatedly to call to return my unused portion of my order without being able to reach anyone or get any kind of response. If I don't receive a response in two days I am going to take legal action. J.Krywult

I agree with everyone above. Same crap happened to me. I called and threaten to report them if I didn't have a refund sooner than later. I was given a confirmation number and the funds should be in my account in 4 to 5 days. We'll see. I will, however, go ahead and report them to the BBB and I am canceling my debit card to keep these idiots from charging me for some other crap I didn't order or agree with. Please stay away from this company.

Today went to their live line to cancel, refund, etc. and went round and round to 3 people. Grrrrr. Told them I was joining complaint bloggers, also reporting this rip off to news media, telling everyone at fit center to stay clear of these ppl, etc. They kept saying how I had to pay the $29.95 plus shipping to send it back, blah blah. After 30 min online arguing, Tyler says they removed it, canceled, will get email confirmation in 24 hrs...will see, eh? Now, must spend time checking credit card and such...what a hassle. The product does not work and they need to be REPORTED ASAP. How about beginning a petition, sending it to better business bureau? HOW MANY 1000S OF INNOCENT VICTIMS WILL BE HARMED IF WE DO NOT SPEAK UP NOW? They are MISLEADING. Their so called miracle tea is just black tea 1 can buy any place for $3!!!
RIP OFF SCAM taking advantage of ppl desperate to lose weight.
PLEASE WARN EVERYONE ABOUT THEM, KEEP COMPLAINTS POURNG IN. They need to be exposed, investigation asap!!!

I am the husband of Janice Hendrixson. I am an amputee Navy Viet Nam Vet that served this nation 14 yrs. I am very angry, do not appreciate being ripped off by this company of our very hard earned money. Soon as we received it, we knew we had been ripped off, was just plain black tea in a little box. No different from the other black tea bags we buy for $3 at any store. My wife could not get through calling..she was cut off each of a dozen times. I watched her spend 30 VERY VERY VERY frustating minutes on their live help line, have to chat with 3 different people (who knows? Same person, used different names?), argue, and I worried her blood sugar (diabetic) would rise, she was SO UPSET. I plan to tell my VA counselor about this, too! PLEASE SPREAD WORD NATIONWIDE about this rip off company, put them out of business pronto! PROTEST STRONGLY!
