Today is Saturday, September 17, 2011-I received telemarketing phone call by US Financial Resources by a foreign man, who sound as if he was from the West Indies region, being hard to understand clearly. He did say I was to receive FREE Grant monies from the US Government due to "THE" application I submitted for educational assistance funding. He stated their company was related to the US Government and a member of the BBB. He then stated he was going give me an application where I can ascertain any funds I need just by checking a "box", such as monies for Home Improvements, Housing, Tuition, etc. Then he was going to assign me a name and password for a "member website" where I could fill out an application for ANY GRANT I WANTED FOR FREE, NO LOANS, NO PAYBACKS because they are Grants, and said..."Isn't that great?" I questioned the need to re-fill an application since they had one; why not just give me the password and my name? He seemed a bit rattled, then stated he needed just a small fee of $3.87 and a credit card # and afterwards he would. I refused telling him he had my info, and there was no need to pay him anything. He pushed my buttons too long...and I still refused to give him my credit card number and told him if I was to receive anything FREE from the Government I was quite sure they would NOT be charging a "fee". I was sitting at my computer and searched the company name: US FINANCIAL RESOURCES. My reaction was: This is a TYPICAL TELEPHONE/CREDIT CARD SLAMMING SCAM. According to website there is a fee of $3.87 as he stated...and at this point I told him I had pulled him the info from the web and I was appalled at his dishonesty because the $3.87 was FOR THE FIRST (10) TEN FREE TRIAL DAYS THEN $59.95 MONTHLY WHICH HE FAILED TO MENTION ON HIS "RECORDED CONVERSATION" (yeah right). He said, Oh no, no, no...this is ONE TIME OFFER of $3.87! I told him thanks but no thanks, I know this is a credit card slamming scam and I want no part of it, and feel sorry for the people they take advantage of and I hung up on him.
There isn't a BBB logo anywhere on the website nor it does not state this the site is related to the US Government in any way. All they are doing is selling a "Kit" with different Info on it, and who knows if that info is fact is true. Even though I knew better tan to give my credit card # out over the phone, some people will, and these Scam Artists will continue as long as they can get away with it. People work too hard for their buck these days. Why allow this to keep going on? Our country does not exactly have the greatest reputation at the moment and it's things such as this which will bog it down even more. STOP THESE GUYS! Just think, they probably don't even file taxes stating it's a non-profit organization! Grrrrrrr!

Yes, I just got this call for State of Michigan grant for anything I needed. As soon as I understood I had to pay the $3.87 by telephone, I immediately told him, "This is a fraud! Delete this number from your records and never call me again!" Based on my experience in 20 countries I recognize accents. This was probably from Mexico.
