Return policy issue!

I'm currently 9 months pregnant due date Dec, 7, 2007. I registered with Target even after reading about some of the complaints I read over the internet. I received a baby gift 2 days ago that was not on my registry and without a receipt. I went into the store to EXCHANGE the gift for some other form of baby item. When I got to Customer Service they inform me that because the gift is over $20.00 the price ($28.--) that I cannot even exchange etc. for this item. I then proceeded to ask to speak to a manager and he apologized saying that he even agreed that Target was CHEAP and that the policy was unfair! I asked him what I was supposed to do with the Eddie Bauer infant travel bed and he said "HE didn't know but they couldn't return it". I now wish I would have listened to all the complaints made by Target customers. Warning me not to register there or even buy from them. I've spent well over $1000.00 during this pregnancy on maternity clothes, baby items etc. And they cannot exchange this one gift? I have never been so upset with a company as large as Target. You can definitely tell there only out for number 1, themselves and not the customer! I have deleted my registry and will inform ALL my friends, family, co workers etc. The experience I've been through. I will also advise them not to shop at Target!
