Residence Inn review: Bad place to stay 3

I booked the room in Residence Inn. I moved into the room, when it was late already and I was tired, therefore I didn’t check the room. In the morning, it turned out that the TV and lamps didn’t work at all. I went to the receptionist and asked to change the room, but this jerk started to yell at me. He refused and stopped to reply to my calls and requests. It was the worst place to stay and the horrible services as well.

We stayed at the hotel from March 10, 2014 through March 16, 2014. When returning to the hotel in the evening on March 13, 2014 we were greeted with yellow police tape around our room. The exterior of our room had caught on fire around 3:30 pm and the fire department came and put out the fire. All of our personal items were exposed to heavy smoke and some of the items were wet from the water used to extinguish the fire. We lost luggage ($250), sewing machine ($999), food and clothing ($85) due to water and smoke damage. All of our clothes had to be washed several times to remove the smoke when we returned home. I spoke to the Director of Loss Prevention and he said they couldn't do anything to reimburse me for my loss since the fire was ruled accidental from a cigarette. Accidental --- someone had to throw the cigarette at the hotel! I called Marriott to see what they could do to help and they said the hotel was managed by Island Hospitality and they couldn't do anything. Five weeks after the fire, I was finally contacted by the Loss Prevention Director with an offer of $250. I had to pay the full price of the six nights ($706.86). I am a Gold Card Marriott Rewards member and this is how they treat me. I will not be staying at any Residence Inn Hotels in the future.

They charged me $42.00 dollars for city tax on top of the $179.00 dollars a night then they charged me $4.00 dollars for a call that no one even answered. On top of other tax's. Plus when I called i asked how much the tax's would be and they said they didn't know. They should just tell u that it is $200.00 a night.

They don't charge tax, they collect it.
