Linda Wanamaker sold me a Havanese dog 11 months old for $2600.00 in July of 2016. She agreed to my request when we made the deal to test his patellas at the vets and have his eyes checked by the vet. After she received my money, she was very short and curt when I asked questions and did not want to be bothered.

I was flying from Tennessee to Washington State to pick up the dog and the ticket was 800 dollars. I called her to confirm if she had been to the vet to check the patellas as we had agreed upon and she started screaming at me that she did not have time to be bothered with phone calls and emails! I had not called her in 10 days and I had emailed her twice! I was leaving in 36 hours to go pick him up and needed to know if his Patellas passed the test before flying cross country. She asked me what day I was picking him up. I said Thursday. She screamed that she would have the vet report by then and not to bother her. My plane left at 5am wednesday morning and I needed to know if the dog passed the test before making the trip!

She never did get them tested rather she got a travel certificate, which is not even needed to fly in cabin with a dog. However, he was a rare Red havanese and I wanted him so bad that I overlooked her behavior and I flew to Washington state from Tennessee. We spoke when I arrived at my hotel and set a time to meet at the airport the next morning before my flight.

In the morning I found an email that she was coming later and also telling me in one sentence when his puppy shots were- 8 months ago. I thought surely she has more vet records for an 11 month old dog! I called but she did not answer. I left a very business-like message asking to please meet me at the agreed on time so I had time to pick up a ticket for the dog and get thru security. I stated I was nervous about not having enough time. She had changed the time allowing me only 35 minutes to do all that and board the plane! I also asked if she had other records for the dog.

She never called me back so I went to the airport and waited for her... and waited and waited. She would not answer the phone and finally after standing outside the airport over half an hour and trying to call her several times, I checked my email and found a message that she did not like being told what to do and she was not bringing the dog! I had flown across the country (11 hours of travel each way), she had not tested him as we agreed, she yelled at me and had not told me in the two weeks since I paid her that she had no health records for this 11 month old dog and now she refused to bring the dog and was offended that I asked her to meet me when she said and bring dog records?

Ms Wanamaker excused her behavior by saying I was rude to her for asking about the pet records and insisting what time to meet me. Not because I was rude in the way I said it but because I had the audacity to question her. I asked very business like questions that any breeder should be able to answer. Anyone else would have let into her with a fury for not telling them about the lack of records, not doing the test and putting them through all that, but I was business like and polite. I did ask for more records and asked her to meet me in time to actually get on the flight! That certainly could not be called rude. I wanted the dog so bad I put up with her abuse and unprofessional behavior, but I wound up with no dog anyway!
I got my $2600 back from Paypal, but I'm out nearly $1000 in travel expenses and came home with no dog. All I can do is warn people what happened to me. Be careful.

Not only is my complaint completely true in every detail, she did not decide not to sell me the dog until I asked her for shot records for him in the hotel room after I flew 11 hours to pick him up. then she just did not show up at the airport. Her people skills are completely nill. She also had a friend post a complaint about me on this same site lying about buying a dog from me and saying it died and I was a puppy. mill. I never sold that person a dog and never ever have I had a dog that I sold die. Never have I had a complaint in 10 years until she posted this fabricated complaint as retaliation for my factual warning to people so they can avoid the terrible ordeal and huge financial loss I suffered because of this woman.

She now has to sell her puppies through other people because she has so many complaints against her.

The only trouble I had at the time of purchase was that she sent me the little guy early and I feel his temperament was changed by an early shipment. I had not had a dog as an adult and was unaware this could be an issue. Six years later we are so in love with him but...found out he has terrible knees. I do think that she assured us that the parents had no issues. Beware as knee issues are hard on the dog and also very expensive for the owner!
would say she's not a breeder to trust.

I own 2 wonderful Prairiwond dogs, my 2 sister in laws, my daughter and 12 friends have bought Linda's dogs over the last 10 years, all healthy, sound dogs with outstanding temperments. We are grateful for Linda's devotion to the Havanese breed . Her many years of wise and careful breeding in her immaculate home and kennel deserves great respect from her puppy buyers. The rubbish in the complaint about not delivering a puppy is just that "rubbish". They are her puppies and she cares about the homes that take them and rightfully can refuse a buyer. The dog world is fortunate to have a breeder of the quality of Linda Wanamaker!^

As a breeder if I decide NOT to sell to anyone does that mean I become a target of attacks for every malicious creep on the internet world. Absolutely. People are so spoiled anymore that to say NO to them opens the door for every kind of hateful abuse they can dream up. After breeding and showing only Havanese for 20 years and to end up with a couple spoiled brat adults is so ridiculous. That because I told these people NO, they feel the need to whine about it on the internet. Ladies grow up. The one Carol is a huge liar and one day karma will come to roost

I have a similar complaint as the original post by carol k2. The owner of prairiwind havanese, Linda is not at all suited for selling anything to anyone. She lacks basic people skills.
I called Linda on the phone about her puppies. At first she was very nice to talk to. She was one of the first breeders I spoke to and this was my first time searching for a puppy. I asked her to send me videos of the puppies and her nursery, because some websites suggested I look at the nursery to make sure that breeders have humane practices. She told me the price of a puppy was $2000.

After I looked at the puppies on the video, I fell in love with them and I told her I will fill out the application. 10 minutes later, she called me and lowers the price to $1800. This was a red flag for me, since she sounded very desperate. But the puppies were so cute and I let that slide. Then I sent her the application and was making arrangements to fly there. By the way, we are an ideal family with a big fenced in yard and a family member always staying at home to be with the dog. I sent her a few more questions about where she lives (for travel arrangements) and others that were legitimate normal questions a buyer would ask to a breeder. I was set to get one of the puppies and was so excited like I was going to adopt a baby. I was about to purchase a plane ticket and all of a sudden, she sent me a very short email saying I ask too many questions and "I was going to be too difficult to deal with ( her words)" so she was not going to sell me any puppies. I was so heart broken.

Luckily, I had not bought my tickets but I totally believe this original post. Her experience is so similar to mine.

Now I see that Linda is trying to sell her puppies through Carita Havanese who is supposed to be very good. i would avoid making any transaction directly with Linda though since who knows when she suddenly changes her mind and send you rude comments.

You complain because I didn't sell you a puppy. How ridiculous can you get. And why on earth would you theorize that it was a good thing you hadn't bought a plane when hadn't even put down a deposit on a puppy. Again another spoiled adult woman whining not because I owed you money or sold you a defective puppy, but only because I told you NO. Surely can't be the first time in your life you've heard that word. Another example of our current problems in this world of FAKE news

This woman is a liar. She has made up all of this to get even because I decided NOT to sell her a dog and IMMEDIATELY refunded her money She is rude and constantly complained about everything. In light of this I told her I would NOT sell her the dog. To get even she made up these lies to try and make sure I paid for the audacity of not giving her what she wanted. Please check out her website. I found out she is a puppy mill breeder and does NOT show her dogs and goes around trying to buy dogs from breeders so she can get some kind of credit for being a good breeder of which she is not.

BEWARE this woman will go to any length to get even if you dare not do what she wants
