I contacted Kathy Chasteen about purchasing one of her German Shepherd puppies and after a couple of emails back and forth, she asked for a deposit of $50 to hold a spot for my pick of the litter. I asked her before agreeing to mail the deposit if the puppies had any health clearances and she quickly responded like she did with every single one of her emails, within ten minutes, that they had a two year health and temperament guarantee from her. While that didn't sound very comforting, I trusted her word as she reassured me she'd been doing this a long time and set up a time to pick up the puppy the following week.
I sent the deposit and gave her a quick email letting her know that it would be in her mailbox tomorrow and she promised to send a picture of the puppy I choose (the only girl in the litter) and was looking forward to seeing me next week.
A day goes by - no photo. Two more days - no photo. I email her, asking where the photo was and if the meeting time was still okay and receive no response. Even now I have yet to heard anything from this woman who made off with my $50 deposit. I would discourage anyone from attempting to purchase a pup from this woman.

My ex bought a GSD from Kathy and he became mine. I have never had a dog as wonderfull as my Sauron. Unfortunately due to my ignorance and trust in her (my ex) I gave he control over Sauron for the first 9 months of his training and rearing.
She taught this wonderful and loving animal that all people were dangerous and his duty was to keep them away from us. THIS IS A VERY BAD IDEA.
After I got rid of her, I took Sauron. I worked for months to socialize him and worked with his trainer to solve this tragic upbringing. All to no avail. I had to put him down and am absolutely devastated. I loved him so much!
I am currently waiting to get another GSD from Kathy. This time I will make sure that a quality dog, of good breeding is alowed to be what a GSD is. The best family and protection dog on earth.

I have bought a Beautiful German Shepard from Kathy 8 years ago love him ti pieces i had nothing but POSITIVE things i could tell you about her and her Business i am looking forward to soon purchasing another one and will go to her FIRST my baby is super Smart obeys and has a great temperment as well.
The complaint does not reflect my experience with Kathy and makes me think the woman changed her mind and was miffed about the deposit. Kathy is a wonderful person. I have known her for some time now and have kept in touch with her since I bought this fabulous dog named Millie from her. I not only gained a canine family member that day, I have a friend today from that experience. Millie is a very healthy and beautiful dog. I could not be more pleased with her. Anyone would be dealing with a real person who cares about her dogs with Kathy.
I bought 2 dogs from Kathy in 2006. Both dogs are very healthy, on the Science Diet, and are absolutely gorgeous. NEVER a health problem. I constantly get compliments on them both. She was great to buy from and backs her dogs 100%.
I have been at the kennel before we purchased a German Shepherd pup. I was looking at different breeders to purchase our families first GSD. I did not purchase either of my dogs from Someday Isle Kennels. My reasons are 1) My impression of the kennel was that it qualified as a puppy mill. She had easily 20 or more breeding pairs of dogs, The kennels were nasty and some of the dogs acted as if they had not been handled that much. 2 ) She had a male pup that was maybe 7 weeks old whom she did not know his sire. He was in a kennel by himself and was so scared she had to dig him out of the kennel since he had not had much interaction with humans. This was another HUGE red flag to me. She said she would sale him to me at a discounted price of $300.00! But, there would be no papers. I did not care about papers but, was worried about how his lack on human interaction would effect his future of being around kids, etc. 3) I had swore I would not buy a German Shepherd pup who had parents I could not touch or be around without worrying how that would react to me, or my family, playing with the pups. This was not even a possibility at Someday Isle Kennels. She even told my daughter not to go near the kennels. I did eventually find a breeder who I could let my daughter play with the pups with mom and dad were there. She has been the BEST dog in the world - both friendly and protective. Exactly what I wanted. 4) She told me that her dogs went back to a police K9 whom I cannot remember the name of now. When I did some research I found that the dog never even existed! I do not regret my decision not to purchased from Someday Isle. I still feel like I would have regretted it to this day if I would have.
I am going to add my two cents... I am in the process of buying a puppy from Kathy. I have had return calls/emails in a timely fashion EVERY time I have contacted her. She is friendly and very knowledgeable. I look forward to completing the purchase and welcoming a new member to our family!
I have had nothing but a positive experience with Kathy in the process of buying a Havanese puppy from her. We visited the kennel, which has been in the same place for a long time so could have been easily accessed had the person who wrote this complaint wanted to go out to her place. She also brought the puppy to meet us a second time at our request because my husband has allergies so we wanted to have just the smell of the puppy for him to check rather than than the other animals on the property. She has provided pictures, answered every e-mail and phone call, and bent over backwards to accommodate us so far. We have already paid the deposit and named the puppy. She asked for the name so that she could start calling the puppy by its name. We recently asked to change the pick up date, and she said that was no problem. We told her that we wanted to litter train the dog, as we read was possible with this breed, so she has already started working on that for us. When we get our puppy in three weeks, we will have a puppy that is litter trained and already knows her name. I highly recommend using her breeding services!
I too have bought a german shepherd from Kathy, and since the first phone call she has done her best to make sure that she provided me with all the info I requested. She always answered the phone, and if she didn't, she would call me back with in minutes and apologize for not answering the phone! I bought Neeko about 4 1/2 years ago, trained, and he is doing great. When we added a female to the family, and she had a litter, I had questions and even though I didn't buy my female from her she still gave me advice and took the time to answer any and all questions! She was great. I will go back to her, and I will tell my friends about her! Thanks Kathy for all you do!

I recently bought a puppy from Kathy and she has provided nothing but excellent service. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a German shepherd.
She also provided extra help answering questions with my boyfriends GS at no extra cost. Wonderful person and a great breeder! Thanks again Kathy!

My husband and I purchased a puppy from Kathy and have had absolutely no problems with contacting her, emailing or calling AND the puppy is the best we could have hoped for! We are extremely pleased with the whole process and are thinking of buying another dog from very soon so Bear can have a playmate! Keep up the good work Kathy!
My name is Jacob and I purchased a German shepherd from Kathy in December 2009 and have been more than satisfied with the service I received. Kathy answers every time I call and always responds to my emails, this complaint is totally false.
I am Kathy Chasteen and the puppy has been waiting for the lady to pick it up since June 19, the pre arranged date for the pick up. I do not have a phone number or an address for this lady. I have made numerous attempts to contact her by e-mail and have been unsucessful. She has never made any attempt to contact me except for our initial e-mails. This complaint is totally bogus. My e-mail address is still kchasteen91@aol.com and my phone number is still [protected] and I still live in Cleburne. I have had a kennel in cleburne for 20 years and this is the first complaint.
