Terrible company
Hello, I am a former employee of Hansons. I left a decent secure job, to come work for Hansons because I was promised the world. The amount of times I was lied to, is unreal!
I'll start at the beginning. I went in and spoke with the recruiter (David R) and he blew smoke up my a$$ saying even if I were a terrible salesman, I'll easily make 50k a year, more likely make over 100k no problem. (hA!) Then I spoke to one of the team leaders (jasen k) now Jasen was a good guy, and seemed as if he cared, however more lies came from his mouth. Before I accepted the position, I asked him how they give us the leads, do they route us towards home, so I'm not over an hour away from home...he said yes, your last appt will be closer to home than your first appt. I said, ok, i really don't want to be hanging out in Detroit all day, I understand if I have an appt in Detroit from time to time, but for 9 long months, I was in detroit 90% of the time, which was over an hour from my house. They don't pay for gas or miles, and I spent an easy $200/week on gas not to mention wear and tear on my car. I've wrote many deals in which the customer tried to get financing to make the purchase. If the customer didn't get approved, I did not get paid?! 17% of my finance deals got approved, 83% did not get approved and I did not get paid a penny. So one can see how you can't make money working for them, since over 80% of the deals Hansons write are finance deals. They have a group of 5-7 guys that have been there a while that get all the great leads and have a decent success rate in writing deals, however even the rep with the best results did not make 100k. So if the best sales rep is making around 75k, and then you subtract the gas costs and all the mileage put on your car, even the best sales rep is struggling. In my 9 months, I've seen so much turnover, out of about 50 sales rep in the Detroit area, I recognize 9 of the guys from when I first started. I stayed way too long and actually lost money working for them. It is a 100% commission job, and the company looks for any reason to lower your commission. If you measure wrong, they slash your commission even though they send a professional measure guy out to every job to get exact measurements. You get 1099 'd from them, yet you are required to show up at the office Monday thru Thursday at 930am for a half hour meeting, where you listen to a guy named Scott T, who owned his own company one-stop home improvement, but went out of business and left a lot of customers out to dry. this guy literally says the same thing over and over everyday, a complete waste of time. If you dont show up for the meeting, they will notmgive you leads that day. If you have questions, it's nearly impossible to get them answered. If you don't fall in line with the company and you have complaints about something, they outcast you. Rather then talk it out and explain where they are coming from, they just shun you and call you names and give you dirty looks. I could go on forever on why no one should ever accept a sales rep position w/ Hansons. everything written above is why no one should work for that waste of a company...everything written below this, is why potential customers should NEVER buy from Hansons. lets see first of all, the owner Brian Elias, I've heard on multiple occasions in the meeting room, him say, that customers are stupid, and always will be stupid...if they weren't stupid, they'd be rich like me...lol what nerve. Then he would say, if you can't sell the customer on our product, then your even dumber than them. The prices start out insanely high, and then they have the reps call the office for discounts..the office have never said no to a discounting my 9 months of working there. It is made to look as if the rep is doing his best to drive the price down, when in reality the rep knows what the bottom price he can go to is, yet the rep has to call to keep the mirage going...so if you have ever had Hansons out to do an estimate, you know exactly what I am talking about. If you haven't and are planning to, when the rep says let me call the office, tell him no, if you call anyone while your here, then leave. Watch as the price drops magically w/o the rep calling in...that being said, even when the price is dropped, it is still very much higher then competitors. They pride themselves on customer service, yet when customers call for a service job, they do their best to not come out..they call the customer names and liars...their main response...tell it to a judge! From top (Brian Elias) to the bottom, it is by far the worst company to work for, and I imagine one of the worst to make purchases from. They claim there installers work for Hansons...NOT TRUE! They claim you get a lifetime guarantee on the products, NOT TRUE! They claim you have a money back guarantee, meaning they guarantee you got the best price possible, and if any other company beats it, they will refund the difference...NOT TRUE! They change the packages around just enough to where no other company has the exact package, therefore it isn't the same as the other company's quote...hence, no $ back. They claim their vinyl windows will last forever, NOT TRUE, vinyl is vinyl, and we all know over time vinyl will bow. They claim their promotion will end soon, NOT TRUE! They claim that if you don't buy today, you will not get that same price a week later...NOT TRUE! Again, I can go on and on. This is the first time in my life I have ever written a complaint about a company. Not that this is the first company I ran across that I could complain about...but this is the first company that I felt necessary I speak up about. Windows/ roofs/siding is not cheap, so I don't want to see even more people get screwed over by them. From the bottom of my heart, I STRONGLY URGE you not to buy any products from Hansons. Whether its wallsidewindows, majic windows, Anderson, paella, mr roof, etc etc...they are All better options than Hansons. Don't make a mistake and waste thousands of dollars on Hansons, I promise you, you will regret it. The people that work at Hansons are miserable, even current reps hate their jobs and hate their boss (Brian) . Don't say you weren't warned. Good luck and stay away from Hansons!
Rescheduling, follow thru. Customer service
I did my research and against better judgement called Hanson's to schedule an estimate. They called me back not once, not twice but three times to re schedule the estimate because "They have no sales people available". The third time I had called back to confirm the time and Hanson's called back less than 2 minutes later to cancel. I was promised a couple of promotional items due to the inconvenience, I was told I would receive a 'Super Book' this is not the actual 'Super Book' that you're thinking it is. This is something Hanson's has thrown together on their own and called a super book. There aren't even coupons for anything in my area. I was also told I would receive a $25 Visa gift card, I have yet to receive this. The sales person supposedly has it and he's been "going to drop it off" for about 2 months now... The initial sales rep came to my house, spent more time talking to my uncle than he did talking to me. When he got to the quotes for the roof I told him I needed to ask him to leave. Of course he called his manager and dropped the price by like $400. $400 taken from the cost of a $17, 000 roof isn't much so I stood my ground and sent him on his way. Hanson's called and asked if they could send someone else out to speak to me, after a short exchange I reluctantly agreed. This salesman came out and low and behold the price was cut more than in half! Wow! How did they do it?!?!? (sarcasm)
The job was completed yesterday, 4 hours later than what I was told so I had to take time off to be there for the walk around. The contractor that Hanson's sent was awesome! Other than being later than estimated the crew was great and I would hire the contractor long before I called Hanson's again.
This morning I get a call to notify me that the contractor wasn't paid for the permit and I that I owed for that amount. I was told by the sales rep that neither the contractor or Hanson's could get the permit, this is something I would need to get. So why do I have to pay the contractor if he wasn't able to obtain the permit for the job? And why was this not mentioned to me? And why are they telling me I owe them $25 more than a permit costs for the city that I'm in? Why can't I get my sales rep to call me back? Where are the rest of the promotional items I was promised?
I personally would not recommend 1800 Hanson's to anyone for anything. Save yourself the hassle, it's so not worth the aggravation and frustration

Job cancelled but keeping my monies
Salesman was rookie, priced out job almost $5000 higher then estimate from another company the following day. I cancelled the job 2 days after signing papers, well within 3 days given to legally do so. Now the big fight to get back my $6000 deposit. The managers from corporate say they will come out and beat the prce i was given. If i had not questioned the $20, 000 pricing i trusted to be correct I would have been overcharged with no recourse. The lies and false promises are unacceptable. They cashed the check immediantly and now I am fighting to get my monies back. There advertising and promises get them in your home. All they care about is getting your signature on the sotted line, Then they control the play of the game. DONT TRUST THEM with your money.

If you want a bad job call 1-800-hansons
Hanson’s did a horrible job on the installation of my doors and windows. They left big gaps around my windows and doors. I couldn’t lock my dead bolts both doors where not level they where barely screwed into the frame. They even caulked the drain holes in my brand new windows.
The Saginaw general manager was totally rude never returned my phone calls. They where not good at resolving the issue’s I had with this poorly done job. They sent out a new crew that didn’t want to touch this messed up job…
My windows and doors are messed up and they just want to try and make it look better but, it was damaged from the crappy job done in the first place. I am so so so dissatisfied with Hanson’s they started off with we so professional we grantee this and that its all a lie.
Bait & switch
My experience working for Hanson's is that they are a High Pressure Bait & Switch company. Since their promotion only allow you to take advantage of special TV offerings when you purchase at "FULL PRICE" which means everyone pays a different price depending upon how long you hold out for or how many times you say NO. If you want the best price tell them NO...
Read full review of Hansons Window & SidingFree ipod touch with purchase
I had a sales person from Hanson's come to my house yesterday to get a quote for a new roof. At the end of the presentation I asked about getting the free iPod Touch that I saw on their TV ad if I purchased this roof. I was told that you only get that if you pay the standard price for a roof. Because he quoted me the "special" discount price, I would not qualify for this iPod offer. The Hanson's TV ad is very misleading. Who pays list price for a home improvement? I would guess that Hansons never gives out a free iPod Touch to any customer. Hansons lost me as a customer because of this issue.
Discrimination
So I just had 1-800-Hansons come to my house to give me an estimate on replacing the windows in my basement. They would not give me an estimate unless, get this, my husband was home. Do not deal with this company, they are chauvinist pigs!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
They also would have told your husband the same thing if you weren't home.
They actually wouldn't give you an estimate because both of the decision makers of the house weren't home. Why would someone spend an hour and a half going over products and prices and waste their time if not all parties who are involved on making the purchase are present. It has nothing to do with chauvinism. In-homes sales reps don't get a pay check to tell you how much something costs. They are consultants who bridge the gap between the person who builds and installs the product and the homeowner so that the homeowner doesn't even have to leave home. For that convenience you pay that sales rep their commission. They also like to have a pay check and they only get them when they have customers who buy their products. They don't get customers who buy when they talk to half of the buyers.
Bad service
On June 15, 2010, I ordered windows from Hanson's costing 4, 357.00. The salesman, was out twice to get the ordered "right". Once on 6/15 and again on 6/18. They have come into my home and broken personal items, my alarm system and windows. They have installed windows that I did not order, installed incorrectly measured windows, windows that were the wrong color and mismatched windows. They have had to reinstall the old windows because they broke the new windows (2 times ) On top of the installation team measuring incorrectly numerous times the last visit on 11/19/2010 was from the actual window maker to measure. This bought the total to 5 times measuring for the same windows. The have been careless and disrespectful to my home. The installers took the sheets off my windows (I took down my draperies so they could work and I was having the house painted)and put them on floor to work on. They have ripped my alarm system from out of the wall all the way down to the basement.
They have broken custom drapery hardware
thats impossible to replace becauce of their age. I am going to have to replace all of the hardware in the home to match and repair my alarm system. It was understood by the installers and myself that the contacts could not be salvaged but the wires were to stay in place. They gouged deep pieces of wood from my window frames to make the windows fit. After many calls to Hansons, I've talked to project manager, Kristen, Nichole, the general manager Marv Glasser(very rude and Augumentive and would not let me finishes my sentences), Cary, Jen, Jillen Marilyn Weitz and Mike Pense of customer Service, I still do not have my order completed. I ordered windows in the summer time so my home would not be open to the harsh winter. I trusted hansons to be a reputable company. All I know now is the hansons is "BAD NEWS". I am very dissatisfied and have tried in good faith to correct the problem. I would never use them again or recommend them to anyone. I have disputed the charges to my credit card. But because Ms. Paula Lybeck of Hansons winds said they have been trying to reach me and even put a letter on my door December 16th 2010 (which I did not recieve), Wells Fargo Bank has rejected my claim. When did a letter being put on a door a legal docoment? What happened to certified letters?. I submitted the complaint letter on Dec. 9 2010. Now all of a sudden dec 10th to dec. 16th my windows are ready. I would have never heard from hansons if I did not dispute the charges. I wish i had read the complaint page before before ordering from hansons. It would have been a whole different ballgame.
the last post is absolutely ridiculus! you think they can pay for advertising because of all the "overcharging" they do? THEY SELL OVER 40 JOBS PER DAY! these guys are a huge outfit that make money on VOLUME...you really think there are over 10, 000 ignorant people that WAY overspend for hansons windows every year? THEY HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR OVER 23 YEARS! small companies die within 5 years...there is a reaason they have survived. Good service, fair prices, and AMAZING marketing.
Let me explain a few things about Hansons (i know them inside and out) for many years.
Their salesmen are (trained on how to lie professionally) in order to make higher sales.
If you use just a little intelligence, you'll save a lot of money calling a smaller company.
All of Hansons tv ads, mailing ads, internet ads, phone book ads, ARE PAID BY YOU !
They are only considered a bigger company because they overcharged so many people.
They have been able to convince (mislead) enough gullible people out of 100's of 1000's.
With all of that extra (overcharged) money, they have been able to advertise their nonsense.
ALL of their work is done by (subcontractors) - smaller company's that you can call yourself.
The products they use can be bought by ANY contractor out there - where you'll save money.
REMEMBER THIS - THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT - (common sense stuff) (don't be a fool)
Calling a smaller company means you'll be (paying smaller money) AS MUCH AS HALF
Calling a bigger company means you'll be (paying bigger money) AS MUCH AS DOUBLE
FACT: I promise you - smaller company's use the same (or better) products than Hansons.
Another big problem with Hansons - the owner 'Brian Elias' takes full advantage of ignorance.
He knows that most people don't know much about home improvement - so he'll make you pay
FACT: The owner of Hansons (Brian Elias) had a license plate (WHOGAF) "who gives a f--k".
That in itself explains where his head is at - he could care a less about any customer out there.
His misleading (sometimes flat out lying) ads has made him millions - DON'T BE A FOOL !
He uses the oldest tricks in the book - 50% off this or that - FREE installation - this month only -
IT'S ALL NONSENSE - he simply charges double for the initial purchase -YOU SAVE NOTHING
OPEN YOUR EYES FOLKS - SNAP INTO REALITY - HANSONS IS A PROFESSIONAL RIP-OFF
One of the 'smaller' company's out there that is known to be very reputable is - IMPROVE USA.
They sold me the same windows that Hansons sells for less than half of what Hanson wanted
We just got out windows this past few months and now that its summer, we want to keep them open. BUT we can't because they Howl so bad that we have to shut them all the time. Does anyone else have this problem?
So, we called a few times and this is what happened:
1.) Installer came out and caulked something
2.) Installer came out and put the draft protectors in (that were supposed to be put in when they installed them)
3.) Prof window guy came out and caulked again and said that they would have to have the Manufacturer over.
Then Today, Handson's called and said that because of where we live, the wind is stronger and there isn't anything that they can do about the windows. So basically we are going to have to live with them this way. My husband told them that he wants to talk to the owner and that it is unacceptable. We are also going to check with out local news caster, "Fox 2 Problem Solvers" and tell them what is going on. we will not stand for this and will have to contact a lawyer.
Hanson's got their Money... and they are done, right? NOT! We will not stand for this.
Please let me know if you had the same problems...
Thanks, Anne
We had a terrible experience with Hanson's. When the sales reps (there were 2, one was in training) came out, they were very nice. My husband and I are young, and first time homebuyers. I wish we would have shopped more, but we didn't know any better.
After signing all the paperwork (or so we thought), we didn't hear from them for weeks. Only to discover that the New Sales Rep, forgot some paperwork, and needed my hubby's signature. He called at all hours of the day (sometimes at 10 pm) wanting to meet up. At the time, my husband was unemployed, but looking hard for work and going on several interviews. I had 3 jobs to make ends meet, so I had little in the way of free time. When he was finally able to meet up with my husband to sign the remaining paperwork HE forgot- he has the nerve to say "For someone's who unemployed, you certainly are hard to get ahold of".
Then, we don't hear from them for weeks. After our initial sales consult, they tell us we will have new windows installed in 3 weeks. 7 Weeks later, I still hear nothing. (Which would be mid September). I call to find out where our windows are, and she tells me they wont be ready until November 27. Then, September 26 they call to say they are coming to install our windows the next day between 11-1. They show up at our house at 8:30 am, and start working. It would have been nice to have some notice. We have 2 dogs we had to make emergency arrangements for, and my husband had to leave that day for a job out of town. So, we had to call my Father in Law to come over and supervise.
We also purchased gutters from them. They didn't tell me when they were going to install the gutters, the guys just showed up one morning as I was on the way out the door for work. Not only were we treated poorly, we also got taken advantage of. we ended up paying the permit fee twice because "they" lost it the first time. Then, the woman would call and yell at me that they still didn't have the permit fee. We still have not seen our money back from that. I even wrote (and called) Brian Elias, as we were given his cell # to use if there are any complaints. To this day, I have not heard A THING back. No response from the complaint, no nothing. They told us our Windows would be eligible for a $1500 tax credit. WRONG. We only got $500 of the $1500 because they dragged their feet on the installation. They still send sales reps out to the house to try to get us to buy new windows... Don't they have it on record we already did? DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

Hello. We had our roof redone in November of 2021. An inspection by the city showed that they put no venting in. We have been rescheduled 20 times (not an exaggeration) for the repairs. I’ll join any lawsuit you’ve got.
How about answering my inquires I sent an email to Hansens asking when I might see any indication that they were going to fulfill their roofing contract. But I they have not answered emails, phone calls or smoke signals
Hanson's charges more than double what small companies charge. Then if you want to cancel they cut the price in half. I don't feel that is the way to do business. They should charge a fair price in the first place. I would not do business with them.

I wish I had seen this a few months ago. I would have been more than happy to show you pictures, video, call logs, comments, and messages! This company should be thoroughly investigated and a class action lawsuit against them.
I wish I'd have read this before going with them. These people are not experts. They are sales people that just hire contractors. There is no oversight. They ripped off my fascia and soffits, then told me it cost more to put it back on. We're 3 weeks into this project with delays. They didn't even do a good job. Drip edge looks like [censored], things aren't meeting correctly and there was wood that wasn't replaced. They want me to sign off. Funny stuff
On November 1st 2022. the Rep. from Hanson's came to my home as requested, to give an estimate for to replace my roof, gutters and fascia board. He completed the inspection. He quoted us a price Of $17,630.00. He stated they would need half the payment up front as we were paying cash to order the materials. I gave him $8900.00 in cash. Leaving a balance of $8730.00. Hanson's had their supplier Wimsatt drop off the roofing supplies that I paid for. Hanson's showed up on November 8th to start the job. I left to run a few errands, and I came back, and the entire crew was gone. I called Hanson's and got the receptionist. She didn't know why they cancelled. I called back and asked why did they leave. The rep stated that there were structural issues that he didn't want to sign off on.We had two other roofers who inspected our roof, and they did not mention any structural damage. Because I needed my roof done, I called another roofer, asked for the inspection. I stated that I wanted to use the supplies I paid for to have the roof done. When WimSatt came to pick up the supplies, I asked to be invoiced for the supplies. The person who was picking them up called his boss, who said I was not required to pay for the supplies twice. We returned $280.00 of the items ,as the roofer we hired did not need them. My wife and I received a call from , the Regional Manager of Hanson's. When I asked to be billed for the materials, he stated that I would have to pay another $5941.00, for a total of $14,841.00. I have the supply order from Wimsatt and the total amount of materials is $5,936.00. That means Hanson's would have to refund me $3,243.04. But they are saying that the materials was THEIR property. That is not correct, as I paid cash to insure the materials to be ordered for my roof. They were not financed by Hanson's. Hanson's is trying to force me to pay them $8904.04 for having Wimsatt drop off materials. They did NO WORK. I paid for the materials. They reneged on the contract. I want them investigated for price gouging and consumer fraud. They have threatened to send my name to collections. Yet I don't owe anything to them. I paid for the $5,936.96 in materials with my down payment of $8900.00. I returned some materials to Wimsatt , which was worth $280.00. Leaving the $2963.04 left over for the work to be done. Please contact me as soon as possible. I can send you all of the contract materials , in addition to the emails from the regional manager. Hanson's really believe they can just KEEP people's money and do NO WORK. The materials were paid for by me, IN CASH. I saved 8 years to get my roof down, and Hanson's is out here demanding to be paid because Wimsatt dropped off materials that I PAID FOR! They Attorney General needs to investigate this company.
Nov 2021- roof replaced. There were so many nails around my yard I lost count. Dec 2021 parts of said roof on two of the 3 structures blow off due to faulty installation. Debris all over the entire neighborhood, nails all over after we just cleaned up what was left after install, shingles in flowerbed, yard, streets. Not to mention the shingles that blew of are all broken into jagged pieces really making me question their quality. Dec-May 2022 after numerous calls to the company, visits from "managers" to my property to take photos, I sit and wait. July 2022 roof is scheduled to be repaired, contractor shows with no materials to repair, has to return that weekend. July 2022-current day I fight with them to get the interior water damages caused by bare patches of roof paid for. They sent out someone to look at the damages, scheduled and cancelled so many times I missed days of work waiting around for no one to show. He acted like they would cover damages and told me to get estimates myself because the company doesn't do interior sheetrock. After all of that headache and missing more work to get contractor estimates, they force you to use your homeowners insurance for any and all comprehensive damages caused by the poor installation. In the contract they make it read like that is only during the installation process not after work is completed. I only recently was told that Hanson's subcontracts out the installation and it is not performed by "them" so you they have no liability over the damage. I paid close to $30,000 for the roof to wait 7 months for repairs and a year plus to be told the truth about how they work. Do not waste your time or money thinking you have a lifetime warranty and use someone local who cares about their reputation.
UPDATE: they attempted to force me into an agreement just to re-turn my insurance deductible that THEY AGREE TO IN THE CONTRACT prior to installation. Example:This will serve as a full and final settlement for any ,and all alleged interior issues that may have arisen out of the above install contract # ***** between 1-800-Hanosns LLC, and ****
have an amicable settlement to a disputed matter.
1-800-hansons will provide a reimbursement of $ for documented deductible for the alleged property damage ARISINNG OUT OF CONTRACT ****
home owners insurance quote.
This agreement is a private matter and considered a non-disparagement agreement between all parties.
Please reply I/We agree.
Needless to say I will not reply with anything other than pointing out the fact they are in breach of their own contract by not reimbursing the deductible.
We signed a contract in July 2022 for new siding and here we are in January and nothing. They never call back and now our credit approval has expired. They are still saying we can’t cancel. Anyone deal with that?
We are located in Monroe Michigan and looking for a good attorney to go after Hanson Window. Any suggestions please.
If you find one, touch base with me.
Hansons in Kalamazoo MI had a contractor from Fort Wayne IN to install our windows the inside work was so shoddy! The manager of this Hansons has 1 repair man. Said windows are in...
Almost two years ago I sought out new windows for a recently purchased home. The original windows were crank out; ugly; old and didn’t open properly.
$10, 000 and 14 months later; 14 new windows, 14 months worth of headaches and poor customer communication.
All 14 windows were loose fitting; you could jiggle the locks loose. None of the screens fit. The slider lock on one of the windows was jammed shut. The two larger bedroom windows still are too heavy / hard to open; once opened they won’t close and lock without fighting it.
All the double hung windows had the same problem; when you closed them, the top came down with the bottom.
They won’t provide a quality product, if you have a problem they won’t remedy the issue, if you aren’t satisfied; you’ll be fighting an uphill battle
I had another contractor come in, he told me the windows were ill-fitted from inaccurate measurements. The installers used some type of metal to fill the gaps between the window and the frame leaving little support for the windows.
They eventually replaced 7 of the windows but refused to replace the rest.
Our issues are somewhat similar. In 2019 we had eight windows installed, but after a month or so they started to smile. That is, when you lower the window, the edges courl up. This prevents them from shutting and locking properly. When you shut the lower window, our upper part pulls down like yours.
Anyway, we had to call Hansons three or four times. They took pictures each time but did nothing. Finally, they came out and replaced the sashes. They still smile.
Hansons is a company of garbage.
We've been going back and forth with Hanson on our roof repairs, incomplete work and a refund since 2018. If you need documentation we have it too. Please reach out.
We had a roof put on in 2017 and have had nothing but problems. I have 5 years of documentation of many errors and I am seeking lawyers assistance as well. They did not end up repairing our roof just covering it with more wood and shingles. Hansons ended up sending a new subcontractor to replace it and ended up falling through roof due to prior bad workmanship. We were told they do not cover those damages and we need to seek home owner insurance to repair their damage. Unbeliveable!
I so wish I had seen this sooner I can attest to shotty work, slow to no response and the guarantee means you'll continually deal with excuses.
I’ve been dealing with a leaky roof for 5 years. The came back 3 times and “fixed” it for it to still leak. Causing 20 k plus in interior damages that they say is home owners ins issue. They fortunately put a bee roof on since o made a huge fuss but now they won’t answer a call. I have black mold growing and can’t afford an attorney at the moment. I’m sacred my kids are going to fall through our floors. It’s ridiculous
Poor customer service
Upon signing the contract for replacement siding on my house, Hansons first told us it would be 6-8 weeks before the install, so it was okay to take time picking out a color. 1 week later, they called and said they were coming out in the next few days, so we had to pick out a color immediately. We did so, and scheduled a date for the work to be done. My...

On March 7, 2009, we invited (I know it is our own fault) a Hansons salesman in to give us a quote on a window. He was very polite, seemed knowledgeable and we choose the next to the top of the line window. We were very specific that we would authorize the $500 down that was required, but would not authorize any more until we were satisfied with the job.
On April 25, the installers were late getting here (were suppose to be here between 9-11 they showed up at 3:10 with a lot of prompting on our part). The screen had a hole in it, the screen corners did not even meet, the main window was bent, the locks didn't work, we watched them put the window in with over an inch opening left on the north side of the window (they just filled it with foam and covered it up), some of the foam was coming out around the trim in spots, it was pushing the trim out in others, the new window ledge was wobbly, and when the windows were closed, they would not close evenly. When they finished, we called the sales person - /name removed/ and told him we were not authorizing any payment until the window was done right and we wanted him to come and look at it. We continued to call and wait for return phone calls to get someone out here to fix it - On April 30, we received in the mail a receipt where they had charged out credit card the remaining $973. After many, many phone calls we finally got someone to come out on May 5, the installer came back and admitted they had done a poor job, and said he would not pay for a window like this - then he took the screens and said they would order us a new window and bring us back the screens the next Saturday. We of course have not seen our screens - but have finally found out that they are suppose to come with our new window on May 28. The worst thing is - we just keep asking for someone to come and look and tell us if they would want to pay for a job done like this. Sean one of the service managers was rude to say the least. JUST BE WARNED - BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO BUY FROM HANSON'S, COME AND LOOK AT OUR WINDOW AND DECIDE FOR YOURSELF.
The reason we did not approve the remainder of the bill is because we told the installer and also call the customer service, and any supervisor that I could get to answer their phone of the issue. We took pictures and asked the supervisors to come look at the job that was done. Yes, you are right they are not suppose to ever charge you again - but that really is a mute point if you can't ever get them to come back and fix the problem!
They did come back and fix the loose window ledge. They did replace part of the window, but it still steams up every cool morning and the special coating that is suppose to help keep it from getting dirty faster - well I invite anyone to come and see for themselves. Through this whole thing, I have not asked anyone - not hansons, not family, not friends, not even this complaint board to take my word. Please come and see for yourself. I have never been able to get a supervisor to come here to look at the job. The installer himself admitted that the workmanship of the window was not good and that he would not accept this in his house.
So, please, until you are willing to come and look at the job that was done - don't pass judgement on my situation.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
They had one guy tearing the roof off and putting the roof on. I don't even know if it's done correctly. That's what my concern is. 4th day and it still isn't done.started on September 29th still on going October 2
I will never allow Hanson to install Windows, Doors anything ever for me again. I agree, with the unhappy Hanson's Customer the hired installer are of poor skilled. I had windows installed 1 1/2 ago and they don't close tight to lock down. I called the Customer Service at Hanson to inform them of the poor workmanship. I was directed to go online to request an order to have someone to come out to review. And, the Customer Representative told me they can't guarantee that they will do a good job. I told her but, you expect good pay. I will never recommend Hanson's Windows to anyone. Never again
We decided to go with Hansons for our home windows and we truly regret that decision. We were lucky enough to have a nice salesperson, but the installers were clearly not properly trained. Our windows leak all the time and our energy bills have hiked up 25% since the install. Everything has been properly documented.
We went with Hanson's for our new patio door and are very unhappy with the over all look, function and installation. We spoke with the manager and they will not refund us our money and said they will service the door but will not do any sort of refund or replacement of the door just because we aren't happy with the quality. In the past I have recommended Hanson's to several people because our previous door wall was excellent (they use a different manufacture now). This is no longer the case and I will be sure to tell anyone I know that is looking for a patio door to stay away from Hanson's! Very unsatisfied customer! UGH!
I was going to use Hanson windows, now I change my mind. Thank you for putting the comments out here!
Hansons Replacement Windows —
Make sure you have everything that you and your salesperson discussed written into your contract. ALL VERBAL AGREEMENTS ARE VOID! Make sure you turn your contract over and read ALL THE TERMS. There are no exit clauses. They do not price match their own deals. Good luck finding a company that meets the terms of their "price match" agreement. Read everything DO NOT TAKE A WORD OF WHAT THE SALESPERSON SAYS AS TRUTH. I was told i would get a call from my salesperson to help with a situation with one of their coupons coming out. I never got a call from him (They do not honor their own deals if you have already signed.) I yelled at one person about the lies i was told among other things, he hung up on me. (I would have hung up on me too) So then a manager calls me I told him "DO NOT MAKE THE WINDOWS YOU MEASURED FOR MY HOUSE UNTIL WE GET THIS SITUATION FIGURED OUT" The manager told me he would find out what was a better deal "the email i originally responded to or the new 60% off email" Never heard from him again. The next time i heard from them it was to set up a time to install "my" windows. I had already told them not to make them and that I had disputed the charges to my card because they breached the contract by soliciting another charge they had "forgot" to charge me. Luckily I had written into my contract that "customer will not pay any amount above contracted price" They solicited the cost of a permit so I went to my credit card company. Now they are coming after me (collection lawyer) for another $2, 600+ and I haven't heard from a manager or seen any windows or gotten any answers to my questions!
I scheduled an estimate for windows with Hanson's before doing any research. Luckily I looked around online before they came. I called to cancel the appointment and was on the phone for 10 minutes trying to tell the lady I was not interested. I was even yelling at her and she wouldn't stop... "you're not going to get anything cheaper... we do the best work... you will get the tax credit..." Then, the guy still showed up! I was worried about this happening, so I made sure I was not home, but I drove by my house and he was there. There was a Hanson's business card jammed in my door when I got home. Ridiculous. They called me two days later asking why I wasn't there when the salesman came. I said, "I canceled the appointment. We no longer want new windows." She immediately went on about getting a free estimate at no cost and how "crazy" I was not to do it for the tax credit. What a joke. These guys are almost criminals.
A friend of mine had Hanson's at his house for new windows. The guy was there for 3 and a half hours. Then after my friend told him he wouldn't sign a contract right there because he was getting other quotes, the salesman actually told him, "You are a waste of my time. You are a liar and are pretty much stealing from me by not signing up with us right now."
There are other posts online about people threatening to call the police to get Hanson's people out of their homes. That is how they do business. Absolutely unacceptable. Never do business with Hanson's Windows or Roof or Siding or whatever.
The only way they are in business is because they throw so much money into ads and put fake posts out on forums.
Hansons does a poor job and does not honor their "Lifetime Guarantee". I bought windows from them seven years ago. ($10, 000 worth) Immeditaly, I noticed that the windows were drafty. After several calls, a serviceman came out. He said that the latches were set incorrectly (whatever that means). Well, seven years later, they are still drafty and they are very cold to the touch. So, these can't be the "top of the line" windows I paid for. Over the years, I have placed several calls and although their messaging system says your call will be returned within 6 hours, I have heard nothing from Hansons. To keep the wind from coming through my windows, I have to put plastic on them! This makes no sense as I spent $10, 000 and have a "Lifetime Guarnatee"! My mother works for a law firm and is going to help me sue Hansons. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HANSONS! THEY LIE!
It's called condensation and I am quite sure that your windows are fine. If you feel they need to be serviced, contact the contractor and with their "Guarantee" IF there is ANYTHING wrong or defective with the product; it will be replaced. They have kept their word to me and several other of my coworkers that I have referred.
most if not all companies would charge you for the job you signed a contract. Now 90% will not leave and return without a service charge if you were unhappy with the install you needed to let the company know not the sales rep. I can tell you this Hansons will make it right and there will be no service charge for the lifetime of the house. By the way on most remodeling contracts it states you pay the remainder upon completion so theres no doubt you were charged the remainder of what you owed only diff is Hansons will replace it and you will NEVER be charged find another company that will i dare you there isnt any.
Customer service
Upon signing the contract for replacement siding on my house, Hansons first told us it would be 6-8 weeks before the install, so it was okay to take time picking out a color. 1 week later, they called and said they were coming out in the next few days, so we had to pick out a color immediately. We did so, and scheduled a date for the work to be done. My wife took the day off work, without pay, to be there when the workers came. Not only did Hansons not show up, they didn't even call to tell us why they weren't coming. We were frustrated by Hansons neglect of respect for our time, so I called to ask for financial restitution for my wife's wages. Upon speaking with the President, I explained the situation and although he was very courteous, he said they couldn't do anything to help. I then asked to speak with the owner, Brian Elias, so he forwarded my call to him. When Brian picked up the phone, I told him my name and asked if he was briefed on the situation. Without provocation, Brian launched an immediate verbal attack on me saying that he didn't care who I was or what I wanted, he wouldn't do anything to help me. I was stunned by his response and asked if he knew what the situation was. Brian responded by saying it didn't matter what I was calling about, that he deals with "people like me" every day, and he could care less what I had to say. I asked him if this is how he treats all his customers and he said, only the difficult ones (again, this was all unprovoked, as I said nothing up front other than my name). I then told him that if this is how he treats his customers, I would rather not do business with Hansons and will pull my business away. Brian immediately responded saying that he didn't care if I pulled it because he he would just sue me for breach of contract. I again was shocked and asked how could he expect to run a business treating people like this. He again said he didn't care what I thought and backed me into a corner...get the work done or get sued. No matter what I tried to say to or ask of Brian, he treated me with utter disrespect and rudeness. I told him that I would have no choice but to get the work done, but promised to make sure everyone I know is made aware of his business practices...which I have held true to since the day I spoke with Brian.
They certainly do stretch the truth. They came to my home and gave me an estimate for a roof. I told the salesman that I needed to clear a written quote with my home mortgage people and that I could not sign for the job until that occurred. He had me sign for the financing and put me through their finance company incase the mortgage could not be completed in time to make payment when the job was done. I told him they could try but I had a bankruptcy and that probably wouldn't go through. That was a month ago. I received one call in between late June and now Late July to inform me that they were ordering materials at which time the woman was told, do not order because I do not have the quote to send to my mortgage company and she stated she would find out where that was. Received a call [protected] stating they were ready to start and they were told to not touch or enter my property. He stated that he had a signed contract which they were told should not have been signed and they said the only way out of it was to pay $9, 000.00 to get out of the contract. Don't deal with 1-800-hanson.
Let me first start by saying I’ve never done a review before but after dealing with Hanson’s I’m feeling so frustrated that I thought others should know what we’ve had to deal with. The salesman offered 4 Cedar Point tickets as the promotional gift, the install began. I came home one day during the last install of a door wall and immediately the crew leader was in my face because a cultured stone above the door fell off and could have hurt one of his guys, let’s be clear, in 14 years we have never had a stone fall off. They finally finished and collected the final payment. I later called to find out where our Cedar Point tickets were, per Tami Amos it was the end of the 2017 season so call in April and they would send us 2018 season tickets. In April, I called many times & left many messages, no response until I called the number that is supposed to be the president, Brian Elias’ cell. I immediately received an e-mail and also a call from Shantae Fletcher who stated she had called me many times. She informed me the tickets were never an option even though they did find where we were offered them, but our only choice was to pick something else, sorry but we have no use for any of the other items. I asked if they would cut me a check and I’d buy them myself, oh-no can’t do that! Now I’ve noticed one of our windows have a blue like stain in the glass and the screens don’t open well, in fact my husband couldn’t even get it to open this morning. I’ve filed the service request online like you are supposed to on May 30th, and still no word except the two automatic e-mails saying someone will get back to you in ‘2’ business days and the other saying our ‘service analyst’ will be Shantae Fletcher. Well it’s been 13 days! I guess I’ll have to call Brian Elias again, I’m sure he doesn’t even know of these calls, and if he did shame on him for allowing this kind of service!
I resently had a conversation with Brian Elias myself where he told my husband that I had no class. He said this because I told him his service sucked. Brian Elias then told my husband to tell me that I sucked. I told him his men were drinking on the job and he said I was probably drinking with them. I DON'T drink. The last time his men came out here and tried to fix what they did wrong they left nails and metal flashing laying around my driveway and yard. Which I told Brian Elias and his response was "Nobody stepped on it did they?" Implying it didn't matter since none of my 3 children or neighbors stepped on it. In my opinion Brian Elias should not be the president of any company. Hansosns will consistatly lose customers if they have to deal with Brian Elias at all. Thank you for your statement of letting everyone he knows about Brian Elias's practices, because I plan on doing the samething.

My next door neighbor had a Hanson roof installed. I noticed the workers starting the job by climbing up on the roof to smoke multiple joints before getting started. No thank you...buyer beware.
