Usenet.nl has stolen 100 euros from me on 4 different occasions. I recovered my money through paypal... however, I also contacted them at their hotline so that I could get the money from them first. As I never used usenet.nl at all, just downloaded it, then cancelled my account this is considered theft, I did not get anything for the money taken. They would not cooperate even after my multiple threats of calling the police, and me telling them that their operation is fraudulent, theft, HIGHLY IMMORAL etc. They would only say that I am obliged to their contract. Contracts like that are unreasonable and downright ludicrous.

(RANT) All people that operate usenet.nl should be ARRESTED, have 10X the total amount they stole taken from them, then tossed into a LABOUR CAMP until I saw fit. Any scoundrel who thinks (s)he can steal legally deserves to be stolen from way worse.

This [censored] company causes several problems:

1. Makes it impossible to reach anyone to cancel your trial.
2. Neither do they answer emails.
3. What you can do is use PayPal, which allows you to cancel recurring subscriptions on your end.
But what they do, in retaliation, is report your associated card as 'fraud', causing PayPal to lock
you, and tell you to upload ID and credit card statement to restore, and at the same time,
causes your bank to cancel and issue you a new card, which causes you to go update all your
other recurring payments at your good merchants on that card.
4. It wasn't that much trouble for me, but be sure that I will get the word out,
you desperate pieces of [censored]. I hope you go the way of myspace.

I know most people reading this are already fraud victims, like myself but if you happen to see this before subscribing to Usenet.nl STAY FAR AWAY. This experience will give you so much stress.

I took out an £8 a month subscription. 6 months later they suddenly changed it to £24 a month without warning. They are a complete scam. I've got the credit card company to deny future payment, but it looks like the first payment is lost.

They appear to have pirated copies of titles on their site too - another reason to avoid. Copyright holders (publishers/authors) are told to sign up if they want these pirated (stolen) titles removed. And, obviously, signing up is a bad idea as previous comments show. Another very good reason to avoid then.

Attempted to use their service, thinking they were legit. Gave them debit card # with CV# and card expiration date. Usenet.nl tried to compromise me, by trying to take all of the money that was in my account. My bank cancelled my card and reissued me with a new #. This company is a fraud, DO NOT USE THEM EVER!

I didn't even download any app. I "signed up" for the free 14 day trial, but thankfully my card wouldn't work for it so I have up. They emailed me saying my payment didn't go through typically meaning that I was not signed up. They kept emailing saying that I need to give credit card information while also continuously renewing my "membership" and charging me for it. What free "trial" is automatically turned into a membership without them EVER receiving payment? How can you try to charge me later on for a membership that I didn't even complete the sign up for? I'm not paying 160$ for something I never used. I never even used the free trial.

I joined usenet for a free trail of 14 days on 22nd Jan 2017. They charged a dollar for the free trail which I declined. When I used it couple of times my computer was hacked by virus and I had to reach Norton to clear it. I was not very happy with the services and wanted to cancel the account. I did so before the end of the trail period. I completed the online form and the end they asked me to call a Europe number. Which I didn't as it was something I have never heard a company would do. In the mean time the company locked the account on Feb 6th saying I didn't pay. After a month I got a mail to pay 12EUR for the month service. Which I ignored as they locked my account. Then I received a physical mail asking to pay the due. I reached the customer service and explained the situation. They transferred the case to a collection agent and they keep sending emails and physical mails. They are now demanding me to pay 55EUR. I wanted to end this drama and agreed to pay 12EUR. They wouldn't agree to that and also now telling me that the account is not cancelled and there are recurring charges, which I have to deal separately with Usenet. This is adding a lot of pressure on me personally and going on for months. I am not sure what they can do legally and how to handle this.

Responding to an email message on 02.12.17, I agreed to pay $9.99 (US) to usenet.nl via Paypal for onetime access to a journal article. I followed the instructions for downloading the necessary software, but it didn't work; I was unable to access the article. I filed a refund claim with Paypal. Usenet had submitted a charge of $99.00 rather than the 9.99 USD that I had authorized. Paypal adjudicated the claim in my favor and any disbursed funds were credited to my account. Usenet has persisted in sending me invoices and dunning letters in spite of PayPal's resolution of the case. In their latest email (04.25.17) they say that (after adding interest, dunning costs, business fees, post, and telecommunications fees) I owe $164 EUR. I plan to respond by email and letter to their correspondence one last time. I won't be paying for a service I never received in an amount that I did not authorize. I'm considering reporting this matter to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at https://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx

Hello! Usenet.nl has pulled a scam on me. First I joined for a trial period and gave my Paypal data. The very next day I got a message: Hello! welcome to usenet.nl! Unfortunately, you cannot use your trial access at the moment, since the authentication of your PayPal account was not successful. Please check your PayPaldata again. Then, you will be free to enjoy your Usenet service without restrictions! " And my Paypal account did not show any sign of this transaction. I have downloaded the app but never used the service. And I thought I did not need to cancel since my payment data never went through. Now they have warned me that a had two accounts and only the second one might not go through. The first one would be billed. I have requested Paypal not to bill me at all. let us see how they handle this.

I paid for a year, after a month of finding only virus filed programs. I went through their customer service and canceled any new charges. a year later they charged my account. I have attempted to get it back through them and they refuse to respond. I have filed a claim through my credit card company. I have screen shots of the correspondence and if i don't receive a full refund I'm filing fraud charges in my home town. They will have to come here to fight me. They will lose. Why do companies like this exist?

ABSOLUTE FRAUD. I have never used this site or signed up for anything, then I saw a .99 charge and another charge that id didn't recognize. I had to cancel my card and fight with the bank. Then they tried to charge $99 to the deactivated card. I contacted them numerous times and got no response. Now I was sent a collection letter for 180, 00 euro. I'm furious in dealing with them. I have never even used this site, downloaded anything, or agreed to anything.

I need advice.

I haven't paid Usenet. They are now charging me a compromised settlement of 132 EUR that I have to pay by 28 February 2017, or else they will "take further legal action" against me.
Will they take legal action against me if I don't pay?
I'm scared they will take me to court. I don't have the money to pay them.
HELP!

Relax. No one has ever been taken to court by them. That's not to say that it won't happen. The most they will do is keep sending you letters for a year and they will stop. If they sue they will have to come to the states. Did you try to cancel?

I've signed up for Usenet.nl's 14 days free trial and downloaded 2 music files, then uninstalled their "pirate bay" software. Now I hoped for a second question via E-mail for a full membership (that's usually what will happen with free trial periods) but all I got was a message from Pay-Pal that a transaction of 99, 5 Euro had already been made to usenet. I was too slow and not I'm feeling robed for something I'm never ever going to use again.
I've canceled their rights on my Pay-Pal. Watch out people! Usenet is nothing but lousy THIEVES!

Yes - Usenet.nl is a predatory business. I just engaged them for the $100 deal and got half the money back from paypal using their conflict resolution. However Usenet.nl then started threatening me and had their legal team up the anty. I just paid $174 to get them off my back. I will not pay any more and will hire a lawyer.

But stay well clear of these evil..

I would suggest getting legal insurance. It will save you on costs, and you will get free consultations. I did the same thing. I consulted a lawyer before I paid. He advised me to pay the bill and just let it go. Hiring a lawyer to fight an international case is 100 times more expensive than the debt they are charging. And the same thing goes for them. They were never going to sue you, it was just threats. But I paid them as well to get them off my back because I have severe anxiety.

What is interesting is that Teschinkasso act on their behalf to try and recover funds (if this is not a fraud as well). Teschinkasso are owned by Lowell GFKL who in turn are owned by Permira Funds. These two companies both have quite impressive ethical policies on their websites. So why do they work for usenet.nl ?

There threats seem to continue with me for unpaid subscriptions, charged in advance, even when they have placed my account on hold! I started the trial, installed the software, found it didn't do what I wanted, uninstalled the software and thoroughly checked my machine for leftovers? That seemed to do the trick, sent form filled out to cancel contract well before the end of the trial, then went with someone else.
Now they want £70 plus costs, well after reading here, then now way. I shall report this to paypal, but not sure they will do anything.
Like everyone else has said, stay stay stay well away from this company! if this what it is, it has a reputation for effective theft, demanding money for something that has not been provided or 12 months in advance. If they want to improve then I would suggest they change their pricing structure and refunded without any arguing.

My experience is similar to the above. I had a recurring annual payment to UseNext via PayPal, which I cancelled. Afterwards, they withdrew my access, as I expected. After a month or so, I decided I wanted to access their service after all so I opened another account and paid for a year's subscription. Now they are demanding ANOTHER year's money for the original account which I cancelled, and keep on adding legal costs etc. I don't think they have the slightest intention of suing me though, as they keep extending their so-called deadlines. It is now over seven months since their first demand. They can keep sending reminders and threats for years for all I care; they will not get another penny from me. I have paid for a year's service and I refuse to pay double to this bunch of shysters. Clearly a dodgy company and best avoided.

Literally the exact same thing happened to me. I canceled through PayPal, and I had to pay 165 euros. I have severe anxiety so this has all been a very traumatic event for me. Once I received the debt collection letters in the mail, I consulted a lawyer who then advised me to pay because the bill was considrerd small. He doubted that they would ever cross the seas to come after me for such a small amount, but there were no guarantees. I have searched the interney for months anf not one court case involving an unpaid debt has been reported. Some have gone on years without paying. And some have sued usenet and have one millions of dollars. The desicsion to risk it or go ahead and pay is up to you.

I to am a victim of Usenet. I canceled their subscription with PayPal on day one because their service is horrible.Waste of time signing up. Couple months later I got an email from them saying that I owe them $99 because the subscription was not canceled. I sent them a copy of the cancellation letter from PayPal that stats that all agreements with Usenet have been canceled. That was a confirmation for me that the subscription was canceled because any subscriptions I have/had with PayPal, I canceled them through PayPal. Anyway... another month passes and I get a written letter from TESCHINKASSO, some German Collection Agency apparently and it states the following:

Dear Paul,

This is to notify that Usenet.nl S.r.l., 47895 Domagnano, has commissioned us with the collecting of overdue claims.

Following the documents submitted by us, our client has honored his contractual obligations with respect to you. Our client has duly performed his services and furnished you with his statement of account.

Unfortunately, you have not carried out the complete settlement of the outstanding balance in spite of repeated reminders from out client. You are already considerably in delay of payment.

So now I have to pay 165 EUR. This ridiculous, they scam people into PayPal subscriptions and when you cancel it with PayPal it's not enough. The Collection Agency also threatened me that if I do not make a payment by a specific date, legal actions will be taken. Can someone please response who had a similar case and if they actually went after you with a lawyer or is it another scam that the company introduced?

I was in a hurry to get a book for a class..and was tired..so I wasn't really thinking about scams (I've avoided many..but I just was too exhausted to care)...so I signed up-using paypal (I never put my card info on a site I've never used/dont trust)..and I'm glad I did. I use paypal anytime I see that option. Anyways...after signing up, it asked me to download something...THIS IS WHEN MY ALARM WENT OFF..I stopped not caring. I never use any site that asks me to "download and install an executable file". Biggest mistake people make. The exec file is a PROGRAM. It can screw up your computer any way it sees fit. So I didn't install it (immediate delete)..then went to unsubscribe from the site-because now I was not trusting the site. Couldnt do it. It made all these unnecessary and long list of things to click to get to the last "continue termination"..which was tricky because next to it was "cancel termination" (you go through this like 4 times -and they switch places so you might accidentally cancel termination and have to start over-did it once)..and I was already really pissed. anyways, got to the last page, and it was asking me to make a call..really pissed off now. It was too late to call then, so I called the next day..got a "your calling out of bizz hours" bs -they still had 20 minutes before closing time...so that was already even more alarming..I just tried to stay calm. today, I finally got the time to call -they gave this bs excuse of "you will have to wait 10 min cuz we're busy" excuse and hung up on me! THATS WHEN i knew beyond a doubt that they were fcking with me. I googled, and bam. People are saying its fraudulent, and how you can use paypal to cancel subscription...but I couldnt remember if I used paypal (like I said..I was exhausted)..I signed into paypal and followed the steps and noticed usenet.nl on my payment area...and cancelled the subscription. Phew.

I searched for an e-book and was sent to their site, offering me a free trial. Then I was told that I had a free trial before and my credit-card number was mysteriously filled in in a form where I could choose between two extravagantly expensive subscriptions so I just closed the page.
Seconds later an email arrived, congratulating me with my subscription and €1, - was taken from the prepaid-credit card I used as precaution (more people should do so )
I sent them a mail to complain but reading this all I think I wasted my time.

All, wow I wish I found this site earlier - seems like this business is making money off us all in the same way. Here's what I have discovered. You MUST call to cancel your membership and MUST receive a message in writing that it is cancelled. The cancellation online is not possible - but it's set up to make you "think" you've cancelled. I've submitted a dispute to PayPal but based on above sounds like I may get the run around. Will update once I have more info. I know they are HQ in San Marino, Italy - does anyone have a better business bureau or something like that where we can report this? Does that even exist there?

I have had similar problems with Usenet providers Usenext and Usenet NL, trying to charge a years subscription in advance.

As they have not yet provided the service, their legal and debt collectors threats are on very dodgy legal grounds.

The terms and cnditions do state that if you do not cancel, you will be charged for a years service.

However, were it to go to court, they cannot claim they have provided the service, as they have not.

In my case, I got threatening emails, and then snail mails. Mails to them were ignored, so I did the same and ignored theirs.

Usenext has stopped pestering me now, 18 months later.

Usenet NL are still pestering me and I am ignoring them.

I'd love go to court and show that they cannot charge for something they have not provided. It is a contractural scam.

Similar story here
Signed up for a cheap trial and then completely forgot all about it
Used my debit card and luckily it expired during the trial period so had a replacement card issued by my bank
At the end of the trial period (October 2015) they tried taking a years subscription off my card with absolutely no warning
but of course I've got a different card number now so it didn't work
I now have a company called Tesch Inkasso chasing me for payment with letters getting progressively more and more threatening

Just read the other stories about this "company" that others have written--
I cancelled within the cancellation period and no longer have the card I signed up with. Months later, and I receive a bill in the mail for 110 euros. What? You've got to be kidding me-- why are you billing me when I CANCELLED your service? This is fraud and I will be filing a suit unless you cancel this false debt.

I am also a victim of this FRAUD by usenet.nl . I realized that my credit card had been charged via Paypal for the last 6 months for something I didn't even know what it was. When I tried to get Paypal to stop the unauthorized payments and had them investigate, they replied that I had to deal with usenet.nl directly because I was in a contract with them (or something to that effect). i am afraid they are going to continue charging my credit card via Paypal in Euros. I have never agreed or authorized any Service to be charged monthly in Euros.
How can one stop them from taking money from my account a.k.a. robbing me?

Here in the United States I can use my debit card as a Visa credit card. If I cancel my usenet account within the 14 day period specified and I'm charged regardless, I can contact my bank and have the funds credited to my account whilst the bank initiates an investigation of fraud.

Hi, I also unknowingly subscribed to them. I think on the other thread some users suggested that mailing sending them a "contact form" would cancel the membership in a few days. Personally, I didn't want to take the chance. I checked out their address and they seem to operate from Peru, or something...
I contacted my bank and closed down my card altogether. It's not that bad for me since I used my credit card, and my bank can reissue me a new one with different paying information in 5-7 business days. I'd suggest you guys do the same and don't take the chances!
