I was contacted by telephone to come to a vacation ownership club and for my participation I would receive a free cruise. HA HA HA! I am a seasoned timeshare viewer. I've seen lots, received lots of free gifts, and turned down every offer to buy a timeshare or be a part of a vacation club. By the way, you know how they tell you that the timeshare is completely transferable and willable etc. Well, that part is true! Go on ebay and there are lots of people trying to unload these timeshares many times just for the price of the next maintenance fee. NEVER, I repeat NEVER buy a timeshare from a timeshare company!!! Anyway, onto my complaint... First of all, the company insulted my husband and I for not being smart enough to recognize a good deal. Ha ha ha. I felt so sorry for the suckers who bought into this junk but anyway, when I left and asked for my free cruise (as promised), they said they were all out of certificates and that it would be mailed to us. Another employee, said under his voice "nothing is really free" as we left. I never expected to receive the certificate but I did about 2 weeks later so I chose my dates and send it in. I then got a bill for close to $600.00 that has to be paid within 14 days and none of my dates had even been confirmed yet and once they have the money, there is NO CHANGES allowed at all. They also told me (on the phone) that in order to upgrade to bring my infant child it would cost upwards of $700.00. Well, at that point, I decided NOT to book because I can get the same cruise from cheapcruises.com for the SAME price as the free one for just my husband and I and WAY less if I decide to bring the baby. Do your homework, find a cheap cruise, and THROW away that paperwork from Spirit. It's a FRAUD!!! Actually, If you've got money and time and sanity to throw away, go ahead with it.
